Kullu Manali Tour Package from Kolkata: 3N/4D Overview

This 4 day Kullu Manali tour from Kolkata is priced from Rs 11,500 per person on twin sharing, down from Rs 12,234. It is rated 4.1 out of 5 by verified TravelTriangle travellers, and it stays fully customisable, so you can change a hotel, add a night or swap a day before you pay. There is no direct route from Kolkata to Manali, so the package is built around the overnight AC Volvo that boards in Delhi. From Kolkata you fly the short leg to Delhi first, then board the coach the same evening, which keeps the hill part of the trip on a comfortable sleeper coach instead of a two-day drive. You get quotes from up to three verified agents and pay in easy instalments, so nothing is locked until the plan is right.

About this Kullu Manali package from Kolkata

Kullu and Manali sit on the banks of the Beas, ringed by cedar forest and snow points, and for an eastern India traveller they are one of the easiest Himalayan snow holidays to organise once the flight to Delhi is sorted. This package keeps the plan simple. You spend three nights in Manali with a half-day city tour, a full day at Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass for snow, and a day out to Naggar, then head back. It suits friends, families and couples who want the mountains without a complicated route or a long self-drive from Kolkata.

Be clear on how the routing works, because the title says "from Kolkata" and the honest picture matters. The Volvo coach on this package boards in Delhi. From Kolkata you fly to Delhi first, roughly two and a half hours, then board the AC Volvo the same evening for the run up to Manali. If you would rather compare every eastern-India route in one place, see our full Kolkata tour packages hub.

How to reach Manali from Kolkata

There is no direct flight, train or road to Manali from Kolkata, so every option routes through Delhi or Chandigarh first, then a road leg into the hills. This is exactly why the package is built on the Delhi Volvo, which is the cheapest and simplest way up. Here is how the three options actually compare from Kolkata.

By air and coach: fly Kolkata (CCU) to Delhi in about two and a half hours, then take the overnight AC Volvo from Delhi to Manali, roughly 12 to 14 hours and about 530 km. This is what the package uses, and it is the option most Kolkata travellers pick because you sleep through the drive and save a whole day.

By flight to the hills: fly Kolkata to Chandigarh, then drive up to Manali, about 310 km and 8 to 10 hours by road. Or fly to Kullu (Bhuntar), the nearest airport at roughly 50 km from Manali, though those flights are limited, usually route through Delhi, and are weather dependent. Ask your agent to price either as a custom upgrade.

By train and road: there is no direct train to a Manali railhead. The nearest railhead is Chandigarh, about 250 to 310 km short of Manali, and a Kolkata to Chandigarh train runs well over 30 hours before you even start the road leg. It is the budget route, not the quick one, so most travellers keep rail as a backup and fly the first leg.

For train names, timings, fares and the full road route from Kolkata, see our detailed how to reach Manali from Kolkata guide.

    Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Kolkata to Delhi, then overnight Volvo to Manali

Fly from Kolkata to Delhi and reach the coach boarding point in Delhi by about 5:30 pm. From here you board a comfortable AC Volvo for the overnight run to Manali, roughly 12 to 14 hours through the plains and up into the foothills, so you sleep on the way and save a full day of travel. There is no sightseeing today, it is a transit evening. Arrival in Manali is the next morning, with the arrival transfer included.

Day 2: Manali arrival and half-day sightseeing

As you reach Manali our representative welcomes you and takes you to the hotel to freshen up. After a little rest the afternoon is a half-day city tour. You visit the cedar-wood Hadimba Devi Temple set in a quiet forest clearing, Van Vihar by the river, the Tibetan Monastery with its prayer wheels, and Vashisht village, where the natural hot water springs are a warm stop even in cold weather. There is time on Mall Road and at Manali Market before you return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Breakfast and dinner are included.

Day 3: Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass for snow

After breakfast you head up for the big snow day, either Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass depending on the season and permits. Rohtang is capped at about 1,200 vehicles a day, stays shut on Tuesdays for maintenance, and needs an online permit, so when it is closed or full the tour runs to Solang Valley instead. When the higher pass is out, many drivers now use the Atal Tunnel to reach Sissu on the far side for reliable snow without a Rohtang permit. Either way you get snow points and optional activities like a snow scooter, a short ropeway or horse riding. Back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. The Rohtang permit is not included in the price.

Day 4: Naggar tour and departure

After a buffet breakfast you check out and drive to Naggar, the old capital of the Kullu valley and a calmer, greener contrast to central Manali. You visit the stone-and-wood Naggar Castle with its valley views, a shawl factory where you can watch weaving and shop for local wool, the Gayatri Mata temple, and the old Shiva temple at Jagatsukh. From Naggar you continue to your onward transfer, connecting to the Volvo back to Delhi and your Kolkata flight. If you want a slower finish, ask your agent to add an extra night in Manali when you customise.

Atal Tunnel and Sissu, snow without a Rohtang permit

The snow day is where this trip has an edge that most Kolkata packages skip. Rohtang Pass is the classic snow point, but it is permit-gated, capped, and shut on Tuesdays, and it stays closed through the deep winter. The Atal Tunnel, opened in 2020 and just over 9 km long, changed that. It runs under the Rohtang ridge to the Lahaul side, where Sissu has open snow meadows and a waterfall, and no Rohtang permit is needed to get there. In the months when Rohtang is closed, Sissu is often the more reliable place to actually stand in fresh snow. Solang Valley remains the go-to for adventure, with paragliding, zorbing and the ropeway. Tell your agent whether snow or activities matter more and the day is planned around it.

Places you cover on this trip

Across the four days you take in the snow points at Solang Valley or Rohtang Pass, the Atal Tunnel and Sissu as the modern no-permit snow alternative, Hadimba Devi Temple and Van Vihar, Vashisht village and its hot springs, the Tibetan Monastery, Mall Road and Manali Market, and on the Naggar day the Naggar Castle, a working shawl factory, the Gayatri Mata temple and the Shiva temple at Jagatsukh.

For a wider set of routes and durations across the valley, see our Kullu Manali tour packages and the broader Himachal tour packages collection.

Best time to visit Kullu Manali from Kolkata

For snow on the ground, come between October and February, with December and January the coldest and most reliable for fresh snow at Solang and at Sissu through the Atal Tunnel. March to June is pleasant and green, good for sightseeing, and the Rohtang season usually opens around May. July to September brings the monsoon, when hill roads can see landslides, so build in buffer time if you travel then. Since you fly from Kolkata, book the Delhi flight a few weeks ahead for the winter and holiday peaks, when both fares and hotels climb.

See the full month-by-month breakdown in our best time to visit Manali guide.

Recently I with my group of 7 people went on a Himachal trip for a week's duration. The overall trip was good. Highly impressed with the agent's service; they were very polite, they were very supportive pre-trip and during the trip too. The hotel, food, and driver was up to the Mark The only problem
lacked was the journey and the Cab provided. We were promised to be provided with INNOVA. Though we got a SUMO which is super uncomfortable carrying a group of 7 people. It is very difficult to travel on such roads sitting on a SUMO. We canceled 2 days of journeys with specific destinations for this reason (people fell ill with severe back pain). Even after requests, on the very first day; they were unable to provide better transport. Please make sure you are not provided a TATA SUMO/ Similar which will ruin your journey hours.

The hotel in Manali was decent enough, food was ok. The camp in Kasol was sort of a nightmare. There was no proper route to reach the camp. We had to cross river on rocks walking in the night with luggage. Wish we were informed early about it. The heater in the room was also not worth it and no hot
water as well. The best part was the driver Ankit who helped us in every way. He was very accommodating and professional. The agents should take more care about the river camps and also giving a clear itinerary otherwise it would cause more confusion and we could end up paying more than needed

The experience was good overall. However we will look forward for the travel agent to get more involved during the travel time. Mahendra's 6 days trip to Himachal

I had booked Shimla - Manaali six days tour with North India Tours & Travels. From the starting there were trouble with agency. I was asked to contact Mr. Neeraj Negi for driver details. I had followed him four times over phone but he didn't provide the proper details. I got three drivers number an
d had to call all of them to know who will pick me up from Chandigarh. Once driver was fixed, he asked me to leave from Chandigarh early (though I didn't want it) in the morning because he was in Chandigarh that evening and he wanted to return early. when I called Neeraj Negi to know if Hotel room will be available if I reach early, he was blunt and said will you check out early if you are checking in early. Taxi and hotel coordination was his job but I was doing it and he was playing boss role. while travelling to Shimla, taxi driver (Prakash) informed me that he is not from North India tour travel. Taxi driver on day one left without informing. raised the issue on Travel triangle whatsapp group but no help was offer either by travel triangle or Neeraj Negi. During the travel, I had four different drivers (Prakash, Sanjay, Ajay, Raju) and on each day I had to coordinate with these drivers. No professionalism at all. Although, I was informed that I will have single driver through out the tour. while returning from Manaali around 1 PM during the day we were passing through planes (Sundar Nagar, Bilaspur etc) and temperature was 37 deg C and dust outside. requested driver to switch on the AC but he hadn't. this is despite the fact that we were descending from hills or travelling in plane areas. This driver (Ajay) had to pick client from Chandigarh therefore he had asked us to start early from Manaali, which I agreed to. I had to skip the breakfast because of him but when we requested him to switch on the AC, he straight forward denied it. No support from North India tour travel . Only good thing in this trip was hotel in Manaali (Himalayan heights), which is newly built and well maintained. view from this hotel is quite good and it has apple orchard within it's boundary.

Also we have asked for place where can get snow and we were suggested shollang valley which didn't had any snow. Luckily driver took us to Khoksar Paragliding and Rafting
