As soon as the sun sets, the border gates are opened and one soldier from each side comes forward and shakes hand with the other along with folding of flags.
The concept of this ceremony of lowering of flags started in the year 1959 and the tradition has been continued till date. The whole idea of this ceremony is to maintain the feeling of brotherhood between the two countries, keeping aside the rivalry, and tensions between the nations.
A large number of people flock to the border everyday to witness this arousing ceremony. The sound of cheers, slogans, and hooting from both sides reflects the enthusiasm, and patriotism of the masses making it a sight to cherish.
