Activities In Amritsar
Famous for several shrines and delectable cuisine, Amritsar is one of the most popular travel destinations in Punjab. It’s the spiritual capital and a major pilgrimage site for Sikhs and Hindus. Let’s take a look at the best things to do in Amritsar to make the most of a holiday in Punjab:
Visiting the Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib is one of the top things to do in Amritsar. At the Golden Temple, visitors can take a holy bath before entering the temple, volunteer at the langar to serve food to the needful, pay a visit to Akal Takht, and take pictures of night-time reflections of the beautifully lit-up temple in the pool. In the afternoon, travelers can take a stroll through the Jallianwala Bagh memorial to witness the infamous event that happened in April 1919. This 6.5-acre garden holds a great cultural significance in Amritsar.
Wondering what to do in Amritsar? Pay a visit to Partition Museum which displays a repository of stories and documents about post-partition riots. This public museum is located in the Town Hall, a 10-minute walk from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The museum is open from 10 am to 6 pm, closed on Mondays. Those looking to know more about city’s history can opt for the Amritsar heritage walks which take visitors to havelis, gurudwaras, dhabas, and more.
Attending the famous Wagah Border ceremony is a great thing to do near Amritsar. Every evening two hours before the sunset, security forces from both India and Pakistan, perform a ceremony at the main border. People on both sides cheer for their respective countries to create an atmospheric scene. Plan another day trip from Amritsar to Pul Kanjari to explore a ruined fort and a baoli. Shopping is another one of the fun things to do in Amritsar. Hit the streets lined with shops at Hall Bazaar in Amritsar to buy jewelry, handicrafts, books, clothes, and more. Make sure to buy embroidered phulkari dupattas and Punjabi juttis (traditional footwear). After shopping, travelers can enjoy eating at dhabas in Amritsar such as Kesar Da Dhaba, Bharawan Da Dhaba, and Beera Chicken House.
For outdoor activities in Amritsar, travelers can explore attractions such as Gobindgarh Fort which was thrown open to the public recently. Visit the 12-meter long Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama in Ram Bagh Park to enjoy paintings and sound-effects. Mata Ka Mandir, dedicated to Saint Lal Devi, is another major pilgrimage spot in Amritsar. It features low tunnels, inclined walkways, caves, and mirrored hallways. Shri Ram Tirath Temple and Goindwal Sahib are other major places worth visiting near Amritsar. During the winter season, planning a picnic to Harike Pattan Bird Sanctuary between Amritsar and Ferozpur is one of the unique things to do in Amritsar.

Trip to HimachalHad good experience during our Punjab Himachal trip barring few hiccups which we can ignore when we look at the holistic view. Few points to highlight 1. Driver was very good 2. Hotel rooms nice barring Amritsar Overall, planning and execution of the trip was good. A thumbs up !!!
Trip to HimachalThis ratio g is for both agent and travel triangle also, hotels are very poor condition in delhi and amritsar ,we I formed to the agent then also there is no action taken, also there is no significant gleam point of contact, when we informed the agent he said that call to some other person who booked the hotels which is not expected ,from travel triangle also there is noone even called to check the service in the trip, that is the minimum responsibility as we booked from you
Trip to HimachalALL TRIP WAS GOOD EXPERIENCE , EXCEPT FOR FOOD SPECIALLY BREAKFAST AND DINNER NO VARIETY WAS PROVIDED SAME VEGITABLES WERE PROVIDED AT BOTH PLACES KATRA AND DALHOUSI. EVEN THE PAYMENT SYSTEM IS NOT GOOD OUR DRIVER WAS PANICKED DUE TO THAT AND OUR AMRITSAR TRIP WAS HALF COMPLETE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO MAKE PAYMENT AT HOTELS IN CASH WHERE AS AS PER OUR PAYMENT SCHEDULE WE HAVE TO TRANSFER PAYMENT TO HIMACHAL HILL TRAVELS. REST THE STAFF WAS COOPERATIVE AND HELPFUL.
Trip to HimachalThe trip was perfect as per the iternary. Driver was very much supportive, flexible and friendly. Hotels in Amritsar and Himachal all were perfect but the best was in Dharamshala. I had a perfect holiday within these 6 days. Thank You Team for providing us with awesome experience.
Trip to HimachalThe overall trip could have been better had the agency taken care of some small things. 1. At two of the booked hotels, Wistling Pine in Shimla and Savers Park in Amritsar were had been stopped for about 30 minutes or so when checking out stating that the payments were not made and that we had to pay them. It was very inconvenient. 2. We didn't get to see a few places promised in the final voucher. First, we got to Kullu in the evening and the driver stopped at a shop and said that if we wanted to buy clothes we had about 30 minutes. He said we will not visit Kullu again. So we didn't see Kullu at all. Second, we didn't visit Kasole at all. The driver said he will see if the roads to Kasole were open, he will take us. But he didn't take us there. I know for sure that the roads were open. I strongly believe he wanted to get to Dharamshala earlier so he skipped that. Third, the driver skipped all the sightseeing in Dalhousie saying that they are 50 to 60 km away so we cannot visit them. 3. When we asked for some changes in the hotel reservations, although the request being 3 days in advance, it was denied stating that the changes could not be made. 4. When we would asked the driver to take us to a near by mall or shopping, he declined the request stating the car has a gps and that hey is not allowed to. 5. At most of the hotels, we missed the breakfast because the driver wanted to leave early for the next destination.
Trip to KashmirWe booked Young Bombay Tours & Travel for our Amritsar and Jammu-Kashmir trip. The arrangements & hotel booking done were really great. As it was 11 days trip, the iteneary was very well planned & budgeted. Not a single day we felt hectic, it was organised in such a way. Commendable job done by Zaara & her team. All the drivers we met during our trip were wonderful people. They supported us in every way. Must mention Burhan bhai & Zahoor bhai whom we met for Kashmir journey. The places which we visited in Kashmir were so breath taking that it really cannot be mentioned in words. Thank you Young Bombay for such a beautiful & memorable trip. It is really difficult to list the best memories of the trip beacuse the complete trip itself was beautiful. The freezing temperature & the view of snow all over at Gulmarg was completely mesmerizing.
Trip to HimachalHotel where good except the fern hotel at amritsar. Taxi we're clean and good but drivers were in cooperative and didn't behaved well. As a tourist we go to travel and explore places but we are dissatisfied by the drivers services Dalhousie, khajjar and mcloedganj we're best places to be and see around.
Trip to HimachalHotel grand hriday in Amritsar was not upto the mark ,late response and neatness was not maintained Khajjiar is a wonderful place Bhagsu waterfalls and wagha border retreat ceremony were just fabulous
Trip to HimachalWe enjoyed our trip with Guruji though there were some communication barrier with our cap driver who can not speak English but things could be eventually solved out. We have faced unexpected problems during our visit to Manali; one member lost her purse and passport and the other got a stray dog bite while walking in downtown. But with our skilled and supportive driver despite limited English, my friend's passport could be located and eventually being picked up on the way of our next destination to Amritsar, thanks god. The member who got dog bite could reach to the public hospital in Manali for treatment. So thank you to Mr. Mukthiar, the driver, for the good job. I also like to thank you Avinash and Rehka for their support and fast responsive to our questions and needs from the beginning through our itinerary. I will definitely come back and choose Guruji Travels for our next trip.
Trip to KashmirWe were a group of 9 adults and 4 children. Classic Holidays Kashmir provided us a customized Itinerary for 7N and 8D to travel to Srinagar, Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, katra and Amritsar. Our agent Rabiya was very diligent and patient enough in preparing our itinerary. It was a memorable trip for all of us. Though we had a few hurdles in our travel during our trip due to the convoy, Rabiya helped in rescheduling the hotel bookings and our driver Thanveer was very friendly and cooperative and he guided us very well to reach our destination with a private van that we had to book on our own to reach Katra on time so that we did not miss our helicopter to Vaishnodevi Temple. He was helpful in getting a good guide in Gulmarg and also helped us in getting cabs in Sonamarg. The following are the reviews for the hotels that we stayed: Royal Milad , Srinagar - very good hotel and good service Montreal house boat- food was good, but cleanliness and hygiene was an issue Moon view, Pahalgam - Good hotel but service was not very satisfactory Hotel Dolphin,Katra - good hotel and good food Hotel Roopa International, Amritsar - leaking taps, dining hall was under construction, some sewage problem so the lobby area was stinking. Se we definitely recommend Classic Holidays Kashmir. Thanks to Rabiya and Thanveer.
