How to Reach Spots for Helicopter Rides

Helicopter rides are the most fascinating way to enjoy the views of this magnificent world. Helicopter rides are very famous in Gangtok town in Sikkim. These mountain flights are 5 seater. Flight timing may vary depending upon the weather conditions and bookings by the VIPs. Hence the schedule of the helicopter rides need to be checked in advance. Bagdogra airport is the nearest airport to Gangtok town. The helicopter takes approximately 35 minutes to reach Gangtok from Bagdogra. The return trip is also available. This flight is a regular flight which operates daily from Bagdogra to Gangtok at 2.30 PM and makes the return trip from Gangtok to Bagdogra at 11 AM. The booking has to be done in advance in STDC between 10 AM to 5 PM.

The standard 15 minutes tour over Gangtok is mostly preferred by tourists. The unparalleled views of landscapes, houses, roads seen from the helicopter is an awesome experience. The views of colourful Rumtek Monastery, majestic Gangtok Ridge can be enjoyed in this trip. Another popular helicopter trip is Kanchenjunga which is the third highest peak in the world. This is a one hour ride from Gangtok over Mangan, Chungthang, Lachen, Zemu Glacier, Green Lake and back to Gangtok through the town of Lachen. Getting mesmerized by the beauty of the Kanchenjunga peak is the best part of this ride. The other views of this trip are the spectacular Teesta Valley between Mangan & Lachen, the tranquil Lachen Monastery, the astounding Zemu glacier and few more. The breathtaking ride over the beautiful Tsomgo Lake is also offered from Gangtok. The incomparable views of Himalayan peak, Mount Siniolchu can also be enjoyed in one of the special ride. For religious people, pilgrimage helicopter ride is also operated over the enchanting Char Dham, Tathangata Tsal, Samdrupts and Sai Mandir. Getting seats in the helicopter rides in Gangtok is tough during season time so make the reservation well in advance to enjoy the awesome helicopter rides.

Nikhil helped organize a 7 N / 8 D trip to Darjeeling and Sikkim.. Was really well planned. The hotels were comfortable and food arrangements extremely good. Driver who took us along was an excellent guide. Good part was we were able to tweak the itinerary to couple of more areas whilst at Gangtok.
