Month-wise Weather Details for Spiti Valley
March to June (14°c to 20°c): This is the most ideal time to plan a visit to Spiti Valley as the temperature is pleasant and perfect for outdoor activities like biking, trekking, camping, and sightseeing. People who cannot tolerate too much of chills must visit Spiti Valley during this time as the weather in Spiti during May is pleasant and adorable.
July to September (13°c to 27°c): This is not a good time to visit Spiti Valley as July to September constitutes monsoon season in Spiti and the risks of landslides increases. Most of the roads also become inaccessible owing to the dangers attached.
October to February (-4°c to 20°c): Going to Spiti Valley during the winter season that is from October to February is a challenge in itself but if you did this challenge then you will be entering a live heaven. Spiti in winter season looks like a dreamland, all covered with snow. Spiti weather in December is extremely harsh and temperature can fall to minus 40 degrees Celsius.
Famous Festivals Celebrated in Spiti
Pauri Fair: This Spiti festival is celebrated every year in the third week of August. The festival includes 2 days festivity in which darshan of Lord Shiva is done on the first day and on the second day a traditional procession is taken out on a decorated horse. The festival is followed by cultural dance performances as well as religious rites and rituals.
Tshechu Festival: Also referred to as the Kye Chham festival, this festival is celebrated in the month of June at various monasteries. The highlight of this festival is the devil dance performance by the Lamas who are dressed in colorful attire and masks of different animals and birds.
Chakhar Mela: Chakhar Mela is celebrated in the last week of September in every 3 years. Lamas worship Chikchait Lord for 6 days during this festival and on the 7th day, they throw away the chakhar in the fire. The highlight of this festival is Chham dance which is performed by Lamas.

Summer Season in Spiti
Summer season in Spiti begins from the month of April and runs till June, Spiti Valley weather in May marks the beginning of the tourist season as the route via Manali opens in this month. Late May to June is the best season to visit Spiti Valley as the temperature rises above the 0 degree celsius which makes traveling possible in this area. The temperature in Spiti Valley in June ranges between 0 and 15 degree celsius which makes it perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. It is because of the pleasant Spiti valley weather in June that most of the bikers begin their journey to this wonderland.
Monsoon Season in Spiti
The rainy season in Spiti sets in the month of July, and runs till September. Monsoon is also not a good time to visit the valley as, during this season, the rainy weather in Lahaul Spiti makes traveling quite difficult. The roads become quite muddy, and the waterfalls are also on full flow. Therefore, travelers get stuck for days while traveling during the monsoon season. The heavy showers of rain hinder sightseeing of the city’s major tourist attractions as well.

Winter season in Spiti sets in the month of October and runs till the end of March. During this season, Lahaul Spiti temperature starts dropping steadily, turning the valley into a cold desert. Travelers who want to visit Spiti Valley in October will have to take Srinagar and Kargil route as the route from Manali is shut by the authorities during winters. Temperature in Spiti Valley in December ranges from -1 to -5 and at night it may drop to -20 as well. Therefore, due to the extreme temperature in Lahaul Spiti, it is not recommended to travel to the valley in winter.
