How to Reach Lake Gregory Park in Nuwara Eliya

Are you wondering where is Lake Gregory? Lake Gregory is located in Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. The options of road and rail travel are open for the travelers through which they can easily reach the destination. However, as the nearest airport to Lake Gregory is Bandaranaike International Airport, which is located in Colombo at a distance of around 180 km from Nuwara Eliya. Hence, from here you can choose to directly take a cab or taxi, and reach Lake Gregory within 5 hours. Now, if you are wondering how to reach Lake Gregory once you have reached the city, you may also carry a Lake Gregory map that will help you locate the place easily; or choose to take the below modes of transportation.

By Rail

As you land in Colombo, you can take a train to Nanu Oya. The nearest railway station to Lake Gregory is in Nanu Oya. The lake is at a distance of 10 km from the station. It will take you 20 minutes to reach the lake from the railway station.

By Road

Lake Gregory is connected to all the major cities via road. There are a number of bus services as well as taxis that run between different cities such as Kaddy and Hatton that will take you to Lake Gregory for a nominal sum. You can board bus line RIM OTM from downtown, and reach the attraction in about 110 to 160 minutes.

      Our holiday with trip travel hub was good. Efficient service for people in our group wanting a change in itenary at last moment. Travel agent was very accommodating. Gave us good car with driver. Only at Mirissa the room given to us was on 4th floor but no lift facility.

      I would say my overall trip was fine but there is scope of improvement when it comes to itinerary and planning. We could not cover a lot of points irrespective of the fact we started everyday as early as 9am. We barely got any time to shop in Colombo, in fact Lotus tower was the only place we could
      vidit after our arrival to Colombo and the cab driver didn't let us shop the next day or on our last day when we headed 5-6 hours early to the airport. The hotels were good except for the fact that two of them had no lifts but we had to climb stairs which was not beforehand. In fact the hotel which had a great view in Kandy, I requested the agent if we could stay there instead of going to Nuwara eliya but since it was last minute it was not acceptable. I would give 3 out 5 as there is scope of having better experience. My best memory is the time we spent in the Millennium elephant orphanage where we fed and bathed the elephant and walked with one.
