Although there are several hill stations near Pune only a short drive away, Coonoor draws tourists from all parts of Maharashtra and India. Pune in itself is a city with beautiful weather and historical attractions. Coonoor is famous for wonderful waterfalls, scenic forested hills, and tea estates. Taking a flight from Pune to Coonoor is the quickest way to travel. However, a train ride between Pune and Coonoor allows memorable views along the tracks through the Western Ghats.

Here are following ways to travel for those wondering how to reach Coonoor from Pune using train or bus:

Pune to Coonoor by Air

Coonoor does not have its own airport. The nearest airport from Coonoor is about 70 km away in Coimbatore city. Pune Airport (PNQ) is a major domestic airport in India. Jet Airways runs a direct flight from Pune to Coimbatore daily. Alliance Air and IndiGo flights from Pune to Coonoor have at least one stop-over. It takes about two hours for a nonstop flight between Pune and Coimbatore to complete the travel.

After reaching the airport in Coimbatore, travellers can opt for a bus ride or hire a taxi to Coonoor. Overall, it may take up to 5 hours to travel from Pune to Coonoor via flight.

Pune to Coonoor by Train

Coonoor train station is served only by Nilgiri Mountain Railways. It doesn’t have direct connectivity with South Indian Railways. The nearest train station from Coonoor is Mettupalayam or Coimbatore. Mumbai CSMT Thiruvananthapuram Express, Rajkot Coimbatore Express, and Mumbai Kanyakumari Express are direct trains between Pune and Coimbatore. After getting off in Coimbatore, travellers can either take another train to Mettupalayam station where the toy train ride begins or hire a direct taxi to Coonoor from Coimbatore.

It may take up to 30 hours to reach Coonoor from Pune by train.

Pune to Coonoor by Road

The distance between Pune and Coonoor is about 1,072 km by road. Most travellers either opt for a direct flight or train to Coimbatore from Pune to save time. It’s better to enjoy road travel between Coimbatore and Coonoor than from all the way to Pune. After landing at the airport or reaching train station in Coimbatore, tourists can book a taxi to Coonoor, which is about 70 km away. Another cheaper but slower option is to either take a bus from Coimbatore or a train from Mettupalayam to Coonoor.

CAB and Driver is good, driver has planned the places well and covered as per Itinerary. On the way, he has also explained about the places while driving in Mysore and Ooty. Hotel Delightz Inn is ok only (Don't go for it if you're more than 2 Adults). Room is very tight with no chair to sit and p

lace the luggage, free breakfast is not that level as not much options when compared to others. Roopa elite is recommended hotel, breakfast is superb. After seeing the places and travel, hotels, trip seems bit costly. Time constraint to visit Ooty places Overall, felt that package is bit costly but went smooth from start to end

Most importantly Dream yatra do not pick call, they insist us to send whatsapp message only.I also raised all these concerns to traveltriangle in email but there is no response. I am giving rating as 10 since feedback is not getting submitted when i gave rating as 1. No good experience, it was a NIGHTMARE.

He ensured we covered all the places listed in the itinerary and even shared interesting insights about the destinations. His dedication and pleasant demeanor added great value to our trip. The resort we stayed at was another highlight of our vacation. Nestled amidst the serene woods, it offered stunning views that made for a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The food served at the resort was equally delightful, offering a wide range of flavors that satisfied our palate. However, while the trip itself was fantastic, I want to share some feedback regarding the booking experience. Our travel agent, Kishan from Bookitforgetit, was very proactive and responsive before we booked the trip. Unfortunately, after the booking was finalized, I found myself repeatedly following up for crucial details such as the hotel voucher, payment confirmations, and driver information. This lack of consistent communication and post-booking support was a bit disappointing. My humble request to Travel Triangle is to ensure that better customer service is provided after the booking process is complete. It’s crucial to maintain the same level of attentiveness throughout the entire experience. While the trip itself was great, the post-booking service left room for improvement. I hope this feedback helps improve future experiences for travelers like us.
