Pune to Coonoor by Air

Coonoor does not have its own airport. The nearest airport from Coonoor is about 70 km away in Coimbatore city. Pune Airport (PNQ) is a major domestic airport in India. Jet Airways runs a direct flight from Pune to Coimbatore daily. Alliance Air and IndiGo flights from Pune to Coonoor have at least one stop-over. It takes about two hours for a nonstop flight between Pune and Coimbatore to complete the travel.

After reaching the airport in Coimbatore, travellers can opt for a bus ride or hire a taxi to Coonoor. Overall, it may take up to 5 hours to travel from Pune to Coonoor via flight.

Pune to Coonoor by Train

Coonoor train station is served only by Nilgiri Mountain Railways. It doesn’t have direct connectivity with South Indian Railways. The nearest train station from Coonoor is Mettupalayam or Coimbatore. Mumbai CSMT Thiruvananthapuram Express, Rajkot Coimbatore Express, and Mumbai Kanyakumari Express are direct trains between Pune and Coimbatore. After getting off in Coimbatore, travellers can either take another train to Mettupalayam station where the toy train ride begins or hire a direct taxi to Coonoor from Coimbatore.

It may take up to 30 hours to reach Coonoor from Pune by train.

Pune to Coonoor by Road

The distance between Pune and Coonoor is about 1,072 km by road. Most travellers either opt for a direct flight or train to Coimbatore from Pune to save time. It’s better to enjoy road travel between Coimbatore and Coonoor than from all the way to Pune. After landing at the airport or reaching train station in Coimbatore, tourists can book a taxi to Coonoor, which is about 70 km away. Another cheaper but slower option is to either take a bus from Coimbatore or a train from Mettupalayam to Coonoor.
