Yes, especially on a first Bangkok trip. It is free to enter, easy to reach, air-conditioned, and the airport-themed floors plus the cheap Pier 21 food court make it a fun two to three hours even if you do not shop. Time it for a weekday morning for the best experience.
How much time do you need at Terminal 21?
Two to three hours is plenty for most visitors: about an hour wandering the themed floors and taking photos, an hour at the Pier 21 food court, and some time for shopping. Serious shoppers can easily spend half a day.
Which floor is the Pier 21 food court on?
Level 5, the San Francisco floor with the model of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is open the same hours as the mall, roughly 10 am to 10 pm.
How do you pay at the Pier 21 food court?
With a prepaid card, not cash at the stalls. Load money onto a card at the counter near the entrance, tap to pay at each stall, then return the card to get any unused balance back in cash before you leave.
What is the best time to visit Terminal 21 to avoid crowds?
Weekday mornings, from opening at 10 am until about noon. Avoid Friday to Sunday evenings between 7 pm and 9 pm, when the food court and escalators are busiest.
How do you get to Terminal 21 by BTS or MRT?
By BTS, get off at Asok on the Sukhumvit Line and take Exit 1, which connects by skywalk straight into the mall. By MRT, get off at Sukhumvit station, take Exit 3, and walk about four minutes.
Is this the Terminal 21 in Bangkok or in Pattaya?
This guide is the original Terminal 21 Asok in central Bangkok, on Sukhumvit Road. There are separate Terminal 21 malls in Pattaya and at Rama 3 in southern Bangkok, so check the location before you travel.
Is Terminal 21 good for Indian travellers?
Very. It is one of the simplest, cheapest first stops in Bangkok: free entry, budget food-court meals from around Rs 100, and easy train access. The food court has plenty of vegetarian and non-spicy options if you ask at the stalls.
Can you get a tax refund on shopping at Terminal 21?
Foreign tourists can reclaim the 7 percent VAT on qualifying purchases at the airport on departure. Ask the shop for a VAT refund form at the time of buying and keep it with your receipts.
