The green season, roughly June to October, is cheaper and quieter, but pack a poncho because the show and the walking trails are open-air. Weekends and Thai public holidays draw the biggest local crowds, so a weekday evening is calmer. On the clock, the park opens at 11 am and closes around 10 pm, with the last entry near 9 pm and the tram running from about 5:30 pm. Aim to arrive between 5 and 6 pm. You get an hour of daylight for the Jaguar Trail walk, a relaxed seat before the evening rush, and you are on the tram just as the nocturnal animals start moving. Turn up at 8 pm and you are rushing one tram loop in the dark. "Get on the tram before 6 pm and sit near the front. The zones, the shows and the English tram The Night Safari has three parts. The tram covers two night zones: the Savanna Safari, where you glide past deer, zebra, giraffe and rhino, and the Predator Prowl, where lions, tigers and bears watch back from the roadside. The Jaguar Trail is a walking loop you do on foot, best in the last of the daylight. If you cannot follow Thai, take the English-commentary tram, which runs in the evening at around 8 pm. A free shuttle minibus usually runs in the early evening from the Night Bazaar and the Tourist Police area in town, which is the cheapest way out if the timing suits you. If it does not, a Grab car or a red songthaew is the simple fallback, and it is worth agreeing the return trip before you go, because taxis thin out late at night. What to bring, food and visiting with kids Pack light but pack smart. Mosquito repellent is the one thing you will regret forgetting, because the park is green and damp after dark. Add a light long-sleeve layer for the cool-season evenings, closed shoes for the Jaguar Trail, a power bank, and cash or a card for the counter. Night photos are hard: skip the flash, use your phone's night mode, and do not expect crisp shots of fast-moving animals from the tram. For food, there are sit-down restaurants and snack stalls inside the park, so eat before your tram loop rather than trying to carry a meal onto it. Bringing in your own big picnic is not the done thing, though a water bottle is fine. Families do well here: the tram is gentle and slow, under-100 cm kids ride free, and the fountain show is a hit with children. The one caution is that the predator zone is dark and the shows can be loud, which can unsettle very young or nervous children. Is the Night Safari worth it? An honest take For most first-time visitors, yes, and specifically for the after-dark tram, the Predator Prowl and the musical fountain. Go once, go in the evening: the daytime-only visit is cheaper but you miss the atmosphere and most of the shows, which is exactly why the night tram is the one to book. The honest caveat is welfare. This is a conventional zoo, and animal-welfare groups have criticised its tiger enclosures, its paid cub-petting and tiger-photo add-ons, and the feeding of animals from the tram.
