How To Reach Thailand From Bangalore

Explore the nature-kissed beauty of Thailand

Rated 4.40/5 ( based on 6533 reviews )

By AirBy RoadBy TrainBy Sea
Bangalore to Thailand4.0 hours---

Quick distance answer. Bangalore to Bangkok is about 2,475 km by air, and a direct flight covers it in roughly 4.5 to 5 hours. Phuket and Krabi are a little closer, near 2,320 to 2,390 km, but need one stop. There is no ferry or road route worth taking, so you fly.

Bangalore to Thailand at a glance

Detail Answer
Aerial distance (Bangalore to Bangkok) about 2,475 km
Direct flight time 4.5 to 5 hours nonstop to Bangkok
Main arrival airports Bangkok (BKK / DMK), Phuket (HKT), Krabi (KBV)
Return economy fare about Rs 18,000 to Rs 30,000 (from ~Rs 14,000 in the May to September low season)
Visa (2026) Visa-free for Indian tourists, plus the free online TDAC arrival card
When to fly Cheapest May to September; best weather November to February

Bangalore To Thailand Distance

Travelling from Bangalore to Thailand is quick and well served. Kempegowda International Airport puts Bangkok about four and a half hours away, and Thailand stays one of the most popular international trips out of Bangalore for its beaches, street food, temples and easy island hopping.

How far it is depends on which city you land in. Bangalore to Bangkok is around 2,475 km by air (2,476 km to Don Mueang and 2,492 km to Suvarnabhumi), which most airlines fly nonstop in 4.5 to 5 hours. Phuket sits near 2,320 km and Krabi near 2,390 km, but both are usually reached with one stop. Pattaya has no airport of its own, so you fly into Bangkok and drive about two hours south.

Distance and flight time by city

Route (by air) Aerial distance Typical flight time How you fly it
Bangalore to Bangkok (BKK / DMK) about 2,475 km 4.5 to 5 hours Direct nonstop
Bangalore to Phuket (HKT) about 2,320 km 6 to 9 hours 1 stop (via Bangkok, KL or Singapore)
Bangalore to Krabi (KBV) about 2,390 km 7 to 10 hours 1 stop
Bangalore to Pattaya about 2,510 km 4.5 to 5 h flight + ~2 h road Fly to Bangkok, then ~150 km by road

Your ticket may show a longer figure than the straight-line number above, because aircraft follow air corridors rather than a perfect great-circle line. The 2,475 km is the aerial distance; the routed flight path runs a little further.

Can you go by road, rail or sea?

For a holiday, no. Air travel is the only sensible way to reach Thailand from Bangalore. The table below shows why the surface options do not work in practice.

Mode Distance / link Approx. time Practical for travellers?
By air (BLR to BKK) about 2,475 km 4.5 to 5 hours nonstop Yes, the only sensible option
By road (via Myanmar) 4,000 km+ overland Several days No. Multiple borders and special permits
By train No through rail link to Thailand Not available No
By sea No passenger ferry from India Not available No

Planning the whole Thailand trip

Sorting the journey is step one. For the rest, see our Thailand travel guide for places to visit and things to do, or browse Thailand tour packages and Thailand packages from Bangalore that bundle flights, hotels and transfers into one booking.

Where Can You Fly From Bangalore to Thailand

Bangalore connects to Thailand through Kempegowda International Airport, which runs several international departures a day with lounges and full traveller services. Three Thai airports take most Indian arrivals, and the right one depends on your trip.

Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang): Best for first-time visitors, city tours, shopping, and temples. It also has the only nonstop flights from Bangalore.

Phuket (HKT): Best for beaches, honeymoon holidays, and island hopping in the Andaman Sea.

Krabi (KBV): Best for quieter beaches, limestone cliffs, kayaking, and nature.

In short, pick Bangkok for city life, Phuket for beaches and Krabi for a slower pace.

Flights From Bangalore to Thailand

You have two ways to fly it: a direct flight or a connecting one. Both run daily; the choice comes down to budget, time and how much comfort you want.

Direct Flights From Bangalore to Thailand

Direct flights are the fastest and easiest way over.

• Nonstop flights reach Bangkok in about 4.5 to 5 hours with no layovers, making them ideal for short holidays.

• They are a great choice for families, honeymoon couples, and first-time international travellers.

• Airlines operating this route include Thai Airways, IndiGo, and AirAsia.

• Less time in transit means you arrive feeling fresher, which is especially valuable on a five or six-day trip.

Connecting Flights From Bangalore to Thailand

Connecting flights open up cheaper fares and more timing choices.

• These flights include one stop at a hub such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Colombo.

• Total travel time is usually 7 to 12 hours, depending on the length of the layover.

• Fares are often lower than nonstop flights, and there are more departure times to choose from.

• Phuket and Krabi are almost always reached this way, as there are no nonstop flights from Bangalore to either destination.

Flight Availability and Timings

Flights run every day, so you can plan around your schedule rather than the airline's.

• You can choose from morning, afternoon, or late-night departures.

• Early morning and late evening flights are popular because they let you arrive in Thailand with much of the day still ahead.

• Daily flight availability makes it easy to match your schedule with your hotel check-in and first day's sightseeing plans.

Cost of Flights From Bangalore to Thailand

A few things move the Bangalore to Thailand fare. Knowing them helps you plan the trip and avoid overpaying.

Average Flight Cost

• Return economy fares usually range between ?18,000 and ?30,000.

• You can often save money by booking well in advance or during airline sales.

• Fares are generally higher during festivals, school holidays, and long weekends.

Direct vs Connecting Flights

• Nonstop flights usually cost more because they save time and offer greater convenience.

• Connecting flights are generally more affordable and are a good option for budget travellers who don't mind a longer journey.

• The price difference between nonstop and connecting flights varies depending on the airline and the travel season.

Seasonal Price Changes

• Fares are usually lowest from May to September, when fewer tourists visit Thailand.

• Prices are highest between November and February, thanks to pleasant weather and strong travel demand.

• March and October offer a good balance of comfortable weather and reasonably priced flights.

Best Time to Book Flights

• Booking your flights 2 to 3 months in advance usually gives you the best fares and the widest choice of seats.

• Last-minute bookings are typically more expensive and offer fewer flight options.

• Booking early also helps you secure better rates on hotels, transfers, and sightseeing activities.

Connecting Flights: What to Expect

If you go with a connecting flight, a little planning keeps the day smooth.

Common Layover Cities

• Most stops are at Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, or Bangkok, all well-run and easy to move through.

• These airports have food courts, rest areas, and shopping to fill a wait.

Layover Duration

• Layovers usually last 1 to 6 hours, depending on the route.

• A short stop gets you there faster, while a longer one gives you room to relax between flights.

• Leave enough time between flights so you do not risk missing your connection.

Transit Visa Requirements

• A transit visa is usually not needed if your layover is under 24 hours and you stay airside.

• Rules vary by country and airline, so confirm before you book. TravelTriangle can check this for your route.

Tips for a Comfortable Connection

• Pick a layover with enough time to walk between gates without rushing.

• For long waits, prefer airlines with meals, entertainment, or lounge access.

• Keep your documents and boarding passes within easy reach during the stop.

Reaching Thailand by Sea or Land: Is It Possible?

It is technically possible to reach Thailand overland, but it is not a realistic option for a holiday. Here is why travellers fly instead.

• Overland via Myanmar is very long: The route crosses several international borders and takes days. Road conditions are unpredictable, and the journey is tiring.

• It needs multiple visas and permits: You would need a Myanmar transit visa and border permits, with strict paperwork. One delay can undo the whole plan.

• Transport is limited and slow: Public connections for international tourists are limited on this route, and private transport is costly and uncomfortable.

• There is no ferry from India: No commercial passenger ferry links India to Thailand. The rare cruise options are seasonal and expensive.

So air travel wins on every count: it is quick, safe and reliable, and you arrive ready to enjoy the trip. TravelTriangle packages fold in flight coordination and airport transfers, so the start of your Thailand holiday is handled for you.

Visa Requirements for Indians Travelling From Bangalore to Thailand

Indians have one of the easiest entries in Asia into Thailand, and in 2026 most tourists do not need a visa at all.

Visa-free tourist entry: Indian citizens currently enter Thailand for tourism without a visa under the visa-exemption scheme. Carry a passport valid for at least six months, confirmed return tickets, and hotel bookings. The exemption length is in flux: the Thai Cabinet approved a move to a 30-day visa-free cap on 14 July 2026, effective 15 days after it is published in the Royal Gazette, so check the day limit in force before you fly.

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): Every arrival must complete the free online TDAC within 72 hours of travel. It has replaced the old paper TM6 card. Keep the confirmation on your phone.

If you need a longer or specific-purpose stay: A formal tourist e-visa is still available through the official Thai e-visa portal and usually takes 2 to 7 working days.

Slip-ups to avoid: Avoid travelling with a passport that has less than six months' validity, no blank pages for stamps, or overstaying your permitted stay, as this can result in fines at departure.

With visa-free entry and a simple online arrival card, planning a Bangalore to Thailand trip in 2026 is about as easy as international travel gets.

Best Time to Travel From Bangalore to Thailand

Thailand is warm most of the year, but the season you pick changes your comfort, your sightseeing and your budget. Here is how the three windows compare.

Peak season (November to February): Cool, dry, and low humidity. This is the best time to visit Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, and Pattaya, especially for beaches and island tours. Flights and hotels cost more, so book early.

Shoulder season (March and October): Weather is hotter with strong midday sun, but mornings and evenings remain pleasant. Crowds are smaller, and flight fares are generally lower.

Off-season (May to September): The monsoon brings short bursts of rain rather than all-day downpours. Flight fares and hotel rates are at their lowest, and the islands are greener and quieter.

For the best weather, aim for the peak months. For the best deals and fewer people, the shoulder or off-season works well. It comes down to your budget and how much heat or rain you will trade for a lower price.

Arrival in Thailand: What Happens After You Land

Arriving is straightforward, even on a first international trip. Thai airports are modern and clearly signed in English. Here is what to expect after you land.

Immigration and customs: Present your passport, TDAC confirmation, and any onward or return travel details. Officers may also ask for proof of your hotel booking or return flight. The process is usually quick when your documents are in order.

Currency and ATMs: Exchange counters and ATMs are located just after immigration. Withdrawing Thai Baht from an ATM often offers a better exchange rate for taxis, meals, and small purchases.

Local SIM cards: Airport telecom kiosks sell tourist SIM cards with affordable data plans, making it easy to use maps and contact your hotel as soon as you arrive.

Airport transfers: Choose from metered taxis, airport shuttles, public transport, or, in Bangkok, the Airport Rail Link. A pre-booked private transfer is the easiest option after a long flight, and TravelTriangle packages include it.

First-timer tips: Keep your documents handy until you clear immigration and check in, follow the English signage, and rely on cards or ATMs instead of carrying large amounts of cash.

Choosing the Right Travel Option Based on Your Trip Type

Thailand suits every kind of traveller, and matching the package to your group makes the trip run better.

Families: Kid-friendly resorts, relaxed sightseeing, and comfortable transfers, with easy schedules for children and elders.

Couples and honeymooners: Romantic resorts, beachside stays, and private experiences designed for two.

Solo travellers: Budget hotels, hostels, and guided group tours that are safe, affordable, and ideal for meeting new people.

Budget and luxury: Options ranging from value hotels to five-star resorts, tailored to your budget and travel preferences.

How Travel Packages Simplify Travel From Bangalore to Thailand

A package takes the busywork out of the trip because the big pieces are arranged before you go.

Flight-inclusive packages: Include flights from Bangalore, airport transfers, and hotels, so your flight timings and hotel check-in are well coordinated.

Land-only packages: Ideal for travellers who have already booked their own flights. These packages include hotels, local transport, sightseeing, and activities in Thailand.

Why book with TravelTriangle: expert planners tailor the trip to your budget, pricing is transparent with no hidden costs, packages are easy to compare, and local partners support you through the stay.

Ready to price it out? Browse Thailand tour packages from Bangalore to bundle flights, hotels and transfers into a single booking.

Common Travel Tips

A little preparation makes the trip smoother. Keep these in mind before you fly.

Documents: Carry your passport, TDAC confirmation, flight tickets, hotel bookings, and a photo ID in both digital and printed form.

Baggage: Check your airline's baggage allowance and cabin baggage limits before packing. Avoid carrying restricted items to prevent delays at security.

Health and safety: Pack basic medicines for fever, colds, and upset stomachs. Drink bottled or filtered water, and consider travel insurance for emergencies.

Local etiquette: Dress modestly when visiting temples by covering your shoulders and knees, remove your shoes where required, and remain polite and respectful.

Overall, we had a very good experience with our travel agent. The trip was planned well, all commitments were fulfilled as promised, and the coordination throughout the journey was smooth. The team was responsive, professional, and ensured that transfers, sightseeing, and bookings were arranged prop
erly, making the trip hassle-free. The only major disappointment was the hotel selected in Pattaya. The rooms were quite compact, we encountered cockroaches in the room, and the towels provided were not up to the expected standard. This part of the experience could have been much better. The itinerary was well designed overall; however, for some outdoor attractions, scheduling visits during the evening would have been preferable, especially during the summer season, to avoid the intense daytime heat and make sightseeing more comfortable. Despite these points, we appreciate the effort and support provided by the travel agent. The trip was enjoyable, and with a little more attention to hotel selection and timing of certain activities, the experience could have been excellent.

I recently completed my Thailand trip with Travelopedia, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Vrushabh's 7 days trip to Thailand

We recently booked an 11-day, 10-night land package to Thailand with Travtree Holidays, covering Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi. Traveling with a 2-year-old can be challenging, but the overall experience was smooth and well-coordinated. Our itinerary was packed with great activities. In Bangkok, Safa
ri World was a huge hit with our little one, and the temple tours were beautiful. The Krabi leg was fantastic—the 7 Island Tour and the Jungle Tour were standouts. In Phuket, the Phi Phi Island tour and the Old City tour were both well-managed and enjoyable. Since we only opted for the land package and airport transfers, we relied heavily on their punctuality. The transfers were seamless, which is a massive relief when you’re hauling luggage and a toddler! The only disappointment was the Elephant Sanctuary tour. It felt very rushed, lasting only about an hour and a half, which didn't quite meet our expectations compared to the quality of the other excursions. Overall, we had a wonderful family holiday. Travtree Holidays provided great service and reliable transport. Highly recommended for families looking for a well-organized Thailand experience!

We recently booked our family trip to Thailand with Travtree Holidays, and it turned out to be an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The entire itinerary was very well organized, making the trip smooth and stress-free—especially important when traveling with young children (our ki
ds are 2 and 5 years old). All pick-ups were perfectly on time, and the vehicles provided were clean, comfortable, and spacious, which made commuting easy and relaxing for the whole family. The hotels arranged for us were excellent—family-friendly, comfortable, and conveniently located. Everything was thoughtfully planned, allowing us to enjoy each destination without any hassle. A special mention goes to our visits to Siam Ocean World (sea life) and Safari World & Marine Park. Both experiences were incredibly impressive and became the highlight of our trip. Siam Water World was fantastic for the kids, with exciting views of the sea creatures penguins etc that they thoroughly enjoyed. Safari World was equally amazing—the safari drive and shows were captivating, and seeing the animals up close was a memorable experience for both adults and children. Overall, Travtree Holidays ensured a seamless, enjoyable, and perfectly managed vacation for our family. We truly appreciate their professionalism and attention to detail and would highly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Thailand—especially families traveling with young kids.

    Thailand Travel FAQs

Are there direct flights from Bangalore to Thailand?

Yes. Nonstop flights run from Bangalore to Bangkok, on airlines such as Thai Airways, IndiGo and AirAsia. Phuket and Krabi are reached with one stop.

How long does it take to fly from Bangalore to Thailand?

A direct flight to Bangkok takes about 4.5 to 5 hours. Connecting flights take 7 to 12 hours depending on the layover. By air, Bangalore to Bangkok is around 2,475 km, with Phuket near 2,320 km and Krabi near 2,390 km.

How many km is Bangalore to Bangkok by air?

About 2,475 km. It is 2,476 km to Don Mueang (DMK) and 2,492 km to Suvarnabhumi (BKK) as the crow flies. Your ticket may show slightly more, since aircraft follow air corridors rather than a straight line.

What is the distance from Bangalore to Phuket, Krabi and Pattaya?

By air, Bangalore to Phuket is about 2,320 km, Bangalore to Krabi about 2,390 km, and Bangalore to Pattaya about 2,510 km. Pattaya has no airport, so you fly to Bangkok and drive around two hours (about 150 km) south.

Is there a direct flight from Bangalore to Bangkok, and how long is it?

Yes, several daily nonstops cover the roughly 2,475 km in 4.5 to 5 hours. There is no nonstop to Phuket or Krabi from Bangalore, so those routes always include one stop.

Which Thailand city is closest to Bangalore?

By straight-line distance, Phuket (about 2,320 km) is marginally nearest, ahead of Krabi and Bangkok. But the only nonstop is to Bangkok, so Bangkok is the fastest to actually reach.

Which is the cheapest way to reach Thailand from Bangalore?

Booking early and choosing a connecting flight in the May to September off-season gives the cheapest fares. A flight-inclusive tour package can also work out cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately.

Which Thailand airport is best for first-time travellers from Bangalore?

Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi is the most convenient for first-timers, thanks to the nonstop flight, strong city connectivity and easy onward transfers.

Do Indians need a visa to travel to Thailand from Bangalore?

In 2026 Indian passport holders enter Thailand visa-free for tourism under the visa-exemption scheme. You do not need a visa sticker or visa-on-arrival for a standard holiday. Every arrival must complete the free online TDAC within 72 hours of travel.

What is the best time to book flights from Bangalore to Thailand?

Book 2 to 3 months ahead for the best fares and seat choice. Prices rise closer to departure and during festivals, school holidays and long weekends.

Is it better to book flights separately or as part of a tour package?

A tour package with TravelTriangle is often easier and cheaper, since it bundles flights, hotels and activities into one booking with transfers arranged. Booking separately can suit travellers who want full control over each piece.

What documents are required at the Thailand immigration for Indian travellers?

A passport valid for at least six months, your TDAC confirmation, a return or onward ticket, and hotel booking proof. Officers may occasionally ask for proof of funds.
