In my view, a slightly different itenary where we could removed places like Tezpur and Bomdila and included longer stays in Nameri and Dirang would have made the journey more comfortable 2) Quality of hotels varied widely. Ariyaan Athithya in Guwahati, Awoo resort in Dirang and Eco park in Nameri were great. Royal Regency in Tezpur was atrocious quality. We stayed the longest in Tawang but Tayatha was ill equipped - too small room, no hot water in the bathroom, sub standard service and bad quality food. Unfortunately, the best hotels were in Dirang and Nameri but we stayed only 1 night 3) The driver was cutting corners with regards to sight seeing and seemed more interested in reaching the place and retiring early

ere neither centrally located nor were these of required standards. Exception 2 of 3: The driver & vehicle changed at Assam-Meghalaya Border. Though the changed vehicle was OK but driver was indifferent to the requirements of tourists. He was in a hurry to complete the trip unless points of interest are specifically told in advance. He attempted to avoid points of attraction at Shillong. Shillong could have been planned for Saturday instead of Sunday, when museums were closed . Kamakhya Darshan at Guwahati could not be accomplished.

as per our preference. Had it not been for the initial glitches it would have been much better. One major feedback to improve upon would be transparent communication with the clients and the hotels where we were put up, most of the them had little information about us arriving, rooms were not booked as per our preference which were quite basic etc. But after a few calls to the agent few things got arranged and for few we had to let go. The trip was smooth and super largely because our smart, experienced and friendly driver - Mr. Bhaskar. He was the backbone of our trip. One major compliment for the agent is their silent persistence and patience with clients. They also changed our itineraries multiples times on request and tailor-made it specially for us since we didn't want days with constant long drives. Please do not expect 4 or five star level hospitality services from the hotel staff there despite their looks from the exterior, so set your expectations accordingly. Hotel Grand City at Tezpur was really mediocre so was Lungtha Residency at Bomdila (best food maybe our room wasn't). Pemaling at Dirang, Gyanki Khang Zhang at Tawang (try their cheese omlette), Waii at Bhalukpong and Aryan Athithya (Breakfast buffet was yumm) at Guwahati were all good with decent staff services. The scenic yet rocky drive, local veg thaalis with hot rotis served, one foot deep snow in Bumla Pass, delicious army canteen food (extremely cheap), friendly army men, excellent tea at Bumla Pass, floral view at orchadium were great places for us. One tip for future travellers, consider one day stay at Nameri - Eco Camp (5 kms from Bhalukpong). Also one caution - We got an expensive and awfully long and boring boat ride in the name of river rafting, so DO NOT do it. The experience of staying in their well made scenic camps will be truly memorable. Please get that one included in your itinerary. Our Itinerary - Tezpur - Dirang - Tawang (3 days) - Bomdila - Bhalukpong/Nameri Eco Camp - Guwahati.

things working for us...if you really want to enjoy the North East in luxory then plan your trip and decide your hotels well in advance... because hotels are not many and normally sold out fully during the season.. Our taxi driver cum guide Keshab tanti was good....our stay at Tspel Yongjam at Bomdila was excellent....as the hotel staff went out of way to organise my daughter's birthday part at one hour notice ...that too without any additional charges.....

From the moment I posted a request I got call from their holiday experts (Shreya Malviya) to understand my requirements, budget & they formed a quote sent it across to their trusted agents. I picked Kaziranga Tours Travels. Kaziranga Tours Travels : Why I picked them is interesting - when speaking with Mahendra Nath ji from KTT, I saw a point which mentioned having to trek for 20 mins. That scared me a bit since I was traveling with my a-bit-old parents & trekking wasn’t in their comfort zone. Mahendra Nath ji assured that I’m not to worry since if needed, the driver they assign to us will hold their hands & lead way if needed. That line stayed with me and I knew I would want to go with their service. My only initial requirement was to travel through Assam - Meghalaya- Tawang. KTT build a whole itinerary of 10 days around this simple request & it was well planned, not hectic or tiring. Driver and Guide : We got Bijoy as our driver and guide for the whole trip. Bijoy was punctual, calm, patient, covered everything in the itinerary and a pleasant company. His driving skills were put to test when we reached patches with only 2m visibility on hair pin bends over fog covered cloudy mountains & he aced it with great finesse! He knew all the routes & good places to eat. He was the best & all that we could’ve ever wished for. About the place : North east was heavenly. We visited lakes, waterfalls, living root bridge, Khasi village, monasteries, country border. We experienced sun, rain, cold and snow. We breathed in pure oxygen from the forests & held fresh snow in our hands. We experienced nature in all its glory that we don’t see in cities. We experienced the humility of the people there, admired their simple yet quality way of life & fell in love with their nature. I made an addition to the itinerary of visiting Mawlynnong village which I now feel could have been skipped since it’s commercialised now and has lost its charm. About the places we stayed (as per our budget) : Guwahati - Hotel Sun View (3.5/5) : was a strictly ok place to stay. Rooms were neat, had hot water supply, kitchens close at 10:30 pm (we landed Guwahati & reached hotel post midnight and had to go to sleep without food), don’t provide tea/coffee sachets as part of room service. Shillong - Eee Cee Hotel (5/5) : Good place to stay, has a restaurant downstairs, great location Tezpur - KRC Palace (5/5) : Really good place to stay, clean rooms, good service, friendly staff Dirang - Ta-Dzong Guest House (5/5) : This was a home stay so a different experience altogether. The people are kind and well mannered, delicious home made food and a really nice place to stay Tawang - Mon Paradise (4.5/5) : Again a really good place to stay. Their restaurant always serves warm water (God bless them since it was a relief in the cold weather), good food options & prepared well, friendly staff Bomdila - Hotel Tsepal Yangjom (4/5) : Wood interior throughout, again a good place to stay, tiny bathroom Overall it was a great trip thanks to Travel Triangle and Kaziranga Tours. We returned home truly oxygenated, abundant smiles, with a heart craving to visit the other unexplored places in North East India & our bags packed with memories that’ll last us a lifetime! This trip aptly explains ‘What matters more is the journey than the destination”. Each scenery was picture perfect & nature at its finest!
