However, to just visit Kashmir itself, the ideal time is during the summer – From March to September. It is easier to visit Sonmarg during these months as it stays closed during autumn and winter.

Summer

Kashmir is the perfect getaway to get some relief from the scorching summer heat. Families, students and couples find this an ideal time to have a perfect getaway as it gives them relief from the heat and also the time to relax. The temperature is a maximum of 30 degree Celsius which gives way to a pleasant atmosphere and perfect holiday mood. How to Reach Kashmir?

By Air

Kashmir is well connected through the air to all the major cities in India. The nearest airport to Kashmir is in Srinagar as there are no airports in Kashmir. The airport in Srinagar, Srinagar international airport is situated 14km away from the city. From there you can easily book a cab to the city.

By Train

The nearest railway station from Kashmir is the Jammu Tawi Railway Station in Jammu which is at a distance of 330 Km from the city. You can easily take a train from Ahmedabad to Jammu, however, the train ride of 27h and 10minutes can be very tiring. Although the scenic beauty of the city and your company can always make up for it. Sarvodaya Express is the fastest train that travels from Ahmedabad to Jammu, with a duration of 27h 10m. The other trains are Janmabhoomi Express, Vivek Express etc., they both are respectively the first and last trains to travel from Ahmedabad to Jammu. After arriving at the station, you can easily book a cab or take a bus to reach the city.

Ideal Duration

With the number of different tourist places the city has to offer, a weekend getaway seems to be hardly a duration that will do justice to this city. All good with Capture Kashmir tour operator. Ms. Mehak was passionate to organize the tour. Driver Aizeez was decent. The hotel arrangements are good except in the Hotel Devine Oak at Katra. We asked for single room with Quad sharing for 4 persons. Hence the room sizes in Hotel Azizia in Srinagar, Frosty mountain in Pahalgam were given good rooms. House boat experience at Srinagar was good except some communication gap between operator and boat organizer. On the whole , the tour went on well with Capture Kashmir. Also Thanks to Travel triangle.

"Finally, we completed our trip to Kashmir. It started well, as per the itinerary promised by Arooz. However, the Pahalgam attack drastically changed things, and we were eager to leave Kashmir and head back home due to the fear that gripped every face. But then, a magical turn came in our trip and I am very much thankful to Arooz(Breezy Travels) and Amir(Our Cab Driver). I messaged Arooz to change our hotel due to the attack, and she assured me that she would take care of it. Within no time, she changed my hotel. When I checked into the new hotel, my family and I felt safe, especially since an Indian army bunker was nearby. I asked Arooz to cancel our houseboat and continue with the hotel. Arooz worked tirelessly to secure a room for one more day, and finally succeeded. Throughout our trip, she kept calling and sending WhatsApp messages to check if we were okay and feeling safe. She even offered us to stay at her home, saying we were her responsibility. Her efforts touched our hearts, and we started feeling safe in Kashmir. We also can't forget our driver, Amir, who was with us for all six days. He became like family, and after the Pahalgam attack, he reassured me, "Don't worry, sir. I'll take a bullet before anything happens to you." He would call me multiple times a day to check if I was okay, if I'd eaten, and sometimes he'd arrive hours early just to boost my morale. The most touching moment was when he brought mangoes and bananas for my little child, saying, "Please take this so your child can have it when they're hungry." He even took me to a bat shop to fulfill my dream of owning a Kashmir willow bat." But I am expecting partial refund as I was like house arrest in hotel for half of my trip which I accept no one's fault, not you, travel agent or anyone... It's just if possible please provide partial refund Sonmarg snow mountains, kashmir willow bat

The Trip was awesome. It was my most awaited trip to remembered lifeline. Travel agent Farah from Hermosa trips has managed every thing very carefully . The driver provided by agent i.e. Imtiyaz was very helpful and caring. He fulfilled all our requirements including travel, food and shopping. Love to recommend all to book your trip through Hermosa trips. Only problem we faced was we had to book flight tickets from Srinagar to Jammu with a much higher price which was not expected. That happened due to landslide in Srinagar Jammu Highway. Though Farah managed the Hotel to airport drop the reschedule costs us Apx Rs 40000 more including that additional flight tickets and another day stay at Hotel . Initially as per package Katra Drop was included. Would have been more happy if any additional help in terms of some refund was there.

Karthik's 6 days trip to Kashmir

The overall experience was good. The trip was well planned. Booking experience with Arooj was great. She provided a lot of options before the final confirmation. Asif who was our guide during the entire trip was amazing! He guided us at every stage, advised on things that are good, smarter ways to get things done and lot of info on route to the places we were going. Since we spend a lot of time on travel, he has been very good travelling companion and made those long journey easy. The hotels that we were staying had consistent water problems. Unfortunately it was only our rooms which consistently had issues. Hence I have rated low on the Hotel Rating. The food has a sameness at every hotel especially for the vegetarians. You tend to get bored after 2 to 3 days. After a long journey entire day, we expect hotel experience to be seamless. Unfortunately we didnt find it. Recommendation is choose costlier and popular hotels where you would stay the longest in your trip. River Walk resorts was the best in our itinerary but we stayed just a night whereas Moonstone had the most issues and we stayed their the longest. Lessons learned.

The choice of agents and the co-ordination was very good. All of them were very polite. The website makes it easy, I hope it is made more efficient. We faced major issues in the description of the hotel room and the actual room in Gulmarg. It was so much smaller, no space to walk The people in Kashmir are super helpful. The cab driver- Aijaz bhai was very nice, helpful and extremely well-behaved. The horse rides are back-breaking! Tulip Garden Dewan by Royal Naqash Houseboat stay
