Soumo's 6 days trip to Bhutan

This review/testimonial is coming a lot late in the day. Nevertheless the entire experience of my travel/ trip to Bhutan compelled me to write it down. Before I start I must give a disclaimer that the words written here will never be able to put down the real experience that was originally felt or seen. My trip was from June 6-11(6 days) in which I covered Phuentsholing- Thimpu- Paro and back to Phuentsholing. I wanted to surprise my parents by taking them with me to some place nice to beat the heat of summer. I being a practising Lawyer I had the month of June available to put the plan in action. However due to work pressure I couldn't plan anything. I couldn't even choose a place to visit. Naturally I planned my trip at the eleventh hour in last week of May. I was web searching various holiday destination in and around India. And Bhutan caught my eye. Then while searching for various travel review and also searching for a travel agent ( cause as I said I had no time to do self booking) I stumbled upon this website Travel Triangle (TT). I looked up on its website, read various testimonials such as this. Ms. Sushmita From TT helped out a lot provided me with various trips from many travel agent and after a little bit of research I zeroed on the trip provided by Himavat Destination. I called up the number given in web. Ms Ranjita Thapa was my point of contact in Himavat Destination. My entire was practically tailor made as per my specifications given by me as I wanted to have maximum comfort for my parents. I choose from the best hotels as per my need to the car for pick up and drop right from New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) to Phuentsholing then from rest of the trip and back to Bagdogra Airport. And Sushmita and Ranjita made it possible for me. I must compliment these two persons as I disturbed them a lot and they basically stayed connected with me the entire trip. Both of them were very courteous and we're extremely helpful. Not only that once the trip started on 6th they made a WhatsApp group with many other people who were my point of help in Bhutan. That really helped. So now the details of my trip: We reached NJP on 6th at about 11am. On 5th itself I was given the details of driver who was waiting for us before our arrival. Car was WagonR. After a quick lunch at Teesta Barrage we started our journey towards Phuentsholing. The road goes through Hasimara- Alipurduar- Jaigaon. Road was comparatively good. The entire journey took is about 4-5 hrs. Road goes through Lush green forest in Hasimara. Huge Tea Estates in Jaigaon Alipurduar. Scene was worth capaturing. You can see groups of women plucking tea leaves. When you reach Jaigaon you can see the Mountains on distant horizons which indicates that you are nearing Bhutan border. The entire trip was very comfortable. Just as you enter Bhutan there are few things which is bound to falls in your notice. One the population-crowd ( Entire population of Bhutan is approximately 7.5 lacs only) and temperature suddenly and significantly goes down. Buildings have distinct architecture. Very little cars on road therefore zero pollution, air quality improves. Lots of trees which are not deforested for urbanisation or otherwise. Roads are butter smooth and well maintained and finally but not lastly no garbage on streets. Bhutanese people in their native clothes Gho (clothes worn by the men) and Kira(worn by Women). Bhutanese people are highly sensitive about cleanliness of not only their own homes but also their country which in my opinion is commendable. So we finally reached Phuentsholing checked in Hotel Alem. It's perched on a hilltop. The hotel was very good. Rooms were spacious, with all amenities Hotel staffs were very courteous and friendly. We reached there by 4-5 pm. As we were little exhausted we had our dinner in Hotel only and spent the night in the hotel only. Please note the driver who brought us to the hotel was given only till this point. Next day onward we got a local driver named Ugyen Rinzin who stayed with us for the entire trip within Bhutan. So next day (7th June) early morning me and my father went for a little Morning walk around the town. We did a heavy breakfast (which was included in the package itself) then Ugyen (driver) and Ms. Karma (our guide) was waiting with his Hyundai Tucson in which we first went to the immigration office for getting permits. It took us good 3 hrs over there as it was a little crowded. We bought a local sim for mobile as Indian numbers don't work over there. Also got currency exchanged as we were told that 2000 RS and 500 RS notes in Indian currency was not accepted in Bhutan which later I found to be not true. Yes, Indian currency is easily accepted all over Bhutan. After completing the immigration permits we started for Thimpu. Road to Thimpu from Phuentsholing goes through mountain pass at high altitude. As we climbed up the altitude the Greenery increased many folds and temperature droped further. we were going through heavy clouds and rain with almost zero visibility which made the journey mountain pass quite dangerous yet full of adventure and excitement. Scenic beauty was beyond words even the photos captured by my camera has watered down it's beauty, rustic smell of ground after first flush of rain and it's overall serenity. I was reminded of the lines from the poem written by John Keats - "A thing of beauty is joy forever." We stopped for lunch on the way and reached Thimpu after 5 hrs of drive at around 4 pm. We checked into our Hotel Oro Villa which is on the periphery of city perched on an elevated Hillside overlooking the city itself. View of the city from our hotel room was breath taking. One can spend hours overlooking the the imperial capital locked in the valley of mountains on its all sides. Thimpu is the only place which you can term as a city. It being the capital of Country has all amenities like big Hospitals, Markets, etc. Plus the major portion of population of the country resides here. That evening we took a stroll and explored the surrounding areas of the city. There are many shops of curios, local clothes and handcrafts which one should explore. People throughout Bhutan are very honest, friendly, approachable and are extremely helpful. One thing is visible everywhere is that people of Bhutan loves and respects their King And Queen like their own parents. Present King is also called People's King. Indian food is easily available in the hotels so we had dinner and spent the rest of evening overlooking the city from our room balcony and chit chatting with each other. Next day (8th June) we went for local sightseeing which includes Tashicho Dzong, Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma which is a huge statute of Buddha over a hill top overlooking the City., a place called Simply Bhutan which I will recommend for every tourist to visit as it gives you insight of Bhutanese Culture, traditions, taste of local Cuisine, etc. We got a guide named Ms Pema who showed us around. We had the lunch there and also met a famous national paraplegic sculptor Mr. Pema Tshering. We also visited local Textile Museum and local Handicraft Market. Bhutan is famous for Sterling jewellery, Gem stones, Tankhas, and crockery. After a day well spent we returned to our hotel took a little rest and again visited local town on foot in the evening. Weather in Thimpu is very pleasant. Hotels don't have Fans, air-conditioning systems. Next day (9th June) after Breakfast we went to Paro. The trip took us 2-3 hrs as the roads were extremely good and well maintained. We reached Paro by 11 am and went straight to Taktsang Lakkhang (Tiger's Nest) monastery. I did the trekking with my father. Now one thing to be kept in mind trek of Taktsang is Moderately tough. It takes 3 hrs to go up and equal time to come down. But the view and the experience was simply mesmerizing. I being trek lover person would recommend it for every one who are physically fit person to undertake this trek. So we completed our trek and got down by 6 pm. We were completely exhausted so took rest for the rest the day in our hotel Yanki Resort. Next morning (10th June) we did local sightseeing visited Airport View point overlooking Paro International airport. From this point the entire airport looks like Hotwheels Play set, then we visited Paro Museum, Paro Dzong and then we started our return journey to Phuentsholing. After completing the sightseeing it took us another 4-5 hrs. That evening we went out again to explore Phuentsholing. Here we bid adieu to Uygen as there was other driver given for our journey back. Next day (11th June) after heavy Breakfast we bid adieu to Bhutan and Returned to Bagdogra Airport for our returning flight. So this was my testimonial for my trip to Bhutan. now during this entire trip Ms Ranjita Thapa from Himavat along with other people stayed in contact with me looking after our comfort which I truly believe made the entire trip wonderful and joyable. I thank Travel Triangle ( specially Sushmita) and Himavat Destination ( specially Ranjita) for their support.

Ankur's 8 days trip to Sikkim - Gangtok - Darjeeling

It was a perfect vacation and well planned and executed by Mr.Ajay. From pickup to drop at New Jalpaiguri every trip with in Sikkim was on time. All the Drivers were very good , professional and soft spoken. No Extra charge was taken from us throughout trip which was unknown to us. The itinerary says everything and you need to read it carefully. It includes all prices EXCEPT the passes you need to take for Nathula pass, North Sikkim (zero point) etc. Everything was perfectly explained and totally transparency was maintained regarding the money. NO CHEATING AT ALL FROM MR.AJAY & TRAVEL TRIANGLE. You can ask Ajay as many questions as you can and discuss with him n number of time and he will not run out of patience. I have been in discussion with him from Jan 2016 and the trip was in April Mid. He supported us with all the details regarding the weather, hotels and food as we were travelling with 3 children including an infant. He planned everything perfectly, You can choose from economy trip to luxury one depends on your pocket, Ajay has all to offer you and you can count on him for the same. You may think the economy may not have good pic online available or something but one thing we experienced when we reached there is that all the hotels are very decent and clean and maintain and more so over people are soo good and helping that you won’t feel away from home. Well Planned, well coordination, no cheating, well communication, very punctual, well execution …..What more you want from your trip adviser?? Thanks Ajay(We care holidays) for making our trip Memorable…..  Indian has got so much to visit and see that we realized when reached Sikkim. Everyone talks about all hill stations in HP and Uttaranchal and J&K but not much heard or spoke about Sikkim. Sikkim, one of the most beautiful place one can visit. Usually you have places and point to visit in any holiday designation but that’s not same with Sikkim. The entire holiday destination itself is a view point ... There is no place in Sikkim which you can rule out of your list until unless you have time constraints.. We covered Gangtok(best ever mall road MG Marg), North Sikkim (Lachen, Lachung), West Sikkim (Pilling) and no comparisons but every single point has got its own beauty. Still to point out places that can be covered it would be Gangtok, Changu Lakh, Baba dev mandir, Nathula pass, Lachen, Lachung, Zero Point, Katau, Gurudurmarg Lakh(One of the highest lakh is the world), Kachanjhangha mountain range etc etc..... All the places names earlier are worth watching and travelling to those with innumerous water falls on the ways is a treat... What a view all around, anywhere you can stop by to click and breath the fresh air, enjoy the mesmerizing view... Not to mention the entire state is organic so everything you eat also is out of organic raw material so good for health... Things to keep in mind/take care off---- 1: No expectation of good roads.... 2: Mosquitoes, so for kids have some good precautions. 3: Depends of weather you go but if you going around winter or rainy time then make sure you have enough warm clothes for yourself and kids... 4: High altitudes like zero point, Nathula pass, Chagu lakh tough for very small kids , may be 3yrs or above will be fine but not less than that i will recommend. All these places are just awesome, you will see and feel yourself . 5:For Gurudurmarg lakH aged people or with medical condition like BP, Heart problem, Asthma, etc and kids below 8 yrs not allowed. You will be stopped but the army to proceed so no point in taking chances. Also make sure you have popcorn to eat when you reach lakh and DON’T RUN, SPEAK MUCH. Do everything slowly so that you dont increase your Oxygen requirement. This place you have thin air so less oxygen content. Best to start from Lachen for Gurudurmarg is 3-4 am in the morning so that you reach early and come back. 6: You can get all warms jackets, boots gloves, caps, etc on rent everywhere so in case required you can avail the same. 7: Please discuss about the extra to be paid for Nathula pass, zero point or any other additional place you want to visit, mostly its 2500-3000 per car still you can get it confirmed with the your trip Advisor. Please do understand this money goes directly to driver completely so don’t think your trip advisor is cheating you or earning something out of it. It’s pointless for me to write and you to read... All i want to say is Go and Visit Sikkim and feel yourself what we felt.... What a trip it was..... Perfect. Sikkim is a place you will love you go and who knows may plan even your retirement. :)

Being a border state, Sikkim is a not a usual tourist destination where you hire the cab and book the hotels online. You have to go via a tour operator to most places, especially the most beautiful places in Sikkim, so get a tour guide and I would definitely recommend Samyatra. A tour operator adds considerable value in Sikkim since he helps you gain permits to Lachung, Nathula and Tsomghu lake, book hotels and coordinate with cab drivers. Looking back, I wish I had taken the services of Samyatra tours for the entirety of the trip but I went in March and due to heavy snow and many places being closed, I had a dynamic plan which consisted of waking up and planning what to do. Neeraj helped me not only plan for the first two days for which I had paid in advance via TravelTriangle but he helped us plan the rest of the trip and gave us considerable advice for Lachung and Darjeeling even though I did not give him any business. I booked a cab for the first two days with Samyatra and both the drivers were nice (the second one was really good). He was very much flexible and patient with our situation in spite of me being a hard, painful customer. Sikkim is not the usual tourist destination where you can hire the cab by yourself for all the days and book the hotels online. You will reach Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri which is in West Bengal but WB cabs can only drop tourists in Gangtok but cannot do further sightseeing. Similarly, Sikkim cabs can drop to Darjeeling but can't go sight seeing. By no means you will have the same cab driver everyday. There are just way too many hoops. You have to go via a tour operator to most places, especially the most beautiful places in Sikkim, so get a tour guide. Jamalshahnaz's 5 days trip to Sikkim - Gangtok - Darjeeling

Very happy with hotels and services. Not so much with our travel advisor, they were not picking calls properly. Thanks to Ms. Sharmeela, the agent from siliguri, she was quite helpful. But there is no proper intimation of complete information which was a slight drawback for us. An advisor's work should be to advice, for instance, we asked to include tsomgo lake and payed extra for it, it needs prior permission. So we went to tsomgo lake but only 5 kms ahead of it is Nathula Pass which again needs prior permission, which could be advised to us But we came to know about it when we were there, so could not go. Again, regarding hotel checking ins, our pickup from new jalpaiguri was @ 6am, they dropped us @ hotel in darjeeling by 8:30am. When we checked at counter they said we will get room by 12pm. If we were told earlier, we were already staying in new jalpaiguri comfortably, we would have started a little late. So just these small things otherwise it was a nice trip. We enjoyed the trip alot and looking forward to going with you guys again, just if you improve on these small information providing things. We are definitely going to recommend to others also. The place is absolutely stunning, from darjeeling's sunrise to gangtok's tsomgo lake, everything was so beautiful. We have created many memories with my family.
