The route of the train allows the passengers to explore the beautiful natural sites of Darjeeling and other nearby locations. The train gives the opportunity to explore the eastern Himalayas. The beautiful plantations and hills come together to offer a picturesque view during the train journey. The train connects New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling. On the journey, the train goes from Siliguri, Kurseong and Ghoom.

The train starts at New Jalpaiguri and slowly climbs up the high altitudes. The highest point of the journey is Ghoom that has 7,400 feet altitude above the sea level.
The route offers the mesmerizing views of Mt Kanchenjunga and the incredible scenic beauty of the Darjeeling landscape and during the journey, the train passes through many bridges, including five major and around 500 minor.
