The amazing sand dunes spread over Moreton Island allow you to indulge in thrilling dune-bashing and tobogganing adventures, while the experience of feeding/watching wild dolphins in the evening is an exhilarating experience. From hiking world’s highest coastal sand dune to witnessing fascinating marine life at the ship wrecks off Tangalooma, a trip to this beautiful Australian destination is one you will cherish for years to come.
Places To Visit
1. Cape Moreton Lighthouse
Standing tall as the oldest operating lighthouse of Queensland, it offers a chance to witness panoramic views of the entire landscape and also to spot whales, dolphins and turtles from that height.
2. Mount Tempest
At 285 metres, this is considered to be the highest coastal sand dune in the world and one that allures adventure seekers to hike up in the sand and be rewarded by sweeping views of the entire island, Moreton Bay and sparkling coastline around Brisbane.
3. Blue Lagoon
Amongst the lovely freshwater lakes around Tangalooma, Blue Lagoon is the most famous and enchanting one. Its cool refreshing water and white sand entice travellers to take a rejuvenating dip. Nature lovers can also spot beautiful birds and wildflowers around it.
4. Harper’s Rock
The area around Tangalooma is a treasure trove of natural wonders and this surreal red-sand formation is one amongst them. Towards the eastern side of Moreton Island, these other-worldly formations make you feel like walking through the sets of Star Wars.
5. Champagne Pools
The shimmering water pools that get their name due to the mesmerizing hues of water twirling in the volcanic rocks, are a great spot by the ocean to take a refreshing dip in the cool waters and simply laze around soaking in the scenic beauty in the vicinity.

Once in Brisbane, you can catch a ferry that reaches Tangalooma in about 75 minutes and makes four rounds from either side each day.
