Best Time To Visit Istanbul

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

The best time to visit Istanbul is during the spring and fall season which is in the months of April, May, and September to November. The temperature during these months ranges from 16 °C to 28 °C. Istanbul sees the highest number of travelers during spring and fall season, as the weather during these months is cool and dry and outdoor activities can be enjoyed easily. From late May to early September is the peak season for Istanbul vacations. The sun shines bright and yellow in the sky, and the beaches are crazily crowded throughout these months. The eastern side of Istanbul has a more extreme type of climate than the west, which enjoys similar weather conditions to that of Mediterranean Europe.

March-May (7°C to 16°)

March-May marks the beginning of another high season in Istanbul. With clear skies, lots of wind and a pleasant climate, the temperature during this time is perfect for sightseeing and local tours if not for the beach. It stays pleasant over the course of three months before the heat starts to rise in late May, thus making this shoulder season the best time to visit Istanbul before summer.

Moreover, an opportunity to attend the Istanbul Tulip Festival, Istanbul Film Festival and some other fun-filled Istanbul festivals make the tour even more memorable.

June - August (18°C to 28°)

Compared to the rest of Turkey, Istanbul enjoys a more moderate climate during this time. Still, it is quite hot and humid in Istanbul now, with large crowds and higher rates of hotels and airfare. The beaches are at their best and the seafood is freshest.

However, the cons of visiting during this time are the crowd and cost of accommodations; the pros are International Music Festival and International Jazz Festival held during this time.

September - November (13°C to 20°)

Just like the spring shoulder season, autumn too is a nice time to travel to Istanbul. If you visit Istanbul in November, chances are you will get the best of both worlds – the leftover warmth from the summer and its perks, as well as the creeping coolness of the upcoming winter.

Besides the festivals like Istanbul International Puppet Festival, Istanbul Theatre Festival and more add memories to the journey.

December - February (1°C to 7°)

Unless you have a problem with cold and rain, December through February can also be a good time for a visit. Because of experiencing one of the coldest seasons, the region offers some of the best accommodations at very low prices with lucrative discounts everywhere, which is quite a big incentive.

Another perk of visiting from December to January is that you must not have to wait in long queues. Apart from that, you can be part of one of the best Istanbul events, called the International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival, and have an amazing experience.

Best time to Visit Istanbul for Shopping: Istanbul is home to many markets, boutiques, stalls, and spice bazaar. The famous things to buy from these markets are carpets, rugs, jewelry, spices, hand-painted ceramics. If you are visiting Istanbul for shopping, the best time to visit Istanbul is in December and January which is around Christmas and New Year.  Best time to Visit Istanbul for a Bosphorus Cruise:  Bosphorus Cruise is one of the highlights while planning a visit to Istanbul. The best time to go for Bosphorus Cruise is in the month of May or in the mid of September. Watch dolphins while cruising on the river and get a chance to meet the friendliest marine animal. Best time to Visit Istanbul for Sightseeing: The best time to visit Istanbul is when it is neither too hot or cold. For this reason, spring season in the month of May and April is considered to be the best time to visit the capital city. Istanbul sees a rise in the number of crowds during the spring season. The place is dotted with blooming and colorful flowers. Most of the adventure and outdoor activities can be enjoyed easily during this weather.  Best time to Visit Istanbul for Beaches: If you are looking to explore the gorgeous beaches in Istanbul, the best time to visit is in Summers in the months of July, August, and September. One can enjoy a plethora of water activities during the summer season.

Climate in Istanbul

Summer Season in Istanbul

Istanbul summers are milder than most of Turkey, especially the eastern part. But it is still hot enough for you to sweat while sightseeing. From late spring to early fall is the high season in Istanbul and summer just falls right in the middle of it. From cruises to beach adventures to local sightseeing – everything is crowded during this time of the year. The months preceding and succeeding the peak summer months, that is March-April and September-October is the best month to visit Istanbul.

Monsoon Season in Istanbul

Being situated in the Mediterranean region, Istanbul gets most of its rainfall during the winter season. November to February is when the average rainfall is highest, with late-December and early-January the wettest months. This is not the greatest time to visit Istanbul, though the prices will be really tempting.

Winter Season in Istanbul

Just before winter begins, the prices of hotel fares and flight tickets start to plummet; which means you can enjoy a vacation to Istanbul in a really reasonable budget during this time. However, the weather is not as beautiful as summer. The heat is not there and you will not be sweating, and there will also be no line at the many attractions. But you will miss out on the Mediterranean summer.

Prasad's 9 days trip to Istanbul

When we decided to visit Turkiye during end of March, it was well known that it is off-season and the best time to visit was during spring ie. April-May. But, other constraints have compelled us to plan the trip from 24-March 2024 to 03-April 2024. No regrets as Turkiye is always beautiful and well
explorable. The initial discussions were over with Mr Abhishek Gupta from Offbeat Trippers and finally we have decided to go with their offer for the 11 day tour covering Istanbul, Kappadocia, Kusadasi, Pamukkale, Antalya and back to Istanbul. We kept one day on reserve in Antalya for exploring the beautiful beaches and one day for Istanbul in the end to complete shopping. The tour plan covered all major attractions with internal flights and all airport transfers and hotel accommodations. Daily tours were planned meticulously with perfect time schedules. Daily tours were well executed, mostly in small and comfortable groups, and some of the tour guides were par above excellence. All the parameters were fulfilled in a perfect way without giving a chance for any complaints. Accommodation we chose was all 3-star as we will be in the hotel just for the sleep in the late night and moving out in the early mornings. Those who are very particular about the room size and location may opt 4-star or 5 star accommodations. Turkiye is a place which should be in the bucket list of every travel enthusiast as it gives an awesome and different experience. People are mostly very good and supportive and any other response may be just because of the frustrations as the country is passing through severe inflation. It was all perfectly planned and executed, we could cover the entire stretch as planned without much difficulties. Appreciate Mr Abhishek Gupta for his interactions and availability almost round the clock for any clarifications. If I start writing about the detail itinerary and everyday experiences, pages will not be sufficient here. I just want to say that Turkiye is fantastic and fabulous welcoming you and never skip if you get a chance to visit Turkiye. Big applauses to Offbeat Trippers who made it all possible and I am signing of with utmost satisfaction.

Overall 5 Stars, our Turkey trip with Lykk Travel was an incredible journey filled with unforgettable memories, and we have Ms.Priya Pathak to thank for her exceptional trip planning. Every aspect of our journey was very smoothly orchestrated, including airport transfers and city tours in Antalya,
Cappadocia. From traditional kebabs to mouthwatering baklava, each meal was a culinary delight that added an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip. Additionally, stay near the metro in Istanbul during our trip proved to be incredibly convenient and helpful. Loved the baklavas at Hafiz Mustafa. We highly recommend Lykk Travel and Priya Pathak to anyone looking for a truly superb and memorable travel experience.

The trip was very well organized. The WhatsApp group is an excellent idea! The hosts in Turkey were very responsive especially Erman, Duha and Esra. The pickups were dot on time and the vehicles were top class. The accommodations were in central areas. The tour guides were very professional and f
riendly. Just a few points/suggestions- 1. The tours could be more of sight seeing than promoting expensive shopping stops

Fly Goldfinch made our 7 nights and 8 days in Turkey very enjoyable. They were always accessible to answer any questions I had, and they did it as quickly as they could. I was able to properly plan my trip thanks to all the information they gave me. I truly want to bring up Sakshi, Amir, and Pooja.
Sakshi made easy work of organizing our vacation, Amir handled all of my ad hoc needs and support while we were in Turkey, and Pooja assisted us with obtaining our visas. The best thing about Fly Goldfinch is that all of their Turkish associates were excellent, they were all really timely and supportive. I would especially like to thank Mr. Mehmet and Mr. Ercan for going above and beyond to successfully deliver my engagement ring to Istanbul, which I had left behind in a hotel in Antalya. Many thanks to the fly gold finch team and everyone connected to them.

Amazing trip to Turkey - Istanbul, Cappadocia, Kusadasi and Pamukkale with Travel Lykke. Rahul helped me with the initial hotel and itinerary planning. The Support team consisting of both Turkish travel partners and coordinators from Lykke were connected throughout on WhatsApp. It was a pleasant exp
erience interacting with the Support team handling unexpected situations like change of hotels at the last minute (for no fault of theirs), or managing to get a direct flight instead of a connecting flight (that saved us loads of time and energy). The flight and hotel transfers were impeccably managed. The tour guides were knowledgeable and shared lots of history and details about the tours. Overall, an unforgettable trip with incredible memories

We have had a good experience with Travel Lyke (and corbeico travels team) in regards to our recent Turkey Trip. Although they cut corners at some places, overall it was satisfactory and professionally managed. While Capadoccia aight seeing was thorough, Istanbul sightseeing not enough. Important pl
aces like Dolmabache palace and Basilica cistern was not included. Pamukkale-Hierapolis trip was memorable and despite our flight to Istanbul was delayed by 45 minutes, pick up was waiting for us.

I had a great trip to Turkey, a wonderful country, and very humble hosts. I visited Antalya, Cappadocia and Istanbul. Istanbul was average, just the nightlife is great. City and museum tours are very boring. Make sure to have more days in Cappadocia as the hot air balloons are frequently cancelle
    d due to bad weather.

Santanu's 7 days trip to Istanbul

Trip booking and negotiations on travel triangle was smooth and done swiftly. Price was decent and I liked the approach of travel agent, who unhesitatingly and tirelessly worked to fit the itinerary in our budget. However during trip faced multiple issues due to which I have given 4 stars. Firstly
had to follow up multiple times to agent for travel, cab and tour vouchers during tour. Details should have been provided earlier but agent chose to provide them just 1 day prior. Thank god we had international roaming! Secondly, for Istanbul city tour agent arranged a tour entirely different from itinerary. Instead of city tour they gave us a cruise tour which didn't cover all the sightseeings. However after multiple follow ups and calls, they arranged for the tour which was promised. And lastly, inspite of our tickets being included in tour cost, they made us pay INR 4500 for Pamukkale sightseeing tickets. This was unwarranted and took us by surprise. Though they said they will refund the cost, they have not provided any solution as yet in last 7 days. Other than these hiccups I have good memories in the trip and booking on Cheap Travellers with agent Nishant Sinha. Best places are Istanbul and Kusadasi for lots of sightseeing and fun experiences. Cappadocia is dusty and nothing much except expensive hot air balloon. Pamukkale pools are much hyped, walking is difficult let alone swimming in them. I will suggest to stay in Istanbul atleast 3Nights, and rent a self drive car. Indian license is valid here. Stay away from grand bazaar, it's for Europeans not Indians! However shops outside grand bazaar are much better. City stays awake late, so get an Istanbul pass and hop around on trams and metros, avoiding cabs as much as possible
