UAE Travel Guide

UAE, the United Arab Emirates, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, especially Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Travelers would be well advised to read this UAE travel guide and carry a UAE tourist map to find out all that they need to know about the country. The story of UAE’s rise to power and stardom is an interesting one. From being a small backwaters country, with fishing villages like Dubai, it has now become one of the most influential countries of Asia. The country is a federation of seven emirates, namely Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah and Umm al-Quwain. Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE and a major focal point for UAE tourism.

The country is bordered by Oman on the east, Qatar on the west, Iran on the north and Saudi Arabia on the south. A unique fact about UAE is that the country is home to a mere 1.4 million Emirati citizens, whereas the number of expatriates is around 8 million. Emirates such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi are well known for their modern man-made marvels and advanced technology. One of the top tourist attractions in UAE, Dubai is also known for its myriad shopping opportunities in terms of fairs and festivals, where people from all over the world gather to purchase the latest gadgets at the lowest prices.

Tourism in UAE takes you to many attractions, such as the Burj Khalifa, from the observation deck of which one can allegedly see entire Dubai. It is the tallest building in the world and has a dozen other such epithets assigned to it. The Atlantis, another must visit, is also a man-made marvel that is worth a visit, being an artificial island that was created on land reclaimed from the sea. But that is not all that the UAE is famed for man-made marvels! Instead, there are hundreds of natural wonders in the country as well as, such as the sun-kissed beaches, the exotic deserts, the towering mountains and so much more.

From the souks of Dubai that still carry the old world charm of an ancient civilization to the modern day shopping malls and multiplexes of Sharjah that leave little to the imagination, UAE should be a must on every traveler’s list. The best time to visit UAE is spring and fall seasons i.e. April-May and September-October. However, December through March, when the temperatures are lower, is the most popular time to visit the United Arab Emirates.

Although a small country, the UAE has a number of unique places, be it natural or man-made, that make it one of the most interesting places to visit in the world. It doesn’t matter if you are on a honeymoon, a family vacation or a solo trip, this country has something or the other to offer for people of all preferences and budget. Make sure to read this UAE tour guide thoroughly to find out exactly how to explore the country to its full potential.

Whether you're standing in the shadow of towering Burj Khalifa in Dubai or modern Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, the UAE attractions draw in all kind of tourists. Be it a romantic getaway with your better half or a family vacation, the UAE is a wonderful holiday destination. So wait no more and apply for a UAE visa to visit this glamorous gulf country. Dubai International Airport (DXB), Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), and Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) are major international airports in the UAE.

How to Reach UAE

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

There are several airports in UAE, out of which 10 are international airports that offer connectivity to destinations all over the world, be it Europe, Africa or Asia. The busiest airport in UAE is the Dubai International Airport, followed by the Abu Dhabi International Airport and the Sharjah International Airport. Some of the other international airports of the country include Ai Ain International Airport, Fujairah International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport, Dalma Airport, Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International Airport, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Sir Bani Yas Airport. Several airlines serve these airports and offer regular as well as seasonal flights from almost all major destinations of the country. As far as your answer to how to reach UAE is concerned, the best way is by flights, which are pretty affordable and save a lot of time when your main concern is sightseeing and shopping.

By Train

The national railway of UAE is the Etihad Rail, which connects the 7 emirates of the country to each other. With air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi in all the stations across the country as well as in most of the trains, the railways of UAE are a lavish affair indeed. However, there is currently no rail connections between UAE and other countries, although it is being considered that the service of Etihad Rail be extended to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. But until that happens, there is no rail connectivity between UAE and other countries.

By Road

The only country from where UAE can be directly reached via roads is Oman. If coming from other countries such as Bahrain and Qatar, UAE is still easy to reach but one has to enter Oman first. If you are looking to reach UAE by road from a city in India, it is possible but the effort and the money spent would surely not be worth it. In addition, travelers would have to get visas in advance from many other countries that would have to be crossed in order to reach UAE by road.

One important thing is that whatever has been discussed it should be delivered but in my case travel executives told us to pay the booking amount asap so that hotel can be reserved but after paying booking amount or confirmation amount still it was not reserved the committed hotel and I got the less superior hotel with high amount. Also, returning flight we got it from Sharjah instead of Dubai even Flying with Indigo Not worthy which was suppose to get the Return tickets either from Emirates or Airdibai. Rest all good to me.

Our Overall trip was excellent other than 2 instances of mis-communication. Thank you so much for making our trip memorable. - Next day of arrival there is a confusion in the I-ternary details, due to which we happen to stay at Hotel half day. if it was informed early we would have utilised the time appropriately. - Return flight was booked by Fly Dubai (Partner with Emirates) where the flying experience is bad. I totally don't blame the Agency but it would be good if you clarify such differences and give an option to the customer. If i would have known, could have paid more and choose to fly back by Emirates flight. But Overall we enjoyed the trip. Thank you, Naveen, Lakshmi & Pranav

Flights booked were very inconvenient. 12 hrs stopover in Hongkong. Why book visit Hongkong flights for East Coast trip?? On teaching Newyork we were not taken to Hotel to freshen up. Instead dropped at a vague place where we got no vegetarion food. We were asked to shell out 120usd if we wanted to go to hotel first, whereas the same was part of itinerary. We should actually be given refund of the same amount as a promised service was not given pl

    • Trip to USA

Hi My trip to USA was great, even though its a tailor made package it was leisurely planned and well organised. I cannot miss out to say the complete coordination of Mr. Piyush who has been throughout live 24/7 in case of any emergency and the hotel locations was just awesome and just the right locality. only disappointment was every hotel charges a recreation fee or resort fee which was not mentioned earlier in terms of value. it varies from 30usd to 50usd for 3 nights appx depends upon the class and location. needless to mention all events or tours organised with overseas suppliers need to be reconfirmed with the supplier 24 hrs in advance, this was not insisted which made us to have some communication issues. if this would have been cared by Travel triangle its of great support. Overall we had a great holiday with travel triangle...and a big thank to Mr.Piyush for the complete coordination. Would highly recommend travel triangle for any overseas trip.

The trip was excellent, i was in San Diego for 1 day and the hotel they booked was not ready for early checking or keep my luggage in safe storage. Due to which i had to wait till 3:00 pm. After which I was allowed to check in. There was delay as their systems were not working and manage to enter my room after 4:00 pm. Realized it was late and not to spend 30$ taxi fare to and fro for few hours. Decided to skip Sea World hotel had worn and old furniture with cockroaches. Rest everything was as planned. Apart from small hiccup, i would say rest of the trip was well planned and would choose them

    • Trip to Ladakh

LehLadakh journey helped us a lot in curating the itinerary based on our preferences. Be it a choice of hotels, cabs and places of interest, they were very open to hear us out from the beginning and prepared a best itinerary considering all the safety/tiredness aspects related to the journey. They were very helpful in providing all possible tips to be taken care of in our journey to Leh-Ladakh. We had a very pleasant stay at four places : 2 days in Hotel Kaal in Leh, 1 Day Tent stay in Cozy Ethnic Camp in Nubra Valley, 1 Day in Lakeview Cottage near Pangong Lake and 2 days in Hotel Dragon in Leh Market. They arranged an Innova with a driver(Name: Jigmet) who was our travel guide throughout the journey. We never had to think about the places as all schedules were closely monitored on the daily basis. Mr Susanth from LehLadakh/Visit India also paid us a visit in the hotel at the beginning and end of the journey. In this 6 day trip, we covered many places like Hall of Fame, Spituk Monastery, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Zanskar confluence, Nubra valley-Sandunes, Diksit monastery, Pangong Lake, Rancho’s school, Hemis Monastery, Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery. I would like to thank all the units of the LehLadakh Journey and Travel Triangle to help us in customizing the trip and making it more memorable for us.

I would recommend everyone Travel triangle , but Happy Holidays A Unit Of Felix Feria Agent ( Sapna Agarwal) is very rude when interacting with you. Only till you pay your first installment she would be good but later she will not respond and she will not be polite as well. I had one issue with the one of the accommodation. In the voucher they gave me "Tamarind Resort" , so when i checked Tamarind resort in google images i get nice resort with swimming pool etc which was actually some other Resort which starts with The Tamarind Resort . I had two days booking there one on day one and one on the last day in my 6D 5N trip. So when I visited first day it was not resort but just a hotel with currently only 4 rooms in running and a BAR in the ground floor.I just requested the agent to change by booking to another hotel for the last day. But she was not responding properly and her behavior was rude. I would request Travel Triangle to look into issues like this.

    • Trip to Kashmir

Hi firstly the answer what most of the indians wants to know. Is Kashmir safe Answer- 100 times safer then Delhi...Every person is decent they respect women a lot..They don't hate India rather the politics has created a environment of corruption and severe unemployment...for eg a horse ride would charge you 2000but the guy with you(who would be with you will get only 200 RS a day rest all money would be taken by his Malik...even if you tip him in front of his Malik later he would snatch that money also... Not let's start the trip Day 1- we landed at airport at 12 in noon. Unfortunately that was a day of strike in Srinagar...Secondly our plan was to go to sonamarg the first day but that was not possible ......A small mistake by my travel consultant costed me one night t that beautiful place and have to stay at base station Kashmir. If you take a trip make first day Kashmir local site seeing...Nothing new you can get garden etc in Delhi also.....Target only hills from first day that's where the beauty lies.So we checked into the hotel milad regency.Excellent room very good staff.only problem was food was pathetic.Even on last day my cab driver said that he had never seen a hotel in Srinagar so lethargic that can't serve breakfast even at 9 am...lol...but they provided us with excellent rooms...cook just need a refresher course.....4/5 to Royal miladh...every one was good and have a smiling face.... Day 2 sonamarg- start of our trip...our can driver raja ji a very good person by nature and very entertaining took us to sonmarg...about 2 hours from srinagar...from there. You go for sightseeing ...the union can would charge you around 5500....I m a bad bargainer...The cab driver was even more good and took us to exotic locations with really adventurous roads....actually it's on way to kargil will take you to zero point where ladakh starts....again J.k police is damn corrupt and I saw them in necessary creating nuisance with driver...most likely for bribes. One returning we went to snow mountain did snow scooter 2500 for 2 and 1600 extra for self driving me and my wife drive it ...amazing experience....weather was beautiful....After sight seeing we returned back to our base station Kashmir(again slight negligence on part of our tour planner can't stay a night at sonamarg...but it's ok..I am not a messy person). Day 3 - We started early morning for pehegram....It's more beautiful then sonmarg.....we stayed for two nights at Eden resort...perfect is the only word I would say to describe the resort....period! At pehegram first day we took two ponies at 10500.5-6 hours adventurous ride on mountains...no roads nothing......it's some thing which only should be tried by adventurous people...finally after passing through a number ofvbeeautiful places we reach the valley called as mini Switzerland...again an awesome experience....bad thing is that I tipped the old pony man 500 RS which his Malik snatched...I rebuked him for that gave him extra 500 and gave old uncle 500 tip...at age of 55 he took us for 5-6 hour trip....uncle too told us that he is paid just 300-400 per day out of 10500 we gave...literally that's heart breaking. Evening stay at Eden is awesome...nothing to explain everything was up to the mark from food to waiter...a waiter was so good that when on second day I felt like sleeping and he don't saw me with my wife at buffet table he came to my room with 8 eggs.....vao such good peoples...Second day at pehelgam we took unionncar 1800 and went to alu betaab valley and amarnath staring point again beautiful scenes at various locations....The weather at amarnath starting point was rainy and we enjoyed it...... After that we headed back to Srinagar....Mughal garden etc.....fir tourists keep your stay at Srinagar minimum...it's nothing as compared to other places.....Basically as rest day as Srinagar was very hot that day I enjoyed wazawan.... While returning from pehegam at zabar shop we bought saffron shilajeet honey blackberry cranberry..To my utter surprise a villager sold me 2 kg of walnut giri in 1100 RS only.....we get it in 4000 RS in Delhi....we bought porchu at betaab valley and pashmina shawls from villagers at mini Switzerland...the level of bargain is that he was asking 750 per unit and at last he agreed at 4 units for 1000rs lol.....Let your wife bargain don't interfere...I was amazed to see that level of bargaining . Tour to gulmarg again awesome started at 9 reached at 11 took pony ..took gadola ride to the topmost mountain called phase 2.....enjoyed sledge...skieng and snow with rains .....14900 feet's high...our guide took 700 RS Sledge and skie was 4000 for 2. Gandola ride is fixed around 3800 for 2 till point 2...Most beautiful part of Srinagar as per me is gulmarg.again a part of mistake by my travel planner...no night stay at gulmarg(it should be there) rather we came down to Srinagar again. Please do take gulmarg night stay it's the most beautiful place.ponies took 2000 for 2...plus as my habit I tipped the pony boy with 200(depends on you).Every one was very good. Next morning we started for doodpathri....a less populated peaceful area.....again took ponies 2500 for 2 and the two gentle men took us for a 6-7 km sight seeing ...beautiful again....please tip them ...a cofee at Starbucks costs you 250....tipping those people with such good nature I feel banta hai Yar...... After doodh pathri we returned for shikara ride to our house boat....the shereon wangroo was very beautiful house boat....never expected that it would be so beautiful...old baba ki and cook uncle would serve you fresh meals and breakfast and honey moon cake..though not mandatory...I think you should tip them ...they are all so generous and polite.....The kasmir and population I met was totally different from what aaj Tak and all media channels shows....these people arrme 100 times more couteous then Delhi Gentry.......next day morning we did shikkara ride and jet skis tipped the old uncle who gave us a lots of blessing and clicked our pics...... Finally we left for airport ...Raja dropped us.... Overall a perfect trip fulll of enjoyment Keep at least 30 to 40 k extra for two person to enjoy each and every sight seeing...... In short very good peoples especially our driver and all hotel persons and shikara and house boat person and every one....The best kashmiri tea I got at phase 1 gandola ride station moon light restraunt....excellent kashmiri tea ..... Visit this place...it's really a paradise on Earth....I wasted a lots of money in Bali Thailand and all ....Real beauty was just 900 km away. From Delhi. P.s - keep Srinagar stay short. stay at every place sonamarg gulmarg pahalgam etc. Dr Rishu Saxena 7082276412 Every thing...I loved kashmiri people they are so good.
