The observatory was closed for renovation in the year 2002 and expansion of exhibit space was also done at that time so that it can help with Griffith Observatory shows. it was reopened for the public on 3rd November in the year 2006, the cost of renovation and expansion was a huge 93 million dent on the public bond issue with which most of the payments were made.

This is show that is live-narrated. It is animated and is studded with the rich history of human's observation of the sky from Ptolemy to the present day. A star projector called Zeiss Universarium Mark IX is used for the show.

Water is Life

It leads viewers on a great show that is all about the search for water—and possibly life—beyond Earth. This makes for a great experience for the kids as well as adults.

Light of the Valkyries

This show is all about the phenomenon and beauty of the northern lights. Explore the source of the northern lights i.e the sun and enjoy a cosmic light show set to one of the most iconic pieces of music of all time, Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries."
