Best Time To Visit Sydney

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

The best time to visit Sydney is spring and autumn from September to November and March to May respectively when the temperature ranges from 16°C to 20°C and 15°C to 25°C respectively.

The weather is quite pleasant and excellent for outdoor activities and sightseeing purposes during this time.

Sydney sees the highest number of tourists from December to February which constitutes the summer season in Sydney. It is also the most expensive season to travel to Sydney as it is the peak season and also because of the Christmas and New Year festivities.

There is no defined rainy season in Sydney. However, the months from April to June are considered to receive more rainfall as compared to other months in the year. September and October receive no rainfall, so these are considered the driest months in Sydney.

Let’s have a look at the below month-wise segregation to decide the best time to visit Sydney.

March-May (15°C-25°C):

The period of March to May enjoys a shortfall or autumn as the temperature in Sydney is mild and pleasant for traveling. Moreover, the place gets less occupied and prices a little less spiking. One can beat the slight chill in the wind with a light shrug or jacket.

It is a good time to stroll around the harbor and enjoy ferry rides.

June - August (8°C-19°C):

From June to August, there is winter in Sydney. However, the cold is not much, especially for people -who are traveling from Europe or America. And since this is the offseason in Sydney, you can enjoy really low prices at both flight tickets and hotel rents.

Get an opportunity to attend the Sydney Opera Show, Sydney Winter Festival and do a lot of exciting things to add enticing memories to your life.

September - November (16°C-20°C):

September to November is the best month to visit Sydney while enjoying outdoor activities like cycling and bushwalking. During this time, there is spring in the country, which means Sydney will have clear skies and crisp weather. The heat starts to crawl into the air, but it is still a little time to go before the summer months.

December - February (22°C-27°C):

Weather in Sydney during the month of December is the hottest, which might seem uncanny to those coming from the northern hemisphere. This is the peak season for visiting Sydney, thus, hotel stays are quite packed and the beaches are crowded.

If you are going for water activities, this is just the perfect time. Otherwise, if you are looking for peaceful traveling, maybe you should wait till spring.

Summer Season in Sydney

Sydney experiences a subtropical climate; hence does not show an extreme change of seasons. Summers here are warm and humid and perfect for beachfront activities. The waves are bigger and ideal for surfing, and the waters are more transparent to enjoy snorkelling or diving.

Monsoons in Australia are not very prominent. Sydney gets scattered rainfall throughout the first half of the year. The wettest months are January, February, March, April and June. November gets some occasional rainfall as well.

Winter Season in Sydney

Sydney experiences mildly cold winters. There is a chill in the air and swimming is not preferred by most because of the cold. But other activities like local sightseeing, shopping, dining and wining – all can be done perfectly.

Lavanya's 10 days trip to Sydney

Our two week Australia trip planned n executed by Fly Goldfinch Kruti n team. Overall it is very good. All the arrangements were excellent and perfectly organaised. Cost is competitive compared to other travel agents. Response was quick. For the cab bookings even during odd India timings Gautham did it perfectly . Ultimately they were available 24/7 to answer the queries n did the needful. All the hotels booked were in main area close to restaurants, shopping centre and transport facilities. The hotels were too good. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Highly recommended.

5 star We recently returned from an incredible trip to Australia, all thanks to the amazing team at Wanderbird Holidays! From start to finish, the planning was seamless, with every detail thoughtfully handled by Raunak and the team. We enjoyed every moment, and it was so reassuring to have their consistent support and guidance along the way. The personalised recommendations for each city by Raunak, on top of the customised itinerary made by Meenakshi, made our experience even more amazing, and knowing they were just a call away during our travels gave us complete peace of mind. This was hands-down one of our best-planned vacations, and we can’t wait to book more adventures with Wanderbird Holidays. We’ve already recommended them to our family, and we’re confident they’ll love the experience just as much as we did!
