Shopping in Sydney

The Glebe Market is well known for its quirky homewares and artwork sales. Queen Victoria Building, Strand Arcade and Paddy’s Market are more for the vintage-style lovers. Finally, the most exciting of the lot is the Friday Food Fair and the following Weekend Market at the Rocks. You will find a variety of commodities like clothes, jewellery, accessories, art, paintings, electronics, handmade things, photographs, ceramics and many others at these markets. There are also quite a few malls to do retail shopping from on your Sydney travel.

Adventure activities in Sydney

There are some unusual adventure activities to do in Sydney, Australia. Those who are interested in watersports like snorkelling and scuba diving can have the time of their life at many beaches like Bondi, Manly and Balmoral. Among more exciting things, there is cliff diving from the Gap at the Blue Mountains, Bungee Jumping and Bridge Climbing at Sydney Harbour Bridge, and so on.

1. Sydney Opera House

The Opera House is one of the sights that everyone can relate to Australia, even if they do not visit Sydney. It is a multi-venue performing arts centre in Sydney, with five different spaces for dance, songs, concerts, opera and theatre. One can experience the area best by taking a guided tour.

2. Sydney Harbour Bridge

Affectionately called 'coat hanger' due to its shape, the Sydney Harbour Bridge takes most people by surprise, as it is deceptively large. One can experience exploring it best by taking a walk along its length by climbing up the stairs to the footpath on the Eastern Side. The Western Side has a bike path for those wanting to choose a different method.

3. Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach is significant for being the closest beach to the ocean from the city of Sydney. The waves are good for people who want to experience a rough swimming experience in warmish water temperature. The beach is also the perfect place to learn surfing and also practice, with two sandbars on either side.

4. Darling Harbour

With the bars and the restaurants in Cockle Bay, King Street Wharf, and Barangaroo South, and the Pyrmont of the Western side with casinos and motorways, there is something special about the harbour which makes everyone feels like they belong there.

5. The Rocks

The Rocks are one of the more historic sites of Sydney, with lanes hidden in the shadows of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This area is rife with tourists due to the nearness and views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and there are old pubs, restaurants and the famous weekend market here.

To best thing about Sydney is its brilliant public transport that makes local tours so easy. From Sydney airport, it takes no time to get to the centre of the town.

Once you reach Sydney, there are multiple routes to reach other cities and towns. The Pacific Highway along the west coast of Australia connects Sydney with Brisbane and other places on the route. However, most major cities in Australia, like Adelaide, Melbourne or Darwin are located far away from each other – at least a drive of 10 hours away. Thus, flights are always the better option to travel, even within the country. In the city of Sydney, there are public buses and cabs to take you to different sightseeing locations.
