How to Reach Siem Reap from Mumbai: Flights, Routes and Visa (2026)
| By Air | By Road | By Train | By Sea | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai to Siem Reap | 7.25 hours | 103.0 hours | - | - |
There is no nonstop flight from Mumbai to Siem Reap. You cover 3,402 km with one stop, and Bangkok is the busiest connection, with Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways getting you there in about 7 hours 15 minutes at best. The all-India option is IndiGo, flying Mumbai to Kolkata and then on its overnight nonstop from Kolkata to Siem Reap three nights a week. It was also the cheapest fare we found on 2 November 2026. Most itineraries take 8 to 12 hours. Every flight now lands at the new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI), about 50 km from town, and Indian passport holders need a US$30 visa.
Mumbai is one of the biggest Indian metropolises and well connected with the rest of the world, but not yet with Cambodia. Flights from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to Siem Reap all stop somewhere, so the real decision is which city you change planes in. This page compares the six hubs with times and rupee fares, then covers the ride from the airport into town, the visa and arrival card, and the Phnom Penh alternative. If you would rather not stitch flights together yourself, our Cambodia tour packages from Mumbai can include the flights and the airport pickup.

Is there a direct flight from Mumbai to Siem Reap?
No, not as of November 2026. There are no non-stop flights available between Mumbai and Siem Reap, and there is no direct connectivity by railways or roadways either.
The only nonstop between India and Siem Reap is IndiGo's Kolkata flight, 6E 1655. It launched on 13 November 2025, was paused from 3 July to 30 September 2026, and restarted on 1 October 2026 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. IndiGo sells it with a connection from Mumbai, which makes it the closest thing to a direct flight that a Mumbai traveller can book today.
Two warnings about what you may read elsewhere. Some flight sites still show Siem Reap as "REP" and hint at nonstop options. REP closed to commercial traffic on 16 October 2023, and every flight now uses SAI, about 50 km east of town rather than the old airport's 7 km. Older guides also suggest flying to Bangkok and continuing by road. The Thailand-Cambodia land border at Poipet has been closed since mid-2025, so that plan no longer works. Take the one-hour flight from Bangkok instead.
Mumbai to Siem Reap flights: the best 1-stop routes
Six one-stop or two-stop routings work from Mumbai. Bangkok wins on frequency and speed, Kolkata on price and simplicity, and Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi if you are adding Vietnam to the trip.
| Route (BOM, hub, SAI) | Airlines | Days | Typical total time | Fare (economy) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | Thai Airways on one ticket (BOM departures around 23:20 to 23:35), or Bangkok Airways for the final hop (about 1 hr 10 min to SAI) | Daily | 7 hr 15 min to 10 hr | From about Rs 56,000 return on THAI (Google Flights, early Nov) | Fastest, most departures |
| Via Kolkata (CCU), all IndiGo | IndiGo BOM to CCU (about 2 hr 45 min), then 6E 1655 nonstop | Leave BOM Wed, Fri, Sun evening; CCU departs Mon, Thu, Sat 03:35 | About 8 to 12 hr incl. the CCU wait | Often the cheapest, from about Rs 17,000 one way | No foreign transit, one airline, rupee fares |
| Via Singapore (SIN) | Singapore Airlines both legs | Daily | About 8 hr 50 min to 10 hr | From about Rs 38,500 (singaporeair.com) | Full-service comfort, Changi layover |
| Via Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) | Vietnam Airlines BOM to SGN nonstop (overnight, about 23:10 to 06:00), then Vietnam Airlines to SAI | 3 a week (Rome2Rio shows Mon, Wed, Fri) | About 9 hr 10 min | Varies; good value in sales | Vietnam and Cambodia combo trips |
| Via Hanoi (HAN) | IndiGo BOM to HAN nonstop (04:15 to 10:00, daily since 25 October 2026) or VietJet, then a separate flight to SAI | IndiGo and VietJet most days | 10 to 14 hr | Varies; book the legs separately | Starting a trip in north Vietnam |
| Via Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK) or Kuala Lumpur (KUL) | Thai AirAsia or AirAsia, usually on separate tickets | Most days | 10 to 14 hr | Can be the lowest in sales | Budget, flexible dates |
Fares are from Google Flights, Skyscanner and singaporeair.com on 2 November 2026 and change daily. Some are one way and some return, as marked, so compare like with like. Times include the connection. Rome2Rio counts about 41 one-stop flights a week from Mumbai to Siem Reap, averaging 8 hours 1 minute.
Which airline has the most flights? Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways, both connecting through Bangkok every day. Singapore Airlines adds a daily link through Changi. The Hong Kong connections some older pages list are not sold as practical routings today.
The all-IndiGo route via Kolkata, step by step
This route stays in India until the final leg. You pay in rupees on one airline, clear Indian emigration in Kolkata, and never set foot in a foreign transit airport.
1. Search goindigo.in for Mumbai to Siem Reap as one booking. The site builds the connection through Kolkata, so your bag is checked through to SAI.
2. Pick an evening Mumbai departure on a Wednesday, Friday or Sunday. The 1,665 km hop to Kolkata takes about 2 hours 45 minutes.
3. In Kolkata, move from the domestic side to international departures, where you clear Indian emigration and security. Allow at least 3 hours between flights.
4. Board 6E 1655 at 03:35. The 1,959 km flight takes about 3 hours.
5. Land at SAI at 08:00 local time with your e-visa and e-Arrival QR code ready.
6. Take a taxi into town (the first airport shuttle leaves at 9:30 am) and check in early, or rest and head to Angkor in the afternoon.
The catch is the hour. You spend most of the night in Kolkata airport and on the plane, so keep the first day in Siem Reap slow.
Mumbai to Siem Reap distance, flight time and time difference
The fastest Mumbai to Siem Reap trip takes about 7 hours 15 minutes with a tight Bangkok connection. Most bookable itineraries take 8 to 12 hours.
| Measure | Figure |
|---|---|
| Straight-line distance BOM to SAI | 3,402 km (2,114 miles) |
| Via Bangkok | 3,031 km to Bangkok, then 377 km to Siem Reap |
| Via Kolkata | 1,665 km to Kolkata, then 1,959 km to Siem Reap |
| Via Ho Chi Minh City | 3,737 km to Ho Chi Minh City, then 391 km to Siem Reap |
| Time in the air (Bangkok route) | About 4 hr, plus about 1 hr 10 min |
| Fastest total with a connection | About 7 hr 15 min to 7 hr 55 min |
| Average of all 1-stop flights | About 8 hr |
| Door to door, city to hotel | About 11 to 13 hr |
| Time difference | Siem Reap is 1 hr 30 min ahead of India (UTC+7) |
Distances were calculated by our desk from airport coordinates. The 3,365 km figure on older pages, this one included until now, measures to the closed REP airport.
Set your watch forward 90 minutes when you land. The late-night THAI departures from Mumbai reach Bangkok around dawn and Siem Reap by late morning.
Mumbai to Siem Reap flight fares and the cheapest time to fly
Budget Rs 35,000 to Rs 56,000 per person for an economy return. On 2 November 2026 the cheapest one-way fare was IndiGo through Kolkata at about Rs 17,000 (Skyscanner). Singapore Airlines started at Rs 38,514, and THAI's Bangkok connection at Rs 56,039 return.
Skyscanner's data shows November as the cheapest month to fly this route. Prices climb from mid-December to early January, when Cambodia's dry, cool peak meets Indian school holidays and Christmas, and Diwali weeks are expensive too. May to September is the wet season. Fares soften, the temples turn green and quiet, and most of the rain falls in short afternoon bursts.
Book 6 to 10 weeks ahead for peak dates. Price the IndiGo Kolkata option first, then check whether THAI or Singapore Airlines is close enough to justify the faster connection and the meals. For month-by-month weather, see the best time to visit Siem Reap.
Connecting without stress: baggage, layovers and transit
Book the whole trip on one ticket if you can. On a single booking your bag is checked through to Siem Reap and the airline rebooks you if the first flight runs late. THAI, Singapore Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and IndiGo all sell Mumbai to Siem Reap as one ticket.
Separate low-cost tickets save money but move the risk to you. If you land at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and fly on from Don Mueang, you collect your bag, pass Thai immigration and cross the city, so allow at least 4 hours. Entering Thailand needs the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card, filed online within 3 days before you land, on top of Thailand's entry rules for Indian passports. A self-transfer in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City needs a Vietnamese e-visa before you fly.
On a one-way ticket, airlines may ask at the Mumbai check-in counter for proof of onward travel out of Cambodia. Keep your return booking on your phone.
A long layover can work in your favour. A night in Bangkok or a day in Singapore breaks the trip well for families and older travellers.
Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) to town
SAI opened in October 2023 about 50 km east of Siem Reap town, so the ride in takes about an hour on the expressway. From the arrivals hall you can take the shuttle bus, book a taxi, arrange a tuk-tuk or use a hotel pickup.
| Option | Time | Cost (approx.) | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport shuttle bus | About 1 hr | US$8 (about Rs 760) | Fixed fare; first bus 9:30 am, last 10 pm; ends at the Airport Bus station on 7 Makara Road, opposite ACE School, with free drop-off to hotels within 2 km |
| Airport taxi | About 1 hr | US$35 (about Rs 3,325) | Fixed price at the counter; fits 3 to 4 people |
| Minivan | About 1 hr | US$40 (about Rs 3,800) | For families or groups with luggage |
| Tuk-tuk (pre-booked) | About 1 hr 30 min to 2 hr | About US$15 to 25 | Tuk-tuks are not allowed on the airport expressway and generally cannot pick up at the terminal kerb, so agree where the driver will meet you; hot and dusty on the older road |
| Hotel or package pickup | About 1 hr | Often included | Standard in most Cambodia packages from Mumbai |
A taxi from the airport is still the safest option after a night flight. Carry small US dollar notes. Dollars are accepted everywhere alongside the Cambodian riel.
Cambodia visa and e-Arrival card for Indians
Indian passport holders need a visa for Cambodia. Two documents and one form get you through SAI quickly.
• Visa. The tourist e-visa costs US$30 (about Rs 2,850) for 30 days, single entry, at evisa.gov.kh. Apply at least 3 working days ahead. A visa on arrival is also issued at SAI for US$30 in cash; bring clean, untorn notes.
• Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) card. Free, at arrival.gov.kh or in the CeA app, filled in within 7 days before you land. It replaces the paper arrival, health and customs forms and is required for every air arrival.
• Passport. At least 6 months' validity on arrival and a blank page.
For the wider picture, including Phnom Penh flights and the country-level distance, see how to reach Cambodia from Mumbai.
Alternative: fly Mumbai to Phnom Penh, then Siem Reap
Flying into Phnom Penh's new Techo International Airport (KTI) is sometimes cheaper. On 2 November 2026 Skyscanner India's Cambodia route page listed lead fares of Rs 27,378 to Phnom Penh and Rs 34,681 to Siem Reap, so price both airports for your own dates. From Phnom Penh, Siem Reap is a 5 to 6 hour bus ride (about US$15 to 19) or a flight of about 50 minutes.
It only pays off if you are visiting both cities. For an Angkor-focused trip of 4 to 5 days, fly straight into SAI and keep the saving in hours, not rupees.
Mumbai to Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat is about 7 km north of Siem Reap town and roughly an hour from SAI. Most travellers check in, sleep off the flight, and catch sunrise at Angkor Wat the next morning.
You need an Angkor Pass. It costs US$37 for 1 day, US$62 for 3 days (used within 7 days) and US$72 for 7 days (used within 30 days). Angkor Wat opens at 5 am for sunrise and closes at 5:30 pm. Ticket details are on our Angkor Wat guide, and the other temples worth your time are in Siem Reap places to visit.
Tips for Mumbai and Pune travellers
• International flights to Southeast Asia leave from Terminal 2 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Arrive 3 hours before departure, and more on a Friday night. The IndiGo Kolkata routing is different, because its first leg is a domestic flight. IndiGo runs some Mumbai domestic flights from Terminal 1, and some from Navi Mumbai, so read the airport and terminal on your boarding pass.
• Navi Mumbai airport (NMI) has flown international routes since July 2026, but only to the Gulf. No international flight from NMI connects to Siem Reap yet.
• Pune travellers have routings through Bangkok and Kolkata too, but Mumbai T2, 3 to 4 hours by road, offers far more departure times.
• Carry about US$100 in small notes for the visa, shuttle and first meals. ATMs at SAI and in town dispense dollars.
• Keep your e-visa approval and CeA QR code on your phone and on paper.
• Adding Vietnam? Fly into Siem Reap and out of Ho Chi Minh City, or the reverse. Our Cambodia Vietnam tour from Mumbai builds that loop.
• A package with flights from Mumbai removes the connection risk and includes the airport transfer. Compare Cambodia tour packages from Mumbai, or the 3-night Angkor Wat Cambodia package.
How we checked this page
Distances were calculated by our desk from airport coordinates on 2 November 2026. Schedules were checked against IndiGo's route announcement and baggage-transfer rules, Singapore Airlines' Mumbai to Siem Reap route page, Rome2Rio and FlightRadar24, and fares against Google Flights, Skyscanner and singaporeair.com on 2 November 2026. Visa fees follow the Royal Government of Cambodia's e-visa change of 1 January 2025, and Angkor Pass prices come from Angkor Enterprise's ticket page.
Plan your Siem Reap trip from Mumbai
Mumbai to Siem Reap takes one stop and most of a day. The right hub depends on what you want most: speed and frequency through Bangkok, the lowest rupee fare and no foreign transit through Kolkata, or a Vietnam add-on through Ho Chi Minh City. If you would rather have the flights, visa paperwork and airport pickup handled together, see our Cambodia tour packages from Mumbai.

Siem Reap Travel FAQs
Is there a direct flight from Mumbai to Siem Reap?
No. No airline flies Mumbai to Siem Reap nonstop, and every itinerary has at least one stop, most often in Bangkok. The only nonstop from India is IndiGo's Kolkata to Siem Reap flight, 6E 1655, which runs on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and connects with IndiGo flights from Mumbai. There is no road or rail option either, since the Thailand-Cambodia land border has been closed since mid-2025.
Which airlines operate flights from Mumbai to Siem Reap?
You combine two flights. Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways connect through Bangkok, Singapore Airlines through Singapore, and Vietnam Airlines through Ho Chi Minh City. IndiGo is the only Indian airline, via Kolkata. Low-cost options on Thai AirAsia, AirAsia and VietJet work on separate tickets through Don Mueang, Kuala Lumpur or Hanoi. "Singapore Airways" and Hong Kong routings listed on older pages are errors.
How many flights run from Mumbai to Siem Reap every day?
About six a day, or roughly 41 one-stop connections a week according to Rome2Rio. The daily backbone is Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways through Bangkok, plus Singapore Airlines through Changi. IndiGo's Kolkata routing adds three a week and Vietnam Airlines' Ho Chi Minh City routing another three. Claims of "40 flights daily" confuse a weekly count with a daily one.
How long is the flight from Mumbai to Siem Reap?
About 7 hours 15 minutes to 8 hours on the fastest Bangkok connections, and 8 to 12 hours on most itineraries. Time in the air alone is about 5 hours 10 minutes through Bangkok. The IndiGo route through Kolkata takes 8 to 12 hours because of the night wait. Siem Reap is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India, so arrival times on your ticket are local time.
What is the distance from Mumbai to Siem Reap?
The straight-line distance from Mumbai airport (BOM) to Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) is 3,402 km, or 2,114 miles. Flying through Bangkok adds almost nothing: 3,031 km to Bangkok and 377 km on to Siem Reap. Through Kolkata the flown distance is about 3,624 km. The 3,365 km figure found on older pages is measured to the REP airport, which closed in 2023.
What is the cheapest way and month to fly from Mumbai to Siem Reap?
IndiGo through Kolkata is usually the cheapest, from about Rs 17,000 one way on 2 November 2026. Low-cost connections through Don Mueang or Kuala Lumpur can undercut it in sales. November is the cheapest month on Skyscanner's data, and May to September fares are also low. Mid-December to early January and Diwali are the most expensive, so book 6 to 10 weeks ahead for those dates.
Can I fly from Mumbai to Siem Reap via Kolkata on IndiGo?
Yes. Book Mumbai to Siem Reap as one IndiGo trip, leaving Mumbai on a Wednesday, Friday or Sunday evening, and the site connects you in Kolkata onto 6E 1655. It leaves at 03:35 and lands at SAI at 08:00 local time. Your bag is checked through, you pay in rupees, and you clear Indian emigration in Kolkata. The route restarted on 1 October 2026 after a summer pause.
Which airports do I fly from in Mumbai and land at in Siem Reap?
You leave from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM). Thai, Singapore Airlines and Vietnam Airlines flights use Terminal 2. On the IndiGo route through Kolkata, the first leg is domestic and can leave from Terminal 1 or Navi Mumbai, so check your boarding pass. Navi Mumbai has no Southeast Asia flights yet. You land at Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI), about 50 km east of town. The old Siem Reap International Airport (REP), 7 km from town, closed to commercial flights on 16 October 2023, so ignore any booking that still shows REP.
Do Indians need a visa for Cambodia?
Yes. Indian passport holders can get a US$30 tourist e-visa at evisa.gov.kh, valid for 30 days, or a visa on arrival at Siem Reap airport for the same US$30 in cash. You also need to fill in the free Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) card online within 7 days before landing. Your passport must have at least 6 months' validity and a blank page.
How do I get from Siem Reap airport to the city and Angkor Wat?
The airport shuttle bus costs US$8 and takes about an hour to town, with the first bus at 9:30 am and the last at 10 pm. An airport taxi costs about US$35 and is the safest choice after a night flight. Most hotels and packages include a pickup. Angkor Wat is 7 km beyond town, so most visitors check in first and go the next morning with an Angkor Pass (US$37 for one day).
