About Mughal Gardens In New Delhi

Mughal Garden exemplifies the love of Mughals for landscaped garden and fad for magnificent architecture. The Mughal legacy left Delhi with verdant gardens and parks that enhance the aesthetic sense even to the present times. Sprawling over a large arena of 15 acres, the Mughal Garden New Delhi was extensively inspired by the gardens at Jammu and Kashmir and the Taj Mahal in Agra. Sir Edward Lutyens, the master architecture behind the Rashtrapati Bhawan, also designed the Garden in order to bring together the intersecting elements of Mughal-style and English architectural and horticultural traditions.

History of Mughal Garden In New Delhi

Mughal Gardens was one of the favorite types of garden for the founder of the Mughal empire, Babur. It was earlier known as charbagh. During the rule of Mughals, bageecha or baug was the term used for gardens. According to Babur it was one of a kind. As India did not have the rapid flowing streams that was required for the Central Asian charbagh, this was a venture to do so. The Aram Bagh of Agra is supposed to be the first charbagh in South Asia. Detailed textual analyses of the Mughal gardens are also found in the memoirs and biographies of Babur, Humayun and Akbar.

Located in the premises of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mughal Garden boasts extravagant foliage, fountains, climbing roses, symmetrical lawns and wandering peacocks. It is said that Louis Mountbatten, last British viceroy of India, employed 418 gardeners for the Mughal Garden in India. The beauty is such that you just cannot miss out taking a tour of the palace-garden. Sadly, the royal tourist attraction does not remain open for visitors all throughout the year. It remains open for a month that is during Feb-March. And if you are in town during this month, do visit the spectacular Mughal Garden! Also, the famous Udyanotsav offers you to gawk at the 159 varieties of rose, more than 100 types of bougainvillaea and hundreds of several other flora.

Structure of Mughal Garden In New Delhi

Derived exclusively from the idea behind the medieval Islamic garden, the Mughal Gardens in Delhi have been constructed with inspiration from the Mughals’ Turkish-Mongolian ancestry.

It is often described as “a hortus conclusus, walled off and protected from the outside world”. The rigid and formal design, and pleasing inner space are the special features of the Garden. There is a pool in the garden that reflects the beauties of sky and garden. There are several trees that produce shade and fruits. Birds flock here during evening when the weather is pleasant. The The Garden features distinct Turkish-Mongolian elements of the Mughal times.

Facts of Mughal Garden In New Delhi

The Mughal Gardens are located just behind the Rashtrapati Bhavan. It constitutes both Mughal and English landscaping styles.

Six lotus shaped fountains are situated at the crossing of the two channels in Mughal Garden. The fountains rise to a height of 12 feet while producing murmuring sounds.

More than 250 gorgeous varieties of roses are found in the garden. Therefore, it is one of the best Rose Gardens in the world. It also has the rare green rose.

During the evening, one can spot peacocks moving leisurely around the premises of the gardens.

There are around 15 evergreen fragrant shrubs and creepers which are planted along the terrace walls and look fresher than ever during every visit.

I recently had the pleasure of traveling through the Golden Triangle of India, thanks to the exceptional service provided by Travel Triangle and Aapka TripWala. From start to finish, they ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience with their impeccable planning and friendly service. The journey to
ok me through the vibrant and historical cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, each offering its own unique charm and historical significance. In Delhi, I marveled at the blend of ancient monuments like the Qutub Minar, Red Fort and modern life bustling through the city. Agra stole my heart with the ethereal beauty of the Taj Mahal. Jaipur, the Pink City, captivated me with its majestic Amber Fort and the vibrant Hawa Mahal. The hospitality and rich cultural heritage in each city made this trip unforgettable. The Golden Triangle tour, perfectly curated by Travel Triangle and Aapka Trip Wala, is a must for anyone seeking to experience the essence of India's diverse and vibrant culture in a short span of time. I highly recommend their services for a memorable and hassle-free travel experience. There are countless highlights from my trip, but two experiences stand out in particular: 1. The ethereal beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra: Witnessing this iconic symbol of love and devotion up close was truly awe-inspiring. Its stunning white marble façade, intricate carvings, and serene gardens create an atmosphere of timeless elegance that left a lasting impression on me. 2. The vibrant cultural experience at Chowki Dhani resort in Jaipur: This resort perfectly encapsulates the elegance and royalty of the Pink City. From the traditional Rajasthani architecture to the authentic folk performances and delectable cuisine, every moment at Chowki Dhani was a celebration of Jaipur’s rich heritage and regal charm.

Prosenjit's 5 days trip to Delhi

The Hotel (Sita International) which was booked for us in Delhi was not at all Good., simply pathetic. So, it's strictly recommended not to visit or book any room at Sita International in New Delhi (Near to New Delhi Railway Station). The hotel was booked by the travel agency & the name of the Hotel
is Sita International. But there is no sign of international standards & quality of that Hotel. They're using that "International" tag only for business that's it. The "deluxe room" they provided to us (Me, my wife & my 5-year-old son) is a remarkably simple ordinary one- or two-star category hotel room. The blanket they provided to us was torn. For reference please I've attached pictures of that blanket. The button under the shower in the bathroom was broken. Now after sharing all the information in reception, the hotel people behaved very casually & asked me to adjust. I informed my travel agent (Back to Holiday) regarding the issue, and my travel agent confirmed that in the evening they'll change my room but after returning from sightseeing the hotel said, "Room change is not possible because all rooms are booked". So, this is the situation I faced during my travel on the very first day (14.10.24). And in the morning The Hotel owner talked with me on the phone & told me that I made a quite simple issue into a big issue. So after paying advance to the travel agency, I faced this kind of situation. Last but not least, in the morning I found RAT in that room. And they're called it's an International Hotel. So strictly & Strictly recommended before booking anything think twice. Yes, after that remaining two Hotels are good (Gurukripa @ Mathura and Royal View @ Jaipur) & as per the standard, especially the last one (Royal View at Jaipur- 3-star category Hotel) .... Now regarding Cab. The Cab driver has a huge setting with all the guides in each & everywhere (Agra, Mathura, Jaipur) .... Directly & indirectly, he forced us to hire a guide so that he could earn a commission. And you'll not deny it because, in the middle of the tour, it's very risky & not at all safe. The driver has a very good local connection & I was traveling with my wife & my 5-year-old son. If I refused to hire a guide, he could have done anything locally because of his local connection & we're very new in that area. When at Jaipur we told that driver we don't require any guide he told me during travel maybe we'll face problems. Now in that situation what do you do? So as per his recommendation, we're forced to hire a guide as per the driver's choice, and we paid him Rs. 800 as decided by the driver (The normal government guide charge is Rs. 400).... So, if you'll travel along with your family (Like wife & son) you've got to accept all the terms & conditions of the driver because he has a strong local connection & you don't have that connection. Not only that, the driver will take you to some local shops where he has a good connection & if you buy something from that shop the driver will get a commission. Even on this trip, our driver took some local shops in Agra where he has a commission-based connection. Otherwise, he was not interested in taking you to some local shops where he'd not get any commission.

**Trip Review: A Wonderful Delhi Experience Arranged by Our Travel Agent** My recent trip to Delhi, arranged by a travel agent, was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, every detail was meticulously planned, making the trip smooth and enjoyable. The itiner
ary was well-organized, covering both the iconic landmarks and hidden gems of Delhi. Our visit started with the stunning Red Fort, where the grandeur of Mughal architecture left us in awe. This was followed by a trip to Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques, offering a breathtaking view of Old Delhi. We also visited India Gate, a significant war memorial, and Rashtrapati Bhavan, giving us a glimpse of Delhi's colonial heritage. Our agent, Nidhi Chaudhary was knowledgeable and friendly, explaining of each site. The accommodations chosen for us were top-notch. We stayed at a centrally located hotel, which was clean, comfortable, and provided excellent service. Our agent also made sure that we had safe and reliable Special thanks to Nidhi Chaudhary @ back2holidays who has exceptional support and arranged all trip. Great Work Nidhi ..
