Upendran's 8 days trip to Vietnam

Our vacation to Cambodia and Vietnam in March 2024 was both informative and enjoyable. Our chosen travel operator, Bamboo Hat Tours coordinated our trip well, with our airport pickups and van tours being punctual and with very friendly drivers and guides. Right up to the last day Sophie from Bamboo Hat was in touch on a daily basis, sending messages and reminders which made it very easy to adhere to the schedule. While the hotels were well located in city centres, vegetarian options in food need to be made more easily available, and more awareness needs to be created among kitchen staff . On one occasion we found fish sauce had been used to season vegetarian fried noodles, and prawn crackers were presented as vegetarian crackers. The hotel room in Hanoi (HM Boutique Hotel) was rather cramped while the rooms in Rose Garden hotel at Hoi An and Cap Town Hotel in Ho Chi Minh were very good and the staff extremely obliging. While the rooms at Siem Reap were good, the staff were neither very friendly nor obliging enough to give us an early check in. Angkor Holiday hotel is very obviously catering to group tours, so when you plan for smaller groups, please offer better hotels with better service, even if the cost is slightly higher. We found very limited vegetarian restaurants around this hotel. While the Le Journey cruise crew went out of their way to be hospitable, we would have preferred to have taken a slightly more upmarket cruise, as the boat was obviously old and needs renovation. Please give us more options in cruises as well when putting together a package. Having said this, I must say that the travel hosts everywhere were extremely courteous and hospitable, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Exemplary hospitality and courtesy everywhere we went. Hanoi’s water puppet show and a walk around the French quarter in the old town were very enjoyable. You need to spend at least three days in each city to experience it fully. Hoi An was amazing, with its riverside experiences, the shopping and the lanterns everywhere

1 Flights: Flight booking was OK. Inclusive of Meal flights, option of customer for veg or non-veg to be verified and customer advised. 2 Stay: 3 places of stay at Hanoi/HochiMinh city/Siem Reap was good. 3 Pick up for tours and flights on arrival as well for Departure - Coordinators at places of tours should keep the traveller informed of next day morning pick up details for flights previous day. Tour vans for all tours in Hanoi/HochiMinh/SiemReap picked up without any trouble. 4 Vietnam picking up from/to airports was made as if secrecy has to be maintained with persons picking up not showing their Identity, which is not correct. Are we being kidnapped for secrecy to be maintined. Cambodian coordinator was far better in this aspect. 5 Siem Reap shuttle at cambodia tours were well prepared for their job as well as did not face much problem in the tours of vietnam. 6 VISA: Total mess in the case of Vietnam. Higher level Trip Pro people as well as HTT have taken this aspect very casually, putting the customer to lot of mental agony and frustration. In spite of no.6 above, I sincerely thank Ms.Tanya Malhotra for her sincere effort to help me at every stage for the tour to be completed without hitch in Vietnam and Cambodia. Finally, HTT cannot be a spectator once when the trip organiser is identified and fix dates for activities of getting visa and other matters to be organised before starting of the trip. Overall a very great experience on the trip. While there were communication issues with the agent which may have impacted some of the choices we made for the trip, the support given during the trip was very good. They were able to manage or compensate when things did not go according to plan or expectations and this was without any ask from our side !! Vietnam and Cambodia has a lot of interesting places to see and i think we made the right choice in going with TT Visiting the temples in Siem Reap. Angkor wat and others. The guide was very patient in explaining the history and culture behind them.

Everything from booking to payment was good. The quote was a bit higher. The Hotel stay was good..could have been better. Golden Lake Hotel concierge staff was bad, uncooperative. I missed Vegetarian food even when I had opted for that. I missed dinner almost everyday & I had on many occasions slept hungry and not having food at all. As there were no vegetarisn food I survived mainly on fruits, bread, jam & fruit juice only. Car and pick up & drop were very good. La Casta Cruise was horrible. And most horrible was the person taking care on Cruise..His name was "Lucky".. What an idiot person he was ..Horrible..He made whole trip so painful..He was nasty, and bad behavior . He should immediately be thrown out from Cruise.. He was uncooperative, harassing and a Liar. My special thanks to Mr Steve Tran in Vietnam and my guide in Siem Reap Mr Danith., who made my trip worth remembering. Thanks to these two persons. Very nice places. Very good people in both countries. Loved them so much.

Namratha's 4 days trip to Cambodia

Recently I travelled to Cambodia with my family of 4. The overall experience was excellent. The booking agent (Rossie) was Asia Authentic Travel (AAT) placed in Vietnam. However the billing and financials were handled by TravelTriangle (seems like coordinated from India). This is just information for other travellers and did not impact any of the booking or travel agenda. This is just for information. Pre-trip booking: The coordination and response was excellent by AAT. They provided quick response to selection of hotels, planning of the trip., arranging for vegetarian food (all of us are vegetarians). The agent clearly communicated with us on WhatsApp and was extremely responsive, even when it was late night in Vietnam. Thank you Rossie. Payment: It appears that we had to pay the amount in two installments. There were initial challenges. Somehow, payment using a foreign credit card has a few challenges. However, somehow coordinating with AAT (Vietnam) and Travel Triangle it was sorted out. One word of caution, the number of emails that I receive about payment in spite of making arrangement seems quite annoying and I had to verify to ignore these emails. This is especially critical as I don't want to miss a payment and the trip to be cancelled. Secondly, we are all American Citizens, however, it was asking from Indian Pan card to make payment. This did not make sense as foreigners does not know anything about this. However, this was sorted out as well. These are minor and did not impact the trip. Arrival and Trip: The experience was excellent. The driver was on time at the airport. The Vietnam based agent repeatedly checked and confirmed flight arrival time and ensured that the driver was there on time and confirmed on the day of arrival. The tour guide was excellent, patient and very accommodating. Due to last minute closures of some attractions, we had to change the schedule a bit and the agent was very willing to accommodate minor changes. Hotel (Tara Angkor Hotels, Siem Reap) The hotel was good from a cleanliness. Staff were very polite and helpful. The only challenge was internet speed. This was very challenging as signal strength was good only close to the access points and we were further away from the access points and it was dropping several times. We had to ask for a change of room. The breakfast buffet was good (limited choice for vegetarians, but not bad). On the whole the trip was EXCELLENT and I will definitely recommend AAT (Rossie)/TravelTriangle (Chetna Sharma).

Hotel Somadevi Angkor, Siem Reap had poor service. Not at all suitable for tourists. LCS, Phnom Penh was above average. Guide and vehicle at both places were very good. The bus transport provided to travel to Phnom Penh was bad. A crammed 10 seater was very tiring for 5hr travel. Excepted a normal tourist bus. Angkor Vat, Angkor Thorm, Bayon temple

The trip was organised as planned. Lucy of S Viet was quick to respond to any queries and to sort out any issues we faced while on tour. A bit more information sharing upfront would be more useful, instead of us asking the tour timings everyday. The Pacific Angkor hotel at Siam Reap was quite nice, but it is not suitable for vegetarians. There was nothing on the breakfast for vegetarians except fruits and bread, as even the Soup and Porridge was non-veg. Also the hotel is near Airport and far away from city, that we had to pay for TukTuk more than the cost of dinner everyday that we stayed there, as the hotel restaurant options were very limited.

Sayoni's 10 days trip to Cambodia

The tour conducted by Asia Authentic Travel was quite eventful. The itinerary was well set and the activities were arranged meticulously. The only thing is we as a family of 3 experienced some discomfort in our hotel at Saigon. The room was particularly small, amenities less and the room was not cleaned as well. The housekeeping staff did not seemed to attend to our room. We later on did say so at the hotel reception but it was too late and we were leaving the next morning. Ps- we stayed at Ann Harbour (Saigon) for 3 nights. Apart from that our hotel at Siem Reap (Tara Angkor Wat) was marvellous. Excellent buffet breakfast, overall great food at the restaurant too ! Phnom Penh hotel (Pacific) was good too, however it did not have a on site restaurant and we had difficulty accessing food later for dinner, buffet breakfast was okay. The hotel at Hanoi (Amorita Boutique) was alright but we had to ensure that we got breakfast (as promised) because their kitchen was still not ready to attend to visitors. The river cruise at Halong Bay (Renea) was amazing, we spent a great night there. There were too many activities, food was good and we enjoyed ourselves. Over all our drivers and tour guides were good, punctual, polite, well mannered and we had a memorable time travelling around Cambodia and Vietnam. Special thanks to Eric (Tuan) who conducted the tour and was constantly available during the whole trip via Whatsapp.
