Hot Air Balloon in Siem Reap, Cambodia

There are two types of flights in of hot air balloon in Siem Reap. One of them takes the visitors around the green fields and outskirts of the Angkor village. It is a real adventure to see the localities of the old medieval site from up there. These hot air balloon rides in Siem Reap usually last for forty minutes and randomly stops at places. It is very much exciting an experience to hover over the trees and villages and see the lush greeneries of Cambodia look like a pretty toy town. However, this Siem Reap hot air balloon ride does not fly over Angkor Wat or any other temples in the site, because the temples are under UNESCO protection and it is against the rules and regulations.  

The other type is the cheaper option, but nevertheless an enriching experience – the tethered hot air balloon in Siem Reap. The ride stays tied to the particular location on the ground with a mechanical cable, and the balloon flies up at 100 meters and offers a spectacular view of Angkor Wat and its surroundings for 10-15 minutes. The scenery is at its best during sunrise and sunset, when the temple set against the dark orange of the sky looks breathtakingly beautiful. Glimpses of Phnom Bakheng and the West Baray can also be seen, as well as Tonle Sap Lake and Phnom Khrom on a clear day with no overcast.
