Paris Travel Guide (France)

On Paris holidays, from the Catacombs to the top of the Eiffel Tower, there's a lot to explore in the City of Love. No matter how many times you have been to this wonderful city, Paris offers you something new every time you visit this place. Paris, the capital of France, is a home to some of the oldest and most modern places with a twist of cultural blend. It's always a timeless experience to teeter along the cobbled streets and to shop for some souvenirs with a Paris travel guide.

Sightseeing in Paris: The city of lights offers nothing less than a memorable experience with the marvelous structures, and amazing delicacies. At the Shangri-La hotel, a seasonal outdoor courtyard has been opened recently, and it is a great place to spend the afternoon time savoring French, or Asian dishes. As for Palais Galliera, the most fashion forward museum offers exhibitions that showcase historical, as well as modern fashion designed by some of the famous designers. The Pont Alexandre III is one of the most beautiful bridges in France and it is decorated with ornate statues.

Right from the fall of the Roman Empire to the French revolution, Christianity has remained dominant in Paris. And thus, many of the spiritual relics can be seen all across Paris.

Start your Paris city tour with historical attractions. Notre Dame Cathedral is undoubtedly the most elegant gothic Cathedral in the world. And it is also quite famous, as tourists swarm to this place during almost all the seasons. The cathedral was started during the 12th century, and it took two centuries for the cathedral to get completed.

Not too far from the Notre Dame, there rests yet another beautiful church with its glory spread all around. Built during the 13th century, this Cathedral isn't any less magnificent looking. The vibrant windows, glass panels, and paintings fill the cathedral with colors and offer the visitors a visual treat. Paris tourism sets a journey to all these historically important cathedrals and tells you about the history behind them.

History of Paris: Tourism in Paris starts from the L'arc De Triomphe, and takes you through all the must-see sights including the Catacombs, Pont Alexandre III, Louvre and the Hotel National Design Invalides. Each of these sights holds some historical value that has been carried on from generation to generation. For instance, L'arc De Triomphe was built as a symbol of the French victory. And the underground tunnels in the Catacombs dates back to the Roman period.

Take a tour to the burial places and museums, including St-Denis Basilica and Royal Necropolis, and Sacre Coeur Basilica. St-Denis Basilica and Royal Necropolis are built on the site destroyed during the French revolution. It showcases the Gothic style as in the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Sacre Coeur Basilica interior is made breathtaking with gold leaves, and other decorative elements. The tourism here is made much more interesting with a tour to other elegant buildings like the St. Sulpice Church, and the St. Eustache Church.

Honeymoon in Paris: Famed for its architectural magnificence, Paris is known as one of the most romantic destinations to visit by newly weds. Choose to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower and take a memorable cruise on the Seine River. Taking a stroll through Luxembourg Palace and Gardens or tree-lined Champs-Élysées with your beloved will also make your time in Paris special. The Louvre, Wall of "I Love You's", Pont des Arts, and Palace de Versailles are other top places in Paris to visit on a honeymoon.

Gamble till the last drop: At the end of the day, what's more refreshing than a drink at the local casino? Paris travel guide takes you to the popular casinos lining Paris. Alongside the Eiffel Tower, Champ Elysees, a lot of romance, and fashion, Paris is also home to some of the amazing casinos that you could ever wish for. Cercle Haussmann is a popular casino situated in the center of the city.  The casino offers various games including poker, and blackjack, alongside the smoking lounge, restaurant, and American style bar.

Festival In Paris: Paris being a cultural city hosts a plethora of festivals. A few of the most celebrated festivals are Banlieues Bleues, Gay Pride March, Marathon de Paris, Le Tour de France, and Bastille Day. Banlieues Bleues is a music festival and is celebrated annually for five weeks in Paris. This festival is scheduled to occur every year in the month of March and April. Gay Pride March happens every year in June, where people of same-gender celebrate love. Marathon de Paris is a marathon where more than 35000 people take part every year and a lot of people come to watch and cheer the runners. Le Tour de France is the world’s premier long-distance bicycling event covering around 3500 kilometers. A huge crowd comes to participate and also to cheer the participants. Bastille Day is celebrated every year on 14th July, the entire city becomes lively. A lot of music concerts are also held. The day starts with a military parade and ends with mesmerizing fireworks. Other festivals in Paris are Rock en Seine where rock music is celebrated and Paris, Quartier d’Ete which is a city-wide festival.

Other experiences:

If you would close your eyes and walk through the streets, your lungs would be filled with the French flavours and your ears would hear the French revolution singing. The historical monuments and French boutiques are not the only things that are worthy to savour in Paris, but even the smallest alleyways and streets even play a major role in making Paris worth your time.

Best time to visit:

The best time to visit Paris is from June to August and December to February. During the summer season in Paris, the weather is just about perfect with long days of sunshine. October to early November, the weather of Paris is enjoyable and tourist crowds are yet to arrive. December and January is the busiest time of the year with lots of honeymooners and families. Overall, summer is the ideal season for a trip to Paris.

We had a really great experience with them. Planned our anniversay trip to Bali this year and the services were exceptional. Though the request was on a short notice, our travel organiser Rishabh was very helpful in getting us the best price possible. They have offered us a customized tour package and was patient enough to take our last minute requests. Have been associated with Rishabh since 4 years and he plans all of our trips exceptionally well. Would highly recommend.

    • Trip to Switzerland

Hi, Thanks for helping us in arranging for this memorable and wonderful trip. Kudos to Siddharth from Bollywood Holidays for taking care of everything. He was in continuous touch while we were traveling, reminding us on booked tours and trips. :) There are few points we could like to highlight for making the same itinerary better : 1. We were not communicated that Jungfrau voucher needs to be exchanged for ticket in Interlaken. This created confusion and we had to pay 10eur for the same to exchange the pass with train ticket. FYI Swiss pass is applicable only till Wengen and one has to buy train tickets if they are traveling beyond Wengen, i.e. going to Jungfrau, if they haven't exchanged voucher with tickets in Interlaken Ost. 2. Though we requested to stay at Wengen for 4 nights, but we could have shifted to Zurich one night before. We initially asked if there was a direct train from Wengen to Innsbruck, but that was not the case and we end up changing trains 4 times before reaching Innsbruck. Shifted to Zurich one day before could have saved some time for us. This is a suggestion for next trip Bollywood Holidays plans. 3 . We need to buy ticket from Wengen to Interlaken on 6 june, as per the initial plan when we booked the trip, all travel was covered. 4. We felt that Austria time should have been cut short. Though we asked for 11 day plan, providing suggestion, like there is not much you could do & can think of shorting the trip or you can cover one more country, helps both party. 5. Sound of music tour was not worth the time and money. FYI for next trip you guys are planning. Only if one is hardcore fan of the movie, they will enjoy it. Though online reviews are it's good even if you decently like the movie as it covers the city outshirts..that was definitely not the case. 6. Rather than booking 2 city tours in Innsbruck, it was better to take city pass. This suggestion should have came from Agent. We realized that city pass is a better option for Innsbruck & Salzburg after reaching cities. 7. All major tourist places closes at 5 PM. So it's better to book a train which starts such that we get the full day at one place before 5PM, if possible. This is again a feedback to make the experience better for the travellers. Jungfrau excursion, trek to Murren, cafes in Interlaken, trummelbach fall in lautebrunnen.
