History of Diu
Diu have been an important part of India. It used to be the major port of india between 14 and 16 century, it was a trading post and naval base from which ottomans controlled the northern Arabian sea shipping route. The porteguese secured control Diu in 1535 and kept until India launched Operation Vijay in 1961. Diu, Daman and goa administered as a single union territory until 1987. With Daman, Diu is still governed by delhi as part of union Territory.

Diu Fort
Diu fort is an old portegues landmark which was built in between 1535 to 1541. The Diu Fort is also known in Portegues Fort. It was built by Porteguese as Portuguese India's defensive fortifications at the eastern tip of the island of Diu during the 16th century.
INS Khukri memorial
INS Khukri memorial is built in the memorial of Indian Naval ship that sank in Indo-Pak war of 1971. The memorial was inaugurated on 15 December 1999. This memorial site is dedicated to Captain Mahendra and his crew. There is an amphitheatre, adjacent to it.
Nagoa Beach
Nagoa beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of India. It is one of the most common spot for local picnics. The beach is in unique shoe shape. It stretches for around 2 km. The beach is fun spot for swimming, water sports, camel or pony riding.
Jalandhar Beach

Naida Caves

By Air
Diu Airport is the best way of reaching Diu. It is the fastest way as well. If you are wondering about how to reach Diu faster, there cannot be a better way to do so than by flight. Air India holds flights 4 times a week from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport to the Diu Airport. These flights operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Hence, plan your Diu trip according to the flight schedules. Alternatively, there is a chopper service that operates between Daman and Diu- the two Union Territories, thus cutting down the 13-hour road journey into an hour of chopper journey. Chopper is available from Monday to Saturday and it costs about INR 3000 for one person.
By Train
There is no railway station close by to Diu. The nearest railway station to Diu is in Veraval, which is about 90 km away from Diu by road. It has rail connections to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and other nearby cities. It is a budget-friendly way of traveling to Diu. Somnath Express (09252, 19221, 19222) and Veraval Express (16334) are some of the popular trains that reach Veraval.
By Road
There are 24 buses that leave from Diu as well as arrive that you can choose from. Diu by bus is connected to Gujarat by a bridge. Thus, it is pretty well-connected to all the major cities like Veraval, Rajkot, Porbandar, Daman, etc. The Gujarat State Buses, as well as the private buses, make traveling to Diu much easier.
