Travel to Mandi

Wondering which mode of transport to choose for reaching Mandi? Nearly all the major cities of North India are correlated with Mandi routes. So it is basically a question of your convenience and comfort as per which mode of transport to consider for reaching Mandi. Local Transport in Mandi

By Air

Mandi does not maintain any personal airport. The closest airfield to Mandi is the Bhuntar airport which is situated in Kullu. This airport is considered to be a challenging airport for airmen to land safely their planes as the only runway is situated in a valley which is environed by the peaks. Bhuntar airport is connected to Chandigarh and Delhi so passengers traveling from these two places can easily visit Mandi. Once you reach Bhuntar Airport, you can book yourself a cab, uber or any taxi and head towards Mandi. Other transports like buses and auto-rickshaws are used by many tourists to get in and out of Mandi from the Bhuntar Airport.

By Train

If you don’t prefer taking the road route then the train is the next best alternative for you. However, Mandi has no railway station of its own and the nearest railway house is situated in Joginder Nagar which is nearly 55 km away from Mandi. Currently, there are two trains that take a halt at this station. Further planning is being done to extend the Kangra Valley Railway to Mandi and finally correlate it with a new Bilaspur-Mandi-Leh railway track.

By Road

Mandi by road is one of the most suitable options when a question like how to reach Mandi comes in mind. The roads of major cities like Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana are all well connected to the city of Mandi. Regular HRTC buses are majorly observed on the connecting roads of Mandi and Delhi. If you adore natural hues and enchanting dusks then it is suggested you must consider going to Mandi by road. Chandigarh to Mandi distance is approximately 5 hours and Shimla to Mandi distance too isn’t much, many holidaymakers prefer taking the road route to reach Mandi as the journey between is beautiful and considered safe.

Overall, my travel experience was excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed my trip. A special thanks to Sandeep Sir from Turn On Vacations for his assistance. Hotel Welcome Paradise provided a wonderful stay. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the location offered a perfect view from the room. The

food was good, although there is room for improvement, especially with dinner. The breakfast, however, was quite nice. Hotel Old Manali Retreat was good overall, but we faced some issues with the location on the map, as it was inaccurate. However, the view from the room was fantastic and definitely made my day. The staff and food were below average, though. Hotel Indrasan was another excellent property. The staff were polite, the food was very nice, and we had a good variety of options for both breakfast and dinner. Chalo Kasol Huts and Camp was a great camping option. Although there’s no view from the room, it is located near the river, which allowed us to enjoy the surroundings. The dinner here was excellent, with multiple varieties. It’s important to note that the timing for both dinner and breakfast is fixed. They won’t serve food before the designated time, and while the meals may be delayed, they won’t be served early. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to have breakfast on our last morning due to an early checkout, as my driver was in a hurry. Driver Experience: The driver was good overall. The first two days went smoothly, but his behavior changed on the activity day. We didn’t participate in any of the activities where he dropped us, which seemed to affect his attitude. On the last day, I had informed him multiple times that I needed to reach Chandigarh by 4 PM due to a 5 PM train. However, he had to pick up another traveler, and he dropped us off in Chandigarh at 2 PM. Due to his hurry, we missed our breakfast that morning.
