Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park: Entry Fee, Ticket Price & Timings (2026)

The park authorities have discussed introducing a nominal entry ticket, but it has not been rolled out yet. Until it is, general entry stays free. Because a fee like this can change on short notice, it is worth a quick call to the park before a special trip.

Entry fee and ticket price: what is free, what is paid

Here is the full charge picture in one place. General visitors pay nothing. The only paid items are commercial photo and video services.

There is no separate rate card for Indian visitors versus foreign nationals for general entry, because general entry is free for everyone. Photography and event charges are the same regardless of nationality.

Timings and how much time you need

Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park is open 9 am to 7 pm, Monday to Sunday. Plan for about three to four hours to walk the hilltop temple complex, the statue avenues and the gardens without rushing. The climb up to the main temple is on the steeper side, so give yourself time and water.

The best daily windows are mid-morning, roughly 10 am to 1 pm, and late afternoon from about 4 pm to closing, when the light softens over the Ashwini Khad valley and the heat eases. Midday in summer can be tiring on the open pathways.

How to reach Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park

The park sits near Harat village on the Solan side of the Shimla belt, off the old NH-5 (formerly NH-22). Rough distances to plan your drive:

• From Solan: about 15 km, a 30 to 40 minute drive.

• From Shimla: about 40 km, roughly 1.5 hours.

• From Chandigarh: about 85 km, around 2.5 to 3 hours.

• Nearest railhead: Solan on the Kalka to Shimla narrow-gauge line, with Kalka the nearest broad-gauge junction.

What is inside the park

Mohan Shakti was built by Kapil Mohan of the Mohan Meakin family and spreads across roughly 40 acres of terraced hillside. It is part temple, part sculpture park and part open-air museum of Vedic themes.

The marquee sights are the hilltop temple crowned with a twin Om, a striking Surya riding his seven-horse chariot, life-size statues of Vedic rishis, a Shivling shrine, animal sculptures along the walkways, a small cultural museum and landscaped gardens that open onto the Ashwini Khad valley viewpoint. It pairs naturally with the other places to visit in Solan, so most travellers fold it into a wider Solan day out.

Best time to visit

September to November and March to June are the most comfortable months, with clear hill air and green surroundings. The monsoon peak in July and August brings slippery paths on the climb, so tread carefully if you go then. Winter is crisp and quiet if you do not mind the cold. For the light and the temperature, arrive either mid-morning or in the last couple of hours before the 7 pm close.
