About Shivaganga Hills in Bangalore
Shivaganga hills, situated at about 56 km from Bangalore, is a combination of temples and scenic beauty that makes it both a pilgrimage as well as an adventure spot. From a distance, the hillock looks like a 'Shiva Linga' a symbolisation of Lord Shiva.
There are many water spots on the way to the top of the hill and people there believe the water is of the sacred river Ganga. As a result of this, the hillock gained its name as Shivaganga. The sculptured marvel of 'Nandi'- the bull is a major attraction of the place and attracts a lot of visitors from different parts of the state. The place also known for its spiritual attractions is also known as Dakshina Kashi or Kashi of South India because of the numerous temples situated here like Gangadhareshwara temple, Patala Gange, Olakala Teertha, Nandi Statue, etc. The beautiful hills also attract a lot of adventure sports enthusiasts providing them opportunities of trekking and rock climbing. All in all, it is a popular getaway for travelers with both religious and adventurous inclinations.
The trek is suitable for beginners with just an ascent of 800 meters, with the tougher part of terk in the end with the trail getting steeper and narrower. The trek is also well marked with man made steps, which makes it suitable for amateurs. The panoramic view from the top is mesmerising. On reaching the top of the hill, visitors can see two sculptures of Nandi (Bull- vehicle of Shiva) are carved out of a monolithic stone, placed on the two remote tips of the hills.

Trip to KarnatakaDriver was good. Journey was good. Sightseeing was good. Biggest let down was the place to stay. It was just horrible. They didn't provide us water towels or anything. We had to ask for everything one by one. Breakfast was pathetic. Cold and not cooked well. The cabin given to us wasn't clean. There was no extra bed provided but a mattress to sleep on the floor in a wooden cabin.
