About Hampi Tourism

Hampi, Karnataka is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near Hospet town in Karnataka state on the banks of Tungabhadra River, India. A dynamic and dramatic place, Hampi is an open museum and dotted by several temples, ruins of palaces, remains of aquatic structures, ancient market streets, royal pavilions, bastions, royal platforms, treasury buildings, and surprises that randomly pop up. In terms of history and architecture, Hampi is a highly significant destination. In addition, Hampi is a noteworthy religious center of the Vijayanagara Empire due to the presence of the historic Virupaksha Temple along with many other monuments of the old city. These factors contribute to the growth of Hampi tourism that imparts a fulfilling vacation experience to tourists.

Hampi history states that Hampi was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire that was established by Saint Vidyaranya in 1336 AD with the help of two of his disciples, Hakka Raya and Bukka Raya, flourished under the rule of Emperor Krishnadevaraya. Stretching over the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, it maintained a huge army to protect it from other kingdoms. Hampi grew as a trade center for cotton, spices, and gemstones. It was one of the richest and largest cities in the world during 15th and 16th centuries. Today, it is a backpacker's paradise as well as a pilgrim's delight.

What is more fascinating about Hampi is the fact that it has hills scattered all around and the notable ones are Anjaneya Hill, Matunga HIll, Malyavanta Hill, and Hemakuta Hill. Over an area of 26 sq. km, in and around Hampi, the ruins of Vijayanagara Empire are spread. Major tourist attractions in this place are divided into two broad regions - the Hampi Bazaar area and the Royal center near Kamalapur. Hampi monuments stand as celebrated epitomes of ancient civilizations that were built during 1336 to 1646. Achyutaraya Temple, Zenith Enclosure, Lotus Mahal, and Sasivekalu are among the symbols of ancient architectural and sculptural prowess. Hazara Rama Temple, Krishna Temple Complex, Kondana Rama Temple, and Malyavanta Raghunatha Swamy Temple speak leaps and bounds about the Hampi temple treasure.

Buying home tidbits from Hampi remind vacationers of the marvelous place visited. They can buy stone artefacts, Lambani crafts, leather crafts, musical instruments, and banana fiber crafts as keepsakes and gift items.

When it comes to food, Hampi serves a platter of delectable surprises such as bhakri (chapati), badanekayi (stuffed brinjal), ellu chutney, ranjaka (a type of chutney), kosambari (daal, cucumber, carrot dish), bele kaalu (sprouted daal), and saaru (a type of soup).

Apart from sightseeing, Hampi attractions offer tourists to indulge in various exciting activities such as staying in a hut on Hippie Island, climbing the hills to catch stunning views around, witness breathtaking sunsets, jump off a cliff to swim in a freshwater lake (watch signs for crocodile inhabited waters), and ride a ferry on Red River with statues of the rocks. The little ancient town reverberates with celebrations in the month of November, when Hampi Festival - the most important festival here is organized by the Government of Karnataka. Celebrated for three days, the festival involves dance, drama, music, and processions.

When it comes to accommodation in Hampi city, tourists can choose from budget hotels, guest houses, upscale resorts, and 5 star properties. Hampi is well-connected to Hospet Junction railway station, which is just 13 km away. Long-distance and interstate buses also ply from Hospet bus stand. Hampi can also be reached by a road trip as roads here are smooth and well-maintained.

Tourists should keep a Hampi map handy to explore the lovely place on their own conveniently. This is a unique place that is backpacker’s haven, a historian’s riddle, a geologist’s venture, and a pilgrim’s paradise. With this information about Hampi, vacationers can delight in this carnival of carvings and fantasy world of rocks and ruins.

Srujanab's 4 days trip to Hampi

We have been to Ooty, Kodaikanal and Palani on a family trip The itinerary was perfectly scheduled by Mr. Rahul Singh from travel triangle. The support from Rahul was fantastic. He need to be rewarded for his tremendous support.   We visited all the places in the itinerary as per plan and we have enjoyed a lot. The 4 stared hotels picked up on the team are imaginary They gave us the best suites.   There were variety of food options. The breathtaking landscapes and pleasant weather were definitely the highlights of the trip The local markets sell fresh produce, homemade chocolates, and souvenirs   Only thing is they need to have supportive drivers and English speaking people. Sarvendra's 3 days trip to Hampi

Planner is just a middle person working with Hotels and travelers. Though they claim to have control over everything it's not the case. Better to go with a local agent who is connected and knows things.
