Travel Tips for Kolkata Travellers Visiting Kerala

Book tickets early, pack light clothes and rain gear, carry cash, pre-book hotels and houseboats, and check local weather and festivals for a smooth, enjoyable Kerala trip.

  • Book early: If you want a hassle-free trip, it is better to book your flight or train tickets well in advance. This is very important during busy times like Onam, Christmas, or New Year, when tickets can sell out quickly. Early booking also helps you get better prices.
  • Pack smart: Kerala has a tropical climate, so pack light cotton clothes that are comfortable in the heat. Don’t forget sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. If you are travelling during the monsoon season, carry raincoats or umbrellas. Comfortable shoes are also important if you plan to explore hills or backwaters.
  • Carry cash: While bigger cities like Kochi or Trivandrum have good digital payment facilities, smaller towns and villages may not. Keep some cash handy for small shops, local markets, or street food.
  • Pre-book services: To avoid last-minute stress, it’s a good idea to pre-book hotels, houseboats, and cab transfers through verified operators. This ensures you get safe and reliable services without worrying about availability.
  • Stay updated: Kerala is full of festivals and cultural events. Check the local weather before travelling and keep an eye on festival dates like Theyam, Onam, or boat races. Joining these events can give you a richer experience of Kerala’s culture.

Following these simple tips will help you have a smooth, enjoyable, and memorable holiday in Kerala without facing common travel problems.

Mitali's 5 days trip to Kerala

The agent messed up with the hotel booking in Munnar and were trying to portray that I was the cruel person for questioning them on why the booking was not done even after extra payment for the desired room. The hotel that was provided last minute did not have a proper food options and as i was travelling with senior citizen parents it caused a lot of problem as the property was in the interior. Yet i was being portrayed as cruel for raising my voice against this issue
