The road route is the fastest and most common way to reach Cherai. From Ernakulam you cross the Goshree bridges onto Vypin island, then follow the coastal road north through Njarackal and Pallipuram to Cherai. From Cochin airport or Aluva the shorter approach runs through Edappally and North Paravur before joining the Vypin road. Both routes are well signposted and take roughly 45 minutes to an hour in normal traffic.

By self-drive or taxi (fastest)

A private taxi or app cab from Kochi city to Cherai costs about Rs 600 to Rs 800 one way and takes 45 minutes to an hour. Is there a metro to Cherai Beach?

Kochi Metro does not run to Vypin island or Cherai Beach, so no metro station sits within walking distance of the beach. The most useful metro railhead is Aluva, the northern terminus, about 22 to 25 km from Cherai, from where you take a bus or taxi through North Paravur. If you are already in the city, a good combination is to ride the metro to the Ernakulam stations, then cross to Vypin by ferry or the Water Metro and finish by road.
