Me along with my friends have traveled to Kerala to visit Alleppey, Munnar, Kumarakom, Alleppey, Kovalam and Cochin for 9 days with Raisoone Travels. Ranjan from Raisoone Travels helped us to choose and visit best places with reasonable package but with premium properties. Our overall trip went very well with out any hassles. On tour support was also superb, we got some issues during check-in to Kumarakom Hotel but it was resolved immediately by Raisoone Travels, this is why you should book your tour with good travel agency. They provided us a very good customer service with very well behaved professional driver who is been very supportive through out our journey. I am proudly rating them 5 Star for all the support and services during trip. Willing to travel with Raisoone Travels again in the future !!!!

    • Trip to Kumarakom

The fact that Kerala itself is such an awe of beauty it can always make one ignore the negative aspects of any trip. Mountains, valleys, backwater, beaches, forests and every other aspects of nature makes this place itself an one man army. To talk about Travel Triangle, thanks a lot for arranging such an wonderful trip. The travel expert Anita was always responsive and a call or text away from reach. It was heavy rain and bad weather just 3days before our trip but Anita and her team made us always feel safe with the positive vibes and live information. The next part is the car and our driver Binil, probably one of the best part of the trip and a truly good man. Always punctual very friendly and kindof our tour guide, Thanks a lot to him. But two things that i must be honestly say I didnt like from the team: 1. Before the booking , i asked and confirmed many a times about extra bed as there was a lady with us, and i was ensured about that extra bed will be provided but from the hotels we come to know that they only provide extra mattress on the ground and not an extra bed and its the only thing they provide, so it was a complete misguidance and very disappointing. 2. We booked for allepy but only on the particular day we came to know that our booking has been shifted to Kumarakom houseboat, which was quite a far away, this should have been informed before. Apart from these the trip was excellent, hotels were good too only except the extra bed facility, the fact that Kerala itself is so mesmerizing it could easily make one ignore all the faults. Its truly - "Gods Own Country"

    FAQ's of Kumarakom

Read on to find out why our customers love us!

Two of the major catches for the fishermen in Kumarakom are the Karimeen, also known as the Pearl Spot and shrimp. Many of the local delicacies are based around the two with one of the most popular dishes being the Karimeen Pollichathu, which is grilled Karimeen wrapped in a banana leaf after being prepared with rich spices.

Kumarakom was involved in many of the fights for supremacy between the local kings in Kerala. There are still remains of a fort wall in Kumarakom. The Taj hotel building also has a piece of history attached to it. The bungalow was built by a British man called Alfred. G. Baker whose family lived there for the next 4 generations and influenced a lot of the things that happened in the area. It was a ruin after they left until the Taj Group took over and converted it into the luxury resort it is now.

Kumarakom is home to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary which is an excellent location for photographers that are interested in birding. A large number of rare, migratory birds can be found here. Kumarakom beach is also an excellent place for photography and the Aruvikkuzhi waterfalls deserve a mention as well.

Kumarakom is a rich hub for boating and as such, there are many different kinds of boats here. Especially impressive are the snake boats, which are boats that are also used in boat races. In the months of August and September, there are various boat races which are unique to Kumarakom and an exciting spectacle to behold.

Kumarakom condenses the essence of a holiday in Kerala. Home to Kerala's biggest backwater, Vembanad lake, spending time on a houseboat is a must. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is also an important spot for tourists along with Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall. The Maya Spa is well reputed for it's Ayurvedic massages and the traditional art forms of Kathakali and Kalaripayattu can be found and enjoyed here as well.
