How To Reach Kumarakom Backwaters

A backwaters cruise can be started from a lot of points if you are in Kumarakom. For instance, one can start from Kottayam, which is located close to Kumarakom. The houseboats are tethered at a spot near a fishing village so that tourists can get on and settle in before the boat leaves for a cruise around the backwaters, and the many canals that offer some of the most beautiful views across the small villages.

To get to the point where the houseboats are tethered, the best way is to take a cab from your hotel or the railway station, based on your itinerary. There are no buses available that go to the interiors of these villages, where the houseboats reside. Local transports, as in auto rickshaws or manual rickshaws, are also not available so there aren’t any other options to get to the houseboats but through the cabs.<readmore> Make sure to keep a couple of hours handy to reach there from the nearest railways stations, which are Kottayam, Tiruvizha Railway Station, and the Kumaranallur railway station.
