Best Time to Visit Munnar

Munnar sees the highest number of travelers from September to March when the weather in the hill station is most pleasant and ideal for activities like photography, adventures, camping etc. One gets to enjoy the famous Attukal Pongala festival in the month of February. 

Monsoon season begins in the month of June and continues till September. This is not the best time to visit Munnar as the rainfall is quite high but Munnar turns out to be a pleasing and enchanting place due to the lush green valleys and tea estates. June - September(23°C to 35°C):

October - November(22°C to 34°C):

Onam

This is the most popular festival celebrated in Munnar during August and September. Nehru Trophy Boat Race

The starting point of this boat race is the Punnamada Lake and it is celebrated on the second Saturday of August every year. The whole aura is filled with vibrant celebrations. Traditional dances are also performed before the beginning of the race. The boats are colorfully decorated and festivities last throughout the day.

Thrissur Pooram Festival

This is a royal festival wherein more than thirty elephants walk through the streets in colorful costumes showcasing the symbolic royal objects. The parade is a treat for the eyes to see.  The Thrissur Pooram festival is celebrated in the month of May.

Attukal Pongala

This festival is exclusively celebrated by the women of Munnar wherein all the women go to the temple and offer a pudding cooked by them to the deity of the temple. The whole aura during this time is pleasant and soothing.
