How To Reach Nashik

Nashik is an important pilgrimage site in northwest Maharashtra, India.

It is located on the banks of the Godavari River, about 190 kilometres north of Mumbai. Known for its magnificent temples and sacred ghats, Nashik holds great religious and mythological significance and is even associated with stories from Ramayana. This guide will explain in detail how to reach Nashik by various routes and modes of transport. Nashik is well-connected by rail and road networks, and regular taxis & bus services go back and forth from the city.

Nashik is the third-largest district in Maharashtra by area and population, and it is served by the Nashik Ozar International Airport, situated about 24 kilometres from the city centre. The airport offers direct domestic flights to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Indore, Lucknow, and Nagpur. It also connects internationally to Germany, France, Italy, and more. You can hail cabs and shared taxis to go from Ozar to Nashik city at the airport.

Nasik Road Railway Station is situated on the outskirts of Nashik city, about 12 km away. It is an A1 category railway station - one of the oldest and busiest ones in the country. Almost 300 trains stop at the railway station, and it is also named one of the cleanest stations in the entire country. The connectivity is excellent, especially for cities in Maharashtra, such as Mumbai and Pune. You can also access multiple trains daily from Nashik to all the major metro cities. You can get a bus or a taxi to the city from the railway station for at most 150-200 rupees.

The road network extending from Nashik is excellent. Nashik is on the Mumbai-Agra national highway and is also connected to Pune via NH-50. Surat, Aurangabad, Dhule, Ahmednagar, and other cities are also easily accessible from here. The Mumbai-Nashik expressway also reduces travel time between the two cities, although it is often congested. Frequent government and private buses run between the various Maharashtrian cities. You can find non-AC, AC, and Volvo buses, shared cabs, and taxis.
