Best Time To Visit Auckland

Auckland sees the highest number of travelers in the summer season from December to February. The beach activities and adventures can be best experienced in the summer season. The hotel prices and flight tickets are generally high during this season. The main festivals that take place between December to February are Coca-Cola Christmas in the Pask, Auckland Folk Festival which is celebrated in the year January, Flamingo Pier (February), and Auckland Pride Festival which is also celebrated in the month of February. 

There is no monsoon season in Auckland, however, July is considered the wettest month of the year with slight rainfall in June and August as well. Cool winds generally blow during this time, so it is not an ideal time to visit Auckland. 

Auckland Weather in March-May (15°C to 20°C)

Since New Zealand is located in the southern hemisphere, the seasons here are opposite of what you might be used to. So, from March to May, Auckland experiences autumn instead of spring. The city is the prettiest during this time of the year. The temperature stays pleasant and is absolutely perfect for outdoor activities. As the peak season subsides, the cost of accommodations might be lower, with a higher availability of options.

June-August is comparatively a low season. July is the wettest and coldest month. Auckland and the rest of the country is cold during this time and receives scattered rainfall all over as well. Snow is not very common in Auckland, as the temperature doesn’t drop that low. But there are very strong winds, so it might feel a lot colder and therefore might not be the best season to visit Auckland.

September to November is again a great time to visit, with the cold from winter almost gone and the next peak season of summer yet to come. So, on one hand, you get the best temperatures of spring, and on the other hand, cheaper hotels and airfare rates. You can expect lots of lush greenery all around.

From December to February, Auckland experiences summer. This is the peak travel season in Auckland. The sun is the brightest and temperature is the warmest. All the beach activities are in full swing. Adventure activities like kayaking, bungee jumping, skydiving, and scuba diving are also best enjoyed during the Auckland summer.

October to January is the time when all the big festivals in Auckland take place. The Lantern Festival and Chinese New Year, the Christmas holidays, the Wine and Food Festival and the most famous Polynesian celebration – Pasifika Festival, takes place during this time.

Best Time to Visit Auckland for New Zealand International Film Festival: If you want to attend the famous New Zealand Film Festival then the best time to visit is from July to August. New Zealand Fashion Week can be enjoyed from August to September.
