Adventure Activities Auckland
Auckland is the most happening city of New Zealand, and there are many interesting activities and fun stuff to do in Auckland, be it with your family, with your partner or with your friends.
Adventure activities in Auckland
Auckland is a hub for adventure activities. Some of the fun activities to do in Auckland are Sky Walk and Sky Jump in the Sky Tower, Bridge Climb and bungee jumping from Auckland Harbour Bridge, canyoning in the Waitakere Ranges, jet-boating in the sea, swim with dolphins at Bay of Islands, scuba dive with Great White Sharks at the Sealife Aquarium, kayaking in Rangitoto Island and hiking in the volcanic Mount Eden.
Shopping in Auckland
Auckland has equally amazing shopping scene as adventure activities. The CBD area has some really great neighbourhoods like the Britomart, Ponsonby, Queen Street, High Street, and Kitchener Street. One can also try out the malls Smith and Caughey’s, Lynn Mall, Sylvia Park, and Albany Westfield. Shopping in these covered malls is the best thing to do in Auckland in December.
Here are some of the best things to do in Auckland.
1. Adventure activities at the Sky Tower
The Sky Tower is not only the dominant building of Auckland’s skyline but also a hub for adrenaline-inducing adventure. Other than being home to multiple bars, nightclubs, and restaurants and offering a spectacular view of the city, Sky Tower also offers two extreme sports to indulge in which is the Sky Jump from the height of 192 metres and Sky Walk along the outer edge of the tower. It is one of the most exciting things to do in Auckland.
2. Hiking and kayaking in Rangitoto Island
Rangitoto is a dormant volcano off the coast of Auckland. It can be reached by a 25 minute ferry from the main city or by the causeway from Motutapu Island. A hike to the summit through the old lava flows will offer an excellent view across the harbour. Down in the water, one can hire a kayak for a tour of the harbour during sunset.
3. Wine tasting in Waiheke Islands
Only a 35-minute ferry ride away is the dreamland for wine connoisseurs. The island with mesmerising beaches, sprawling vineyards, and some 30 wineries is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the main city. You can go on a wine tasting tour and stay over for an authentic Kiwi vineyard lunch.
4. Bridge Climb and Bungee Jumping at the Auckland Harbour Bridge
Auckland Harbour Bridge is one of the few special bridges which you are allowed to climb without being declared senile. Among all the fun stuff to do in Auckland, this is quite adventurous. This is a fun climb, where on is guided on every step of the way by a trained professional, and finally rewarded with a 360°C view of Auckland at the end. The Bungee Jumping here, with a leap of 40 metres from under the bridge, is yet another exciting Auckland tourist activity.
5. Cross-country hike
Cross-country hike usually means a schedule of multiple days, but with New Zealand, it can be done in 5 hours. From Viaduct Harbour on Auckland’s east coast to Manukau Harbour on the west coast, the 16 km coast to coast hike is characterised by urban landscapes as well as beautiful pastures and dormant volcanoes.

Monika's 10 days trip to AucklandDue to corona spread all was locked down. We were forced by US govt to cancel further travel in the city. Request sent for refunding our money back. But not heard on it so far. Corona is the only memory
Birinder's 10 days trip to AucklandOverall a well organised trip of 16 nights in Newzealand that took us through both North and South Islands. Bella Vista Motel and Appartments at Christchurch is not suitably located near to a market and also rooms were very small. Milford Sound Cruise and 90 mile Beach Visit. Weather could be a spoil sport and our Franz Josep Glacier Walk & Kaikura Whale watching trips got cancelled.
Tarun's 12 days trip to AucklandRaunak provided us with all that we required for our trip to New Zealand. He is energetic and was always ready to get us the best deals in our budget. Everything was taken care of before hand - car rentals, hotel booking, as well as reservations for our activities and we didn't have to worry about anything. There was a slight hiccup due to bad weather - some better planning could have been better. However the refund for the cancelled event was provided to me on time - so kudos for that. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend Wanderbird Holidays!
Yug's 10 days trip to AucklandRaunak Pathak from Wanderbird Holidays was our agent from Travel Triangle for our trip to New Zealand. Raunak helped us plan with the best Itinerary, whether it was wrt the activities covered, hotels stayed or rental car selected. Everything was perfect. He ensured we are aware of all the rules or stuffz that are important for a tourist to know. It was never that we had to do any follow ups. The vouchers of hotel and activities were all received well before time. It was great of him to call us and discuss the itinerary in detail for an hour just before the trip ensuring we are well versed with the itinerary. His efforts showed he did a part greater than what an agent would generally do.
Ashishjain's 7 days trip to AucklandIt was overall a good experience. However, I would like to convey that Pickyourtrail has been really exceptional in ticketing, but in the planning of the overall trip it was poor. Follow-ups with the bookings and transfers that are required in any foreign trip was neglected, which I would consider as a big blunder from their end. I had faced issues like our vouchers being considered as incorrect in few of the places and in some, the agents to whom we were connected on the trip were not even aware of the booking. Their support team has a lot of people for sure but there is a lack of proper response from them. Our itinerary changes were not updated in the app which again created confusion for their support team who were not even aware of the changes. At the end of the day, there is only one person who gives the right directions and the rest of them just create confusion. I would give another shot in travelling with them only if they decide to go up a notch with travel planning rather than just giving us the tickets/vouchers. Just putting in my honest feedback, Thanks!
Shilpi's 9 days trip to AucklandWent for a vacation to North Island in New Zealand in Feb 2020. Wanderbird Holidays were of great help in planning the week long trip. All information and suggestions provided by them regarding hotels, activities, cost, location etc was so accurate, I felt as if they are sitting in NZ and planning my trip for me. Raunak even helped me adjust the budget in ways so that I don't end up wasting money. Highly recommended!
Manoj's 7 days trip to AucklandIt was indeed an amazing experience as it has to be because it’s Newzealand. A paradise for Nature Loving people. And when you have a backup team of agents like Globe Trotting, you travel carefree. We had experienced all the climates there in the world in short trip to Newzealand. The Scenic Beauty while traveling from Queenstown to Milford Sound was breathtaking.
