Being located on an island nation, the best way to reach Auckland is by air. For those searching for how to go to Auckland can board a connecting flight from Delhi or Mumbai. Connecting flights by Singapore Airlines, AirAsia X, Jet Airways, etc. may take up to 20 hours to reach New Zealand. Auckland is the busiest and liveliest city of New Zealand and by default the most visited one by tourists as well.  

How to reach Auckland from India

The best way to reach from India to Auckland is by flight. There are cheap flights to Auckland from all the major cities of India, and even cheaper during the off seasons. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad are among the cities which have the best flights to Auckland. The average flight duration from India to Auckland is no less than 16 hours to cover at least 12,000 kilometers. It is advised that one should book tickets to Auckland well in advance to avail the highest discount possible and also to make sure of availability, especially if you are going during the peak season.

Auckland Airport (AKL) is the busiest international airport in New Zealand, and also the largest and busiest. The airport is located near Mangere, a residential suburb, from where it is only 25 minutes’ drive to Auckland city centre via the State Highway 20. Every day, there are numerous incoming and outgoing flights from this airport, and among them, many are from and to India as well. Within the city, the main transportations are bus and ferries. Britomart Transport Centre in the Central Business District of Auckland is the nerve centre of all the transports.

Here is how you can get from India to Auckland.

There are no direct nonstop flights to Auckland from India. But there are multiple connecting ones that you can avail. One of the best India to Auckland flights is flown by Thai Airlines from Delhi, which takes around 16 hours 35 minutes to reach via Bangkok. Malaysia Airlines does it in 17 hours 50 minutes via Kuala Lumpur and Singapore Airlines takes 19 hours 20 minutes via Singapore. These three names are the most frequent carriers. Others are Qantas, Air India, jet Airways and air New Zealand, but they mostly operate jointly with another airline. India to Auckland flight time from Mumbai is actually even lesser – 16 hours 15 minutes is the best time provided by Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand together. From Chennai, it is 16 hours 30 minutes by Singapore Airlines and Emirates.

Auckland has a very efficient underground railway network operated by Auckland Transport. It has four lines – eastern, southern, western and the Onehunga line, which serve all around Auckland. From India, there are no railway links directly to Auckland for the same reason there is no roadway. But once you land in Auckland, this railway system will be at your service.

Auckland roadways are very well-maintained and the transportation systems are ideal for local tourism. Britomart is the central hub for all the major transportations, including bus and ferry. Different carriers like SkyBus, Northern Busway, CityLink and InnerLink Bus all have their hubs here at Britomart. Across Britomart Station, there is the Auckland Ferry Terminal as well. However, there are no roadways to go from India to Auckland directly, for the obvious reason that New Zealand is an island country.

Mr. Raunak ensured meticulous planning, covering every detail, from plane tickets to hotel bookings and internal tour visits. The arrangement was so impeccable that we never had any idle moments, as each destination was thoughtfully designed step by step to eliminate any potential challenges. Right from the outset, Mr. Raunak comprehensively explained every aspect of the tour, including plane timings, vehicle pick-up and drop-off schedules, weather conditions at each location, clothing recommendations, coordination with local tours, their timings, approach locations, and parking conditions. The offered 3-to-4-star hotels were of excellent quality, strategically located in city centers for convenient travel. Mr. Raunak conducted a thorough review of the entire tour, addressing all our queries well before its commencement. He remained consistently available via phone to provide guidance. An instance highlighting his proactive approach occurred during our journey from Wanaka to Mount Cook in New Zealand. Faced with an indefinite road closure, Mr. Raunak promptly informed us and suggested an alternative route, allowing us to reach Mount Cook at 5 PM instead of 1 PM, unlike other travelers who waited in Omarama and arrived at 8:30 PM. We commend Mr. Raunak for his swift and decisive actions on that day. His regular check-ins, inquiries about our location and well-being, and unwavering cooperation compelled us to give him a perfect score of 100 out of 100. Thanks to the exceptional service of the Wonder Bird Holidays team, particularly Mr. Raunak, our tour was not only enjoyable but also hassle-free.
