Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Port Blair, Cellular Jail & Light and Sound Show
Your Andaman Nicobar tour from Kerala starts as you land at Port Blair Airport. Port Blair was officially renamed Sri Vijaya Puram in September 2024, though every ferry board and taxi driver still uses the old name. A representative meets you and takes you to your hotel for check-in. Most Kerala connections via Chennai land before noon, so after lunch you have time for the Science Centre and then an hour at Corbyn's Cove, a short drive out of town and calm enough to swim. In the evening you walk through the Cellular Jail, where freedom fighters were held in solitary cells, and stay for the Light and Sound Show in the courtyard. Book the English show early from October to January. Overnight in Port Blair. (Meals: none. Transfers and stay included.)
Day 2: Ferry to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) & Radhanagar Beach
After an early breakfast, check out and take the ferry across to Havelock Island, officially Swaraj Dweep, a ride of roughly 90 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on the vessel. Check in, drop your bags, then spend the afternoon at Radhanagar Beach, the wide west-facing curve that TIME magazine listed among Asia's best. It is calm enough to swim and faces due west, so it is where everyone gathers for the sunset. Aim to be there by 4 pm. Overnight on Havelock. (Meals: breakfast. Sightseeing, transfers and stay included.)
Day 3: Elephant Beach Snorkelling & Ferry Back to Port Blair
Go early. A shared speedboat of about 40 minutes takes you to Elephant Beach, one of the best snorkelling spots in the islands thanks to its shallow, clear water and an easy reef a few metres from the sand. You can also try a sea walk or a jet ski here, both paid on the spot. Back on Havelock by early afternoon, you pick up your bags and board the return ferry to Port Blair. The evening is free, and Aberdeen Bazaar is the place for grilled fish and a filter coffee. Overnight in Port Blair. (Meals: breakfast. Sightseeing, transfers and stay included.)
Day 4: Ross Island & Chidiya Tapu Sunset
After breakfast, visit the Andaman Water Sports Complex, then cross to historic Ross Island (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep) to walk among the ruins of the old British administrative buildings, now half-swallowed by fig roots and patrolled by tame deer. Later, head to Chidiya Tapu, the birdwatchers' point on the southern tip, about 28 km from town, for one of the best sunsets on the main island. Overnight in Port Blair. (Meals: breakfast. Sightseeing, transfers and stay included.)
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Port Blair Airport. Morning departures to Chennai and Bengaluru connect onward to Kochi, Trivandrum and Calicut the same day, so most travellers are home by evening. If your flight leaves after noon, ask us to add a stop at the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum on the way, a 45-minute look at the islands' corals, shells and tribes. (Meals: breakfast. Departure transfer included.)

How to Reach Andaman from Kerala
Kerala to Andaman is about 1,790 km in a straight line from Kochi to Port Blair, across the Bay of Bengal, and there is no road or rail link. There are no direct flights or ships from Kerala to the Andamans either. Every route connects through a mainland hub, and flying is by far the fastest. You fly from Kochi (COK), Trivandrum (TRV) or Calicut (CCJ) to Port Blair (IXZ) with one stop at Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad. The quickest one-stop connection out of Kochi takes about 4.5 hours, and 5 to 8 hours is normal once you allow for the layover. Kochi has the most daily connections, so Trivandrum and Calicut travellers sometimes pay a little more or wait longer in Chennai.
| From | Airport | Usual route to Port Blair (IXZ) | Travel time | Air distance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kochi | COK | One stop via Chennai or Bengaluru | From about 4.5 h, usually 5 to 8 h | about 1,790 km |
| Trivandrum | TRV | One stop via Chennai or Bengaluru | usually 5 to 8 h | about 1,770 km |
| Calicut | CCJ | One stop via Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad | usually 6 to 9 h | about 1,830 km |
| By sea | n/a | No ship from Kerala. Reach Chennai by train or flight, then take a government ship to Port Blair | about 60 h at sea from Chennai | about 1,370 km (Chennai to Port Blair) |
The ship is an experience rather than a shortcut. Sailings from Chennai run only a few times a month and tickets sell out weeks ahead, so on a 5-day trip it would eat the whole holiday. Read our guide to the Andaman cruise if you want to try it one way. Flying in from the Gulf to visit family in Kerala? Andaman Trip Cost from Kerala, With and Without Flights
This package costs INR 13,341 per person without flights. With return flights from Kochi, Trivandrum or Calicut, most Kerala travellers spend about INR 35,000 to INR 45,000 per person in October and November, and closer to INR 45,000 to INR 55,000 over Christmas and New Year, when fares to Port Blair roughly double.
| Cost item (per person, twin sharing) | Oct to Nov, Feb to May | Mid-Dec to mid-Jan |
|---|---|---|
| This 4N/5D package (land) | INR 13,341 | from INR 13,341 (peak hotel rates apply) |
| Return flights, Kochi / Trivandrum / Calicut to Port Blair | about INR 20,000 to INR 26,000 | about INR 30,000 to INR 40,000 |
| Water sports and entry tickets (optional) | INR 2,000 to INR 6,000 | INR 2,000 to INR 6,000 |
| Typical total with flights | about INR 35,000 to INR 45,000 | about INR 45,000 to INR 55,000 |
Two things keep the total down. Book the flight sector six to eight weeks ahead for December travel, and look at the first half of November, when the seas have settled but peak hotel rates have not started.
Add-ons: Neil, Baratang, Scuba and More
Four nights covers Port Blair and Havelock without rushing. Add one or two nights and the options below come into range. Ask for any of them in your quote.
| Add-on | Where | Adds | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discover Scuba dive | Havelock | half a day | A beginner dive with a PADI instructor, no swimming certificate needed. From about INR 3,500 for a shore dive. Boat dives cost more. |

| Baratang day trip | Middle Andaman | full day from Port Blair | Limestone caves reached by boat through mangrove creeks, plus the mud volcano. Starts before dawn. |
| Jolly Buoy or Red Skin Island | Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, via Wandoor | full day | Glass-bottom boat and snorkelling over protected reef. Only one of the two islands is open at a time, by season. |

Best Time to Visit Andaman from Kerala
| Months | Sea and weather | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| October to February | Calm seas, 23 to 30°C, reliable ferries | First trips, families and honeymooners. Christmas and New Year are the costliest weeks. |
| March to mid-May | Hotter, still calm, clearest water for diving. The southwest monsoon usually reaches the islands in the second half of May | Divers, and Kerala families using the April and May school holidays |
| June to September | Southwest monsoon, rough crossings, ferry cancellations | Budget travellers who can keep a buffer day. The cheapest flights of the year. |
Kerala and the Andamans share the same monsoon, so a rainy week in Kochi usually means choppy water at Havelock too. For the full month-by-month picture, see best time to visit Andaman.

Andaman Travel FAQs
How much does an Andaman tour package from Kerala cost?
This 4 nights 5 days Andaman tour from Kerala starts at ₹13,341 per person on twin sharing, and that rate includes 2-star stays, daily breakfast, the Port Blair-Havelock ferry, and all airport and island transfers. The final price moves with your travel dates, hotel category, how many islands you add, and any water sports you book. Flights are separate and can be added on request.
How can I go to Andaman from Kerala?
The quickest way is to fly from Kochi (COK), Trivandrum (TRV) or Calicut (CCJ) to Port Blair (IXZ) via Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad, around 5 to 7 hours in total with the layover. There are no direct ships from Kerala. If you prefer the sea leg, reach Chennai by train or flight first, then take a government passenger ship to Port Blair, which takes roughly 60 hours.
Is an Andaman trip expensive?
Andaman runs a little higher than mainland beach destinations because most supplies and fuel are shipped in, and prices peak from December to January. You keep costs down by travelling in the shoulder months, booking transfers and ferries in advance rather than on the day, and choosing 2-star or 3-star stays. This package is built around that value approach, starting at ₹13,341 per person.
What is the best time to visit Port Blair and the Andamans?
October to February is the best window for a beach holiday, with calm seas, lower humidity and good ferry reliability. If diving is your priority, March to May gives the clearest underwater visibility. The mid-year monsoon brings rougher crossings and more ferry cancellations, so plan a buffer day if you travel then.
What adventure activities can I do on Havelock Island?
Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) is the islands’ activity hub. You can scuba dive, snorkel at Elephant Beach, kayak the mangroves, try a sea walk, or take a glass-bottom boat over the reef. A beginner’s Discover Scuba dive is one of the most popular add-ons and can be slotted into this itinerary on request.
What food is famous in Port Blair?
Seafood is the star in Port Blair, from fresh fish, prawns and crab, often cooked South Indian or Bengali style, plus coconut-based curries. You will also find North Indian and simple continental menus at most hotels, and a handful of cafes near Aberdeen Bazaar for breakfasts and coffee.
Is it safe to travel to Andaman?
Yes. The Andaman Islands have a low crime rate and are considered among the safer destinations in India for families, couples and solo travellers. The main safety notes are practical ones: respect flag warnings and lifeguards at the beaches, and keep a buffer day for ferry schedules during the monsoon.
How can I reach Port Blair from Kerala?
By air is fastest and simplest: fly from Kochi, Trivandrum or Calicut to Port Blair with one stop at Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad. Trains and buses only cover the mainland leg to a port city such as Chennai, from where you would take a ship. For a short trip, flying the whole way is the sensible choice.
Is Port Blair worth visiting?
Yes. Port Blair anchors the trip with the Cellular Jail and its Light and Sound Show, Ross Island’s British-era ruins, the North Bay coral, Corbyn’s Cove Beach and the Chidiya Tapu sunset point. It is also the entry and ferry hub for Havelock and Neil, so you pass through it anyway.
What are the top attractions in Port Blair?
The essentials are the Cellular Jail and its evening show, Ross Island (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep), North Bay Island for coral, Corbyn’s Cove Beach, Chidiya Tapu for sunset, and the Samudrika and Anthropological museums for context on the islands and their tribes.
How do I reach Andaman from Kerala the fastest way?
Fly. From Kochi, Trivandrum or Calicut to Port Blair via Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad is about 5 to 7 hours door to airport including the layover, against roughly 60 hours if you route through Chennai by ship. This package can include or exclude that flight sector depending on what suits you.
How many days are enough for an Andaman trip from Kerala?
Four nights and five days is the sweet spot from Kerala. It covers Port Blair (Cellular Jail, Ross Island, North Bay) and Havelock (Radhanagar and Elephant Beach) without rushing, once you allow a travel day each way. Add a night if you want to include Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) or a scuba course at Havelock. This 4N/5D package is built around that ideal window.
