The best possible way to travel from Delhi to St Petersburg is by flight. Any other form of transportation like roadway or railway is not impossible, but highly time-consuming and will take a lot of effort. Flights are your best bet if you are going for a vacation and not an expedition.
Pulkovo International Airport is the one that serves the city for its global traffic. There are regular incoming and outgoing flights from Delhi to St Petersburg, Russia, but none of them are direct. Once you land at the airport, there are three bus routes to take you to Moskovskaya subway station from where you can take a ride to the heart of St Petersburg. Or you can simply hire a taxi.
By Air: There is no nonstop Delhi to St Petersburg flight, but there are enough connecting ones. Delhi has two direct flights to Moscow every day operated by Aeroflot which takes only 6 hours 25 minutes. The same carrier connects Moscow with St Petersburg via the capital city in 9 hours 5 minutes. Other connecting flights include Turkmenistan Airlines via Ashgabat or Finnair via Helsinki.
By Road: Travelling Delhi to St Petersburg distance of almost 5000 km via Iran or Kazakhstan is not impossible in theory, but can be impractical for tourists.
By Rail: Going from Delhi to St Petersburg by train is quite an impossible task. However, there are trains from Moscow, and flying to Moscow is comparatively easier than to St Petersburg with a direct flight from Delhi.
