Explore Guell Park

Guell Park in Barcelona is located alongside Sagrada Familia constructed by Gaudi. It is a popular tourist attraction and an important site one should visit in Barcelona. The whole park can be regarded as masterpiece Gaudi has created and is the one which even offers best views of city of Barcelona. The visit to the Guell Park is indeed a task for a day as it is a huge park and there are three entrances to this park. The park may be overcrowded if one is visiting it during summer.

History of Guell Park

The construction of Guell Park started in the year 1900. When Guell acquired an area near Muntanya Pelada he decided to develop it as an estate where the high class people can stay. Guell had the idea of recreating British residential parks and so he names this place Park Guell. Gaudi ensures that the estate has enough vegetation, he maintained what was already available and then introduced Mediterranean varieties that needed very less water.

Attractions of Parc Guell

The Guell which was under the command of Eusebi Guell is the one which has many beautiful stone structures and fascinating buildings. The Gaudi dragon fountain can be found at the entrance of the park. It has a very natural look with its irregular shape and looks as if they are growing out of ground like tree trunks. There is a terraced area at the top of Guell Park where one gets a wonderful view of the park and also the city of Barcelona.

There is a small house in the park where Gaudi lived during some part of his life. The house has now been converted to a museum that houses the beautiful furniture he has designed. Guell Park is a beautiful location to stroll through and also helps experience the beauty of Barcelona in the best way possible. It is a must visit for all tourists travelling to the city of Barcelona.
