One ticket covers entry to the park and its walking trails. Foreign adults pay LKR 1,000, Sri Lankan adults pay LKR 100, and children are charged less. Cameras are the only common extra. The table below is the complete 2026 price list.

Tickets are sold only at the entrance; there is no online booking. Prices are the same every day of the week, and parking at the gate is free.

Photography & Videography Permit Charges

Beddagana is a popular spot for pre-wedding and nature photo shoots, and the park charges for cameras on top of the entry ticket. A photography permit is LKR 500 per camera and a videography permit is LKR 1,000 per camera, bought at the same counter where you pay to enter. A phone snap on a casual walk is not charged. If you are bringing a DSLR, a tripod, or a crew for a styled shoot, budget for the permit and arrive early, because the soft morning light on the boardwalk is the reason most shoots come here in the first place.

Opening Hours & Last Entry

Beddagana Wetland Park is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, every day of the week. The ticket counter stops selling at about 5:30 pm, so plan to arrive before then. Early morning and the last hour before closing are when the birds are most active and the heat is bearable.

How to Reach Beddagana Wetland Park

The park is in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Sri Lanka's administrative capital, beside Diyawanna Oya (the lake that rings the Parliament). From central Colombo it is roughly 10 km, a 30 to 45 minute drive through Rajagiriya depending on traffic. A metered taxi or a ride-hailing car is the easiest option; tuk-tuks and local buses toward Battaramulla or Kotte also drop you nearby. There is free parking at the entrance if you drive.

Payment, Parking & What to Know Before You Go

You can pay by cash or card at the counter. Bring your passport if you want the foreign-visitor rate checked quickly, and small notes help if the card machine is down. The main loop is a raised timber boardwalk and gravel path of about an hour at an easy pace, so wear closed shoes, carry water and insect repellent, and pack binoculars if you have them. There is no cafe inside, so eat before you come.
