Hyderabad to Coonoor by Air

The nearest airport from the hill station of Coonoor is located in Coimbatore. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) in Hyderabad is served by domestic and international airlines. Flights between Hyderabad and Coimbatore are provided by IndiGo and Alliance Air. It takes about 1 hour 30 minutes for a flight to reach Coimbatore from Hyderabad. After reaching the airport in Coimbatore, travellers can hire a taxi to complete the rest of the journey to Coonoor by road. Another option is to take a toy train to Coonoor from Mettupalayam.   

 

Hyderabad to Coonoor by Train

Kachiguda Railway Station in Hyderabad is the main junction for the South Central Railway zone of Indian Railways. The nearest railway station from Coonoor is Coimbatore Junction, about 70 km away. Kongu Express, Sabari Express, Kacheguda Mangaluru Central Express, and Hyderabad Kochuveli Special Express are major trains between Hyderabad and Coimbatore.

 

The toy train station in Coonoor is connected to Mettupalayam via Nilgiri Mountain Railways. One can either take a train from Coimbatore to Mettupalayam or a taxi from Coimbatore to Coonoor directly.

 

Hyderabad to Coonoor by Road

There are no direct buses between Hyderabad and Coonoor due to a huge distance. Travellers can take a bus to either Bangalore or Mysore from Hyderabad and then board another bus to Coonoor from Bangalore or Mysore to finish their journey. However, road travel is not the most convenient option that’s why most travellers prefer to take a flight or train to Coimbatore. The distance between Hyderabad and Coonoor is about 873 km.

 

After reaching Ooty or Mysore, taking a taxi to Coonoor is an ideal option to explore the beauty of Coonoor and surrounding Nilgiri Hills.

Experience was good. All things went smooth. The last though was very bad. Neither the room nor the food there was good. For getting rooms everywhere we have to wait for 30 mins despite reaching after checkin time because they don't have confirmation of booking. So that's can be improved. Cab person was nice. He drove safe and drop us on time.

Booked my trip to Rameshwaram, Madurai and Kanyakumari with Shree ganpati Travels. Everything was good except Hotel Rameshwaram grand as the allotted room smelt of damp. Special thanks to the driver who was of good nature. On trip coordination provided by the Shree Ganpati Travels was very good whereas no one from Travel Triangle bothered to enquire about our journey. Overall, the trip was designed and organised well. Appreciations to Mr Sachin. Hotels are good at all the places, particularly Grand Ashok at Thanjavur is excellent in all aspects. Whereas, the Grande Inn at Trichi is good but very small in size , hardly any space to move , keep the luggage, definitely not suitable for guests on holidays. Hotels at other places are good. Special appreciation to Mr. Chammy, the driver who is sincere, committed, courteous, highly knowledgeable about the itenery. The car provided was Ford Figo considerably a good vehicle but some issues in AC. This should be ensured in future. Finally, thanks to Travel Triangle for well organised tour.
