Rameshwaram is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in India, and people from all over the country and from all walks of live travel to this temple town for seeking divine blessings. If looking for answers to how to reach Rameshwaram from Mumbai, read on to find out all the best ways one can do that. The Mumbai to Rameshwaram distance is around 1,580 kms, and it can easily be covered via train, bus or flight. Although there is no way to directly get from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by flight, one can take a flight to the nearest airport and carry on with their journey from there.

 

By Air: Although there is no airport at Rameshwaram, one can take a flight to Madurai, which is the closest airport. Madurai Airport is almost 170 kms away from the city center of Rameshwaram, and this distance can be covered via road transfers or trains, although local buses are most preferred. Hence, traveling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by air is not a plausible journey plan.

 

By Road: When traveling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by road, the best options are local buses. There are very few direct local buses for taking people from Mumbai to Rameshwaram, and one might have to change buses a couple of times. For those looking to drive themselves, there is almost two whole days of driving to look forward to, if not more.

By Train: There isn’t any direct Mumbai to Rameshwaram train, but one can travel to Chennai or Madurai, and continue their onward journey from there. Traveling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram via train is the best option for sure. Not only is this option cheaper and more comfortable, it is also one of the easiest modes of transport to book.

    The entire trip was planned really well and we were very happy with the arrangements. Our cab and driver was very helpful and he ensured we covered all the locations that are planned. The hotel in Kanakumari and Pondicherry could have been better as the break fast and rooms were not expected , the b
