By Air: One cannot travel from Pune to Rameshwaram by flight simply because there is no airport in Rameshwaram. The nearest airport is in Madurai, which is 170 kms away from the temple town. From Pune, taking a flight to Rameshwaram makes sense because it saves on time, as compared to other options.

By Road: Traveling from Pune to Rameshwaram by road is not a great option because the journey time and the fuel costs do not justify the trip. The roads are not very well maintained, and neither is the road a very scenic one. There are also no direct buses to take one to Rameshwaram from Pune, and travelers would have to change buses to get there.

By Train: One can easily travel from Pune to Rameshwaram by train, although there is only one direct train.
