Lake Tekapo Tour Packages

About Lake Tekapo: rated 4.1/5 (based on 1330 reviews) | Packages starting from ₹111,999/-

Lake Tekapo

The town, Lake Tekapo (the name is similar to the lake) is on the southern tip of the lake, and has some of the most splendid and sweeping views imaginable. The lake is present in Mackenzie District on the southern island of New Zealand. A turquoise lake amid the snow-clad mountains, Lake Tekapo sparkles beneath the blue sky. It is often a magical experience to see a line-up of mountains reflecting on its waters. Its rock floor is a specialty as the glaciers roll down grinding the rock particles and depositing them on the lake’s floor.

The splendid view of the lake and skiing opportunities on the mountains is worth the visit if you book Lake Tekapo packages. Therefore, often tourists who are traveling from Christchurch to Mount Cook make it a base station on the route.

How To Reach

By Road

Several bus services that travel to Tekapo are available from Christchurch Airport, Queenstown or Wanaka and Christchurch. It is a three hours journey from Christchurch airport to Lake Tekapo. The distance for a road trip is 1200 km.

By Air

The nearest airport to reach Lake Tekapo is Christchurch airport. If you are traveling from the cities of Australia or other countries, you can fly to Christchurch airport.

By Train

You can also take a train if you are traveling from Rangiora to reach Lake Tekapo. However, there are obvious disadvantages as the trains run once every day on this route and the time duration is longer than by road, that is a little more than 4 hours.

Best Time To Visit

Lake Tekapo during winter months (mid-November to late December)

You can visit Lake Tekapo in the winter months when the icy-blue water projects a strikingly different image compared to the snow-capped mountains. It is when the nearby ski fields remain busy and you can be a part of thrilling adventures down the snowy terrain.

The place as a part of Lake Tekapo packages offers many snow activities and you can have good fun out there. However, in case you are there for a relaxing trip, viewing the perfect natural and scenic beauty can keep you occupied as well.

Lake Tekapo during summers

If you have to consider the aesthetics of the place, then summers are no less. The summers enliven the lake, as the wildflowers add to the beauty. You can have a swim in the pristine lake. These aspects make it a perfect visit even for the summer holidays.

Tekapo has many summer activities for its visitors, so you can also look out for a trip during the summer holidays.

Arpit Jain

Arpit's 8 days trip to Sikkim - Gangtok - Darjeeling

It was managed very good overall. We got timely updates regarding our each day travel plan, Trip Coordinator Bharat Ji used to check with us daily on how the trip was going. From Hotel check-ins to Cab arrangement everything was smooth. Most of the drivers which came were quite good with proper know
ledge of the destination, especially the driver Karma, he to very good care of us for our North sikkim part of journey. However due to weather conditions we could not go to some of the destinations we planned. We missed out on Gurudongmar lake visit, Yumthang valley, Zero Point and Gangtok Local Sightseeing as well. Considering that I feel Tourepdia could have been a bit more proactive to provide us some alternate options and could have helped us to cover as much as possible getting the necessary arrangements done without extra pay. Still no regrets what so ever. It was great trip overall.

Shaiwalagarwal's 5 days trip to Ladakh

It was a very well organised trip and great experience to this heavenly place. Sightseeing is well planned and everything is covered. Driver was very polite and very helpful in nature. Hotels were good but they could be even more better. Accomodation and hospitality on pangong lake i.e. on himalaya
n cottage are really handled very well. Yugal Ji as a tour operator has done a great job. He made our bookings on time and provided all the necessary and small details reagrding the trip on time. All things are well organised.

Rameezaug's 5 days trip to Himachal

It was a very good experience. Stay in Manali (Hotel himalayan snow heights) and In Shimla(The moon lake) was good,The driver was friendly and cooperative. Summing up, it was a good trip and an amazing experience. Will book more trips in future with Travel Triangle and Travel Talkies.

Manivannan's 6 days trip to North East

We would like to thank you for arranging us an amazing honeymoon trip. Both my wife and I enjoyed the trip to the core. Here are some of the many things which we enjoyed during the trip. 1. Continuous support by Ms. Nikita Chauhan from Reify. We were able to reach her anytime for anything.
She had been in constant touch with us, since the time we booked this package. We would like to wish her all the best. 2. Since we both are from down south, we didn't have much fluency in Hindi. However the drivers were so supportive in communicating with us in a way that we could understand better. 3. Darjeeling, Pelling & Gangtok were the three places we chose to stay and visit. The hotels offered to us, were fantastic..the stay had been a pleasant one. However the food in the hotel was a bit costly compared to outside but the food was delicious and served better. 4. We got to see so many beautiful pictures and click pictures. Every little place has an entry ticket separately for local people. Other state people and foreigners and it took out some decent amount of money from my wallet. (Can't complain much as it's the only source of income for people out there and the places were worth paying for) 5. This was first time we experienced snow fall and it was a million dollar experience for us. We visited Tsomgo lake which was beautifully covered by snow. The view was breathtaking and to experience subzero temperatures still gives me goosebumps. It is a little disappointing that we didn't get permit from the authorities to visit Baba Mandir and Natula pass due to heavy snowfall. May be next time. 6. Nikita and Ajay Sharma were our tour cooperators and were very helpful. Nikita was in constant touch till we reached home safely. We would like to give a star rating of 4.8/5 for the her amazing support throughout the tour.

Naresh's 8 days trip to North East

Trip plan was too good and the hotels were awsome. It was managed very well overall. We got timely updates regarding our each day travel plan, Trip Coordinator Ms.Nikita Chauhan from Reify used to check with us daily on how the trip was going. From Hotel check-ins to Cab arrangement everything was sm
ooth. Most of the drivers who came were good with proper knowledge of the destination.Gurudongmar lake , Nathula Pass, Tsomgo Lake and Teesta River Rafting are awesome. We appreciate Ms.Nikitha for making for us a wonderful memorable trip and thanks to Refiy

Vishal's 5 days trip to North East

It was a memorable trip for us. To start with, Furkan from Reify was supportive and accommodative of our requests throughout the trip! 1. Gangtok- Hotel was excellent. Big spacious room, balcony with a view and tasty food (albeit only veg). Hotel staff was courteous. The drivers were generally f
riendly and humble. Scenery- It was beautiful! Tsongmo frozen lake was splendid. Nathu La pass was a memorable experience! But the real beauty was majestic snow capped mountain tops that accompany you throughout your journey to the top. Still can’t get the images of those wonderfully white snow capped Himalayas out of my head! It is surreal! Suggestion- spend 1 more day to explore Gangtok local sights. 2. Darjeeling- Hotel - was a let down after Gangtok Hotel experience. Crampy room, food was okay and service was ordinary. Suggestion- Book a high end hotel near Mall Road. Sightseeing- Must see places are the Zoo, HMI, Tea Garden. For the more adventurous, I also tried rock climbing on Tenzing rock climb. Japanese temple and Peace pagoda is serene and calm and you would get a beautiful view of the city. Tiger Hill Sunrise visit can be optional, as you have to get up very early in the morning (4 am) and reach the spot and wait for at least an hour for the sunrise . It is very cold and many people are gathered for the same. (If you can’t get up early in the morning, you may visit the spot during the day). The sunrise is beautiful, although the majestic phenomenon of Sun Rays soaking the top of Mt. Kanchenjunga in golden shower can not be guaranteed when there is fog (best time to see this phenomenon, I was told, was April- May. Unfortunately, we went to see it in February!) Visit the Chowrasta for its famous eateries and restaurants and Mall Road for winter clothes shopping. Other things - Toy train is optional. The train runs between Darjeeling station and Ghum station, both within city limits. The view from the train is restricted and entire stretch passes through the city only. So, you don’t get the view of valleys and trees from the toy train, if you thought so. We could not visit any monasteries as they were locked due to CoVID-19. Overall, it was a fun and memorable trip for us. We would definitely recommend this trip. Without a doubt, the trip to Nathu La pass and Tsogmo Frozen lake. I remember being awestruck with the natural beauty of white mountains ! It’s a surreal experience.

Anilkumargaje's 4 days trip to North East

Thanks Nikhita and Reify for the memorable trip to Assam and Meghalaya .We were a group of 7 people and had only 3N-4D for this trip due to which we had a lot of changes to our itinerary. Ms Nikhina Chauhan was helpful right from the beginning, trying to understand every aspect of my travel plan, gi
ving her inputs and suggestions whenever required, and always coming up with better options . She used to call up everyday and check with us on daily feedback and updates. Unfortunately, We didn't get time to cover all the places mentioned in the itinerary due to the road closure and short duration of our trip but it was an apt plan in that short duration & we have made a lot of memories with adorable Meghalaya. The best part of our trip were -Trek to Double decker living root bridge, Boating in Dawki river and Umiam lake. All the hotels were awesome, among which cafe cherrapunjee is the best where Nikhita has arranged a Bonfire on our special request .Driver was polite and courteous but the only thing was he should be more communicative and give more information about the places .Special to mention, Many Thanks to the management of Cafe Cherrapunjee and Nikhita for sending my missing items back to Hyderabad all the way from Meghalaya. Kudos to Nikhita and Reify ! We would definitely recommend you to my friends and family with 5 stars. Looking forward to more such wonderful trips with you!!

Overall good experience. Would like to come again. The cab drive was very cooperative. Accomodation was decent. Pony ride in Pahalgam, Snow bike in Gulmarg and Shikara ride in Dal lake were quite memorable.

Mayur Singhal

Mayur's 6 days trip to Kashmir

We really enjoyed our first trip to Srinagar. We are looking forward to visit again in summer as we are alredy missing being there. We got to see and learn about Srinagar because of our driver who made out trip more enjoyable. Also the agent was always available during the trip to hear our concerns.
We also got 1 hour complementary Shikara ride in Dal lake as part of our tour.
