Jolliffe's 7 days trip to Bhutan

We had a good holiday in Bhutan...While it definitely could have been better. Sharing my inputs/feedback Great Experience -Both our guide/driver / assistants (Barun/Kado) were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and supportive. -They understood our requirements and did what was required to meet the expectations - Barun Wangkley ensured we experienced 'local' specialties (Ex: Hot stone Bath / Dinner @ a Home stay), which was really good and thoughtful. - Kado as a guide was always there to assist, Including helping my wife make it to Tiger's nest and back...wouldn't have been possible without his support and patience -They (Barun and Kado) were patient with us and answered all our queries about their country and culture. - Full Credit to Barun for speaking with Bhutan Olympic Committee to move my Marathon registration to 2021 (Else I would have lost approx 7000 Rupees) Not so good - We started from Phuentsholing Approx 2hours late due to non-availabilty of hotel voucher for Immigration - Due to confusion with the travel agent, I missed the Bhutan International Marathon...This aspect should have been managed better - Due to the confusion/time lost, we could not visit Haa valley, which was part of the Itinerary...Were advised by Barun there is snow/ice @ Chellela pass and therefore not visiting Haa might be the right thing to do from a safety perspective, hence we agreed...The travel agent should have advised that there is a possibility of snow/ice at the time of drafting the itinerary - We could have done more sightseeing with better utilization of time/ coordination (We did no sightseeing in Thimpu) - Hotels were changed multiple times post the circulation of the itinerary. -On our trip back, we requested for a change.i.e. stay last night @ Siliguri rather than Phuentsholing (Given the long drive for an early morning flight)...I agree It was a last minute request from my side just the night before leaving(Post a good suggestion by Barun)...However getting the last night stay at Siliguri was a bad experience and ultimately had to shell out some money from my side... I'm not looking for a refund, however want the feedback shared with the travel agent. Totally understand no could have anticipated Corona and the confusion that resulted from it...but some of the things listed above could definitely have managed better. On a rating perspective I'll rank the overall trip a Generous 4 Star out of 05...This rating is totally because of Batun Wanglay and Kado...They did well! Am happy to use their services again....With the right amount of improvement.

Immigration clearance at Phuentsholing border took more than 4 hours. Due to which our entire first day plan was wasted. We are disappointed.

Awesome experience... Very well planned and well co-ordinated by Mr D B Gurung AD Tours and Travels Initially I was hesitant and bit reluctant to do online booking as this was my first distant tour with my family and also we tend to hear lot of romuors about online booking/ payment related things But it proved me wrong as everything was very well planned according to the itinerary and our tour was Hassel-free Tour Details: We travelled during last week of January 2020 Places covered were- Phuentsholing,Thimphu,Punakha and Paro About AD tours and Travels: Everything was pre arranged properly Pickup and drop are on time Quick immigration formalities due to prior submission of documents All hotels were good- same as mentioned in itinerary Driver (Mr Sherab)- polite, punctual and showed us all the places mentioned in itinerary Thank you MR D B Gurung for such a memorable experience.... Bhutan - Beautiful Place with loving people

We booked with KNG for the Bhutan travel in Dec last week. The support provided by Kamal while planning the trip was very good. The problematic part of the trip was the permit bit. It was a Monday and there was huge holiday rush - and it was a nightmare of a process. For future travelers - please ensure the permit arrangement is very clear with the agent - otherwise it will just spoil an entire day as it did with us - probably more than one for the few unlucky ones who had to go back from the immigration office & come the next day. I appreciate the help the agency & our driver provided through the process though. Now to the good parts - The hotels were good (Tashi Namgay in Paro, Alem in Phuentsholing, Pema in Thimphu & Zhingkham in Punakha) - Pema was the best of the lot, Zhingkham - rooms are good, food not so much. Do your research on hotels and finalize. The vehicle provided was good - Tuscon - good leg space. Our driver was excellent - Mr.Mann - drove expertly even in nights , good to talk to and knowledgeable about the country. Itinerary more or less will be same for most - Tiger's Nest, Punakha Dzong, Punakha Suspension Bridge, Buddha Point were the highlights of our trip. It was good booking with KNG - the trouble with immigration I understand was out of everyone's hands.

The trip was planned well & the assigned driver was very good. Though they charged me for Hyundai Creta & later provided Wagon R stating weird reasons/stories (be careful about that) we enjoyed the trip. The hotel & food experience is as follows: Phuentsholing: Hotel Tsheringma: Spacious room but average food & amenities . Thimphu: Ama suites was booked but it was pathetic & we changed to Hotel Park: Clean & Amazing room & food was also good. Punakha: Tashiling Hotel: Room was ok but poor lights which makes the corridor scary. Food was bad here. Paro: Hotel Kuenphen: Room, amenities & food everything was amazing. We enjoyed the stay. On last day they offered complimentary dinner which was a sweet gesture. I would recommend Green Heaven for your Bhutan Trip.

Ashrith's 5 days trip to Bhutan

On the whole, the trip was good. What could have been better? 1. Out of 5 days there were 2 days (2 day in Jaigaonpur/ Phuentsholing) where it was a total waste of time and had nothing for sightseeing. 2. For a first timer it would be a better deal to land in Paro instead of phuentsholing. 3. Also Hotel Pari in Paro was really not a Three star hotel which was part of the quote. Also since it was Winter time, there was no heater, which would have been more sensible. Also the Ambience of the hotel matters a lot for a client. So definitely not a 3star hotel. 4. Also it would have been a better deal if it included Punakha. Trek to Tiger's Nest, Thimphu Sightseeing.

A good travel service with a courteous driver during travel in Bhutan. Hotel in Phuentsholing was good but room is small for the price. Food was average. Bhutan roads are good & stayed in hotels booked personally. Punakha stay at Demchen Resort was very good. Good experience. A pleasant & comfortable travel through Bhutan.

Trip was very good. Bhutan Rental and Travel, Mr. Samir did an awesome coordination, very polite and arranged a very good cab & driver Kunzong. Samir guided us not to travel via phuentsholing on road, as it could be a tedious one. Which we felt a valuable one, as we met many travellers who came via road felt the same. Kunzong became a very friend and guided us all through the trip. He is very punctual. He guided us and came with us when we trekked to the Tigers Nest. He helped us during shopping. The travel part of it we were very comfortable, both the flight and cab. The hotel(Lekhar Resort) provided in Punakha could have been better, that hotel service was average. The agent could have provided one of the hotels in Paro or Thimphu closer to the town, which would have helped in shopping. One area can be improved is, the places in itinerary should be explained. We felt zoo wasn’t worth the penny. Our driver took us to a place called Simply Bhutan in Thimphu which was much better than the Heritage museum. End of the day it was a very good vacation, we enjoyed every bit of it, it was well arranged. Thanks to Kunzong, our driver and guide.

We recently traveled to Bhutan. We were so excited of this trip. We liked the Dreamcaster's deal and accepted it. The itinerary given by them was impressive which included almost all tourist spots of Bhutan including Punakha. But unfortunately we were disappointed as we had to stay at same hotel for 3 days as we did not get permit. We reached phuentsholing on Sunday expecting permit next day[Monday]. The agent tried best to get the permit on Monday but did not succeed due to huge crowd at immigration office. As Tuesday is local holiday so immigration office was closed, we had to wait until Wednesday and got it done. But there is catch again. To enter Punakha one has to get another permit at Thimpu. Thimpu had Tuesday to Thursday 3 days holiday due to tshechu[annual festival]. But as per our initial itinerary the trip suppose to end on Thursday. So I was wondering why the Thimpu immigration office holidays were not considered while preparing the itinerary!? And we extended the trip by a day. Though we tried to get Punakha permit on Friday, we could not make it, so dropped it. :( Apart from this, the Dreamcaster tried their best to keep us calm and sent us to Jaldapara National Park for safari on Tuesday. Also they made necessary alternative arrangements for stays etc. People from Dreamcaster were kind and helping not money minded. They take responsibility. One suggestion to Dreamcaster. They may have to consider few things [considering immigration office holidays and other things which can affect the trip or inform traveller in advance or ask traveller to change the date of travelling etc] while preparing itinerary, then they can offer great service. Travel Triangle had assured us that they take a full responsibility of the trip. But neither took responsibility nor solved any problem. For everything we had to call them ten times but no use though. Bhutan is the really nice place to visit. But beware of the local holidays which can delay your permits and harm your peace of mind during the trip like mine.
