About Simtokha Dzong in Thimphu
The Simtokha Dzong is one of the first Dzongs built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1629 and is said to be the first Dzong in Bhutan whose entire structure has survived for so long when compared to the other Dzongs in the country. Simtokha Dzong Bhutan occupies a key strategic location in the Thimphu valley and guards the entrance to the adjoining valleys leading to Dochu La and eastern Bhutan. The word Simtokha translates to ‘On top of the demon’ and is said to be built atop the place where a demon was suppressed and imprisoned. The Simtokha Dzong history suggests that the demon used to harass travelers who spent the night there and it was Zhabdrung who subdued the demon and banished her into a rock on the hill and the Dzong is constructed to ensure the imprisonment of the demon confining it there for eternity. The Dzong is a small one but has been attacked several times in its almost 400-year-old history and holds a significant position in both the history and geography of Bhutan.
Currently, Simtokha Dzong significance serves as the Institute for Language and Culture Studies and also houses numerous statues and paintings of various religious figures and deities. Simtokha Dzong also houses the head of Lama’s chamber, a weapon room, and a storeroom. There is a ruined watchtower 500 m above the Dzong, and the water fortress or the Chu Dzong is 100 m to the left is now used as a prayer hall by the students.

Trip to BhutanOverall the experience is good. Only negative is that two hotels were offered which are far away from town. Hari of Bhutan INC is exceptional. Asha, the receptionist in Hotel Tashiling in Paro was exceptional.
Trip to BhutanIt was over all good experience with AD tour's and travels to complete the Bhutan trip. Management was good. If I leave my bad experience with food at hotel center point at Paro, it was nice trip. Tiger Nest trekking is the best memory for me at Bhutan.
Trip to BhutanThanks a lot for arranging an awesome trip starting with great hospitality, hotels and places to visit every moment of the trip was special
Trip to BhutanThey promised a driver cum guide but we got only non-talkative drivers. One of the hotels booked was horrible, a dingy place above a wine shop (Barring that exception, all hotels were good to excellent). Other than that, there were minor hiccups almost on a daily basis that required maybe 30 mins each day to sort. So its not a worry-free holiday.
Trip to BhutanThe trip was really well arranged. Himavat Travels was really helpful. From the starting by hotel booking till we reach back home, they were continuously in touch. Himanshu from himavat was specially very much helpful. All the steps were taken care very professionally. Only one small concern was the hotel in Thimphu. The first hotel was not at all at 2 star level. But it was taken care of very fast. All over really great experience. I would again come back for my next trip. I am really impressed. Also a special thanks to Varun from travel triangle for all the help. Can’t point out anything special. But the scenic beauty of Bhutan is gorgeous. It’s literally the heaven on earth. Although I really enjoy the Dzong visit at Punakha. The scenes were extraordinary.
Trip to BhutanAll services were very good,as promised, just a feedback on travel agent was appreciated if they were little proactive, took lot of follow up for a revert on few things, else everything was pretty smooth .I still recommend AD tours strongly and TT supported well. tigers nest and all hotel stays , thank you so much for memorable experience.
Trip to BhutanArrangements were done without any hassles and services provided were very good. Highly recommended for family.
Trip to BhutanWe had a wonderful trip. All the arrangements were nicely. We did not face any issue. The guide who took us through all the places was amazing. Bhutan is beautiful and we will cherish the trip through out our lives.
Trip to BhutanHimmavat travel owner has RUDEST behaviour. he talked about cancellation of trip just day before 1 day of trip. Final Iternary was not provided till our trip got over which landed us to checkin wrong hotel, Missing some points, n hv to pay for drop at airport. It was Ranjita who help us out somewhat. otherwise all other working in Himmavat r rude. We did sightseeing at Phuentsholing on our own. other local agents gave us list of points for sightseeing. driver was not provided iternary so he skipped some points n we did no shopping. chelela pass and dochula pass.
Trip to BhutanThe driver who was assigned to us had no information of the places. He was supposed to be driver cum guide but he was clueless of the places and he had no idea of the itenery provided to us. So far bad experience in terms of driver survice provided by travel triangle. We had to ask local people for the places mentioned in our itenery as driver told us nothing about the place or museum (not even the basic open or close timings) We did trek to tiger nest, though it was hectic the view was worth the climb.
