Best Places To Visit In Nepal
Nestled in between two of the largest countries in the world, Nepal has successfully held its own against the world when it comes to tourism. It is one of the most beautiful country destinations in the Himalayas and is visited every year in flocks from India and other countries of Asia and from the west as well. From high, snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna and Manaslu to the green wilderness of Chitwan, from the long list of temples and monasteries to the long trails of hiking tours, Nepal sightseeing and tourism will never disappoint you as a traveller.
Temples in Nepal:
Nepal, although a secular state like India, has a majority population who adhere to the Hindu faith. Since its inception up until 2007, it was a Hindu nation. But the bygone years have left behind an excellent collection of temples scattered all over the country. There are monasteries and Buddhist shrines as well since Buddhism is the second-most followed faith in Nepal. Pashupatinath Temple near Kathmandu needs to the introduction at all. It is by far the most popular Nepal destination from India. Next up is Changu Narayan built by the Licchavis on Dolagiri hilltop. Swayambhunath temple, Budhanilkantha and Manakamana temple are some of the other Nepal tourist attractions when it comes to temples.
Honeymoon destinations in Nepal:
Nepal is a very much underrated country when it comes to deciding honeymoon destinations. But there are some charming Nepal places to visit for honeymoon which set the perfect tone for a romantic honeymoon. The mythical aura of Mustang, the heart-aching scenery of Sarangkot, the snow-covered streets of Daman the pretty-as-picture city of lakes, Pokhara – all make for just the place you would like to spend a week with your newlywed spouse and get to know each other even better.
Here are the places to visit in Nepal to know the country the best one can.
1. Kathmandu
The capital of the country is also the most attractive Nepal tourist place, and for the right reasons. From temples like Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath Stupa to shopping places like Thamel street and the iconic Durbar Square – Kathmandu is the giant buzzing centre of the entire country.
2. Pokhara
Fortunately, Pokhara and its surroundings were spared in the earthquake. Pokhara maintains all the pristine beauty that the city was blessed with. It is called the city of lakes. Phewa Lake is the largest and attracts paddle-boaters. Begnas Lake, Rupa Lake, Khaste Lake and Tilicho Lake of Pokhara are easily the hidden places in Nepal, yet to be touched by the cascading footfall of tourism.
3. Nuwakot
Nuwakot is not as big a tourist destination in Nepal as the other two. But it certainly has an idyllic, old-world charm that draws tourists. The Nuwakot Palace on the top of the hill and its brilliant Durbar Square, tossing back and forth from the Mallas and the Gorkhas, has now finally rested as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
4. Bhaktapur
The pedestrian-friendly town of Bhaktapur and its red-brick durbar square is one of the best Nepal points of interest. Although much of it now is in ruins and rubbles because of the earthquake, the city’s beauty and dignity have not taken a hit.
5. Lumbini
Lumbini is the city both historically and spiritually important, as this is the birthplace of Buddha in 563 BC. The city is home to many archaeological finds dating to that era.
Thamel In Kathmandu
Thamel is the hotspot for tourists in Kathmandu. Thamel neighbourhood first became popular during the 1970-80s when hippie culture took over Kathmandu.
